I met Sean during Covid lockdown time when the only way to travel was virtually. I usually plan and book our European vacations myself, but I was so impressed with Sean that we reached out to him and his company Eat and Walkabout Tours to help us plan our month in Portugal. Sean and Tiernan organized a series of food and city walking tours, hotels and private transfers in Lisbon, Lagos, the Alentejo region and Evora. Each tour was led by a very personable and knowledgeable English speaking local guide who adapted their tours to our interests and abilities. The private transfers with English speaking drivers (who were also tour guides along the drive) were always prompt and professional, and took extra time and care to ensure we reached our destination safely. One driver even helped us overcome the stress of the entry security system at our Vrbo and another driver escorted us (and our luggage) to the security area in the frantic Lisbon airport.
Eat and Walkabout Tours made our travelling easy! We simply provided some general guidance about our interests and timelines and Sean and Tiernan crafted an itinerary that was perfect for us. We are sure that it is the because of the expertise of E&W Tours (and not luck) that all our guides, hotels, car rental arrangements and transfers on this trip were the best we have ever experienced in Europe.

My friend and I were hosted in Vigo by the delightful Tiernan on a walking tour of the historical & gastronomic highlights of the city. We had a fantastic time exploring with this young man who is very passionate and knowledgeable about Galicia. The tour was very good value, we enjoyed a great range of delicacies from local businesses that as english speaking tourists we wouldn’t have found on our own. Thank you Tiernan & E&W

Eat & Walkabout planned a GREAT 7 week tour for us. We started in Porto, Spent a month in Galicia, 10 days in Tarragona province, and a week fly fishing in the Pyrenees. Sean took care of everything, from fabulous hotels, affordable car rentals, restaurant reservations, activities and excursions, and everything in between. He customized everything to our interests and passions. From the Interceltic Festival of Moana along with the celtic dancing classes to the Vermouth producer on our drive from BCN to Tarragona. Wild horse husbandry and a tapas tour of Baiona. Sailing, fishing, riding, hiking. And everything in between. This was a once in a lifetime trip and Eat and Walkabout made it all possible.

Our tour proved to be the the amazing, exciting experience our little group was hoping for in the incredibly vibrant, culturally rich Galician region in northern Spain! More amazingly, both Sean & Tiernan drove from Vigo, two hours away, to meet us when our cruise ship docked to be sure we would be able to enjoy the historical, walkable city of La Coruña.
We ate, we drank, we sang, we laughed!
Best of all, we were treated to authentic tasting experiences of La Coruña, got to interact with local market vendors and restauranteurs. Please give them a call if you are in the area, even if only for a few hours by cruise ship- you will not forget it!

Sean was a Great guide and we had a Really Fabulous day wandering around the streets of Vigo with him in this small group tour. My husband and I were joined by a group of ten friends traveling together and we were one big happy family by the end of the day! Sean first took us on an easy paced walk around the city and marketplace while giving us a good overview and history of this Lovely place. After having a sweet taste of Vigo (palito de anis) in the marketplace, we stopped in three different restaurants for a leisurely paced, Delightful afternoon of progressive lunching. First, Casa Samaniego, a deli restaurant for Wonderful wines along with Beautiful trays of tapas, followed by Matices, a gourmet restaurant for a Magnificent three course meal accompanied by Delicious wine, and finally Martinez Delicatessen to complete our day with a typical Tarta de Santiago and possibly the World’s Best hot chocolate. The pace was leisurely, the food and wine were Absolutely Delectable, and we had plenty of time to savor the delicacies and enjoy each other’s company in each place.

We were on a cruise ship that stopped in Vigo. Sean answered all of my questions before hand and the directions to the meeting spot was spot on. My son has a nut allergy and Sean made sure he was accommodated.
We were all pleasantly surprised by Vigo. It's cleanliness and charm. Sean really brought the city alive with his knowledge of its history and culture.
We first stopped at a local market. We would have never found it. He explained the different seafoods and local crops. He helped us order some baked goods as we did not speak Spanish.
Our first official food stop was a cute restaurant where we sampled some amazing cheeses and crab pate. Sean's knowledge about food is incredible.
Our next stop was for a seafood pie and paella. So good. And finally we had traditional almond cake.
I would definitely recommend this walking tour.

Fantastic tour with Sean O’Rourke from Eat & Walkabout in Vigo on 27 Sep. Sean is a great guy with an encyclopaedic knowledge of Vigo and its food and wine scene having lived there for many years. My wife and I are foodies, and the local food and wine was delicious and top quality … the local Galician wine & cheeses being a particular treat. Vigo itself is charming and was a big surprise to us. Sean’s company provides tours in various locations across Spain and Portugal and I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a. Fabulous culinary experience alongside a n interesting local history tour

My friend and I had a full-day private gastronomy and sightseeing tour of Cangas and the surrounding countryside.
Arranged by Sean and his son Tiernan, it was an great experience. The behind-the-scenes access and local knowledge shown by the guides made it a very worthwhile tour. They were so friendly and attentive to our needs.
I really liked the private tour of the fishermen's auction house and being able to participate in a Tapas judging competition.
We loved the stories about the history of the Cangas area and the hike to the ancient Celtic village.
I fully recommend Eat & Walkabout Tours to anyone looking for a unique private tour.

By far the best tour in Spain. We tasted some of the best tapa's and wine for an affordable price. Both tour guides were well educated with the history of the town, food, and places we went to. I enjoyed my time with them and so did my group of friends. We had such a large amount of food and wine during the tour. I highly recommend this tour to any visitors or locals.

This was the second time we met Sean and now his wife Angie & son Tiernan! All their tours are led by the family themselves-how special is that?! They are wonderful, local guides who have a definite love of their area besides a wealth of knowledge about the history, food & wine. We spent several days with them and loved doing the walking besides tasting all the great food and wine. We had several different types of seafood and dishes that we can't get back at home. They are also very capable of putting together individualized tours, both in Northern Portugal and Galicia, Spain which is where we went. Highly recommend them!

My wife and I are in our late 70's and have minor difficulty walking distances. This is the type of tour we really like. Do older folks generally do OK on this tour?

Hello from Vigo! If you could let me know which of our tours you are interested in since we have 2...
Great Galician Tapas Tour of Vigo - This tour involves about 3km in total of walking with some uphill streets to the market then downhill through the old quarter. It is not a strenuous tour as we stop as walking up the streets but you must be an able walker to walk through the streets of the city.
Coastal Trek & Tapas Tour - This trip is a bit more active with about 7-9km total where we walk along a coastal trail/path. It is about 1h30-1h45mins of walking. Again you would have to be an able walker.
Both tours involve walking and are not bus or van tours.
Kind Regards,
Sean

It is not consider a shopping tour, but we will pass stalls in the market and then some stores in the old quarter which you could go back to after the tapas and wines.
