This somewhat hidden gem was very specialised to the pilgrimage, wonderfully informative with some real treasures and free for Seniors. Their 'facilities' we're very clean, great in a place where it is difficult to find public facilities. The wealth of specific information was really very interesting.

If you've just completed the Camino de Santiago, this museum is a must visit! The museum, located in front of Praza de San Miguel, is just steps from the Cathedral. This is a relatively new location, now a completely refurbished, bright, modern museum housed in an historic, antique building. While several exhibits focus too much on the religious aspect of... The museum looked interesting from the outside, but once you were in turned to be quite unremarkable. It could be a necessary stop to those coming to Santiago de Compostela to get their stamp attesting that they made the pilgrimage.

Today the day after finishing my pilgrimage I had as my only agenda to visit the pilgrimage museum. After a couple hours the staff told us the museum was closing and we were to leave immediately. No explanation. When we on that floor asked why the staff just snarled and shooed us out. So we asked the reception desk why... More

Located next to the cathedral, this compact, bright, cool and well set out museum gives an insight about pilgrimages, information on St James as well as the history of the city of Santiago de Compostela itself. We spent a couple of hours happily looking at the exhibits which were all clearly set out and labelled in Spanish and English. All... More

The closest parking is on Avenida Xoan XXIII. This museum explains the Pilgrimage and the live of Santiago. It is not a museum with interactive displays, but you will get enough information about the Pilgrimage and the live of Santiago.

A well presented museum charting the development of the Pilgrimage to Santiago. Well documented descriptions of items/artefacts. Light and airy, plenty of room to stroll around and take one's time to view the exhibits. No need for a translator or audio guide, exhibits also described in English

Dont miss this very modern museum if you go to the town. It is all about the pilgrims and gives a concise history of how this all started.

For those who enjoy learning about the history of the place they are visiting this museum is a must. It is in a new location and is beautifully presented. Best of all it has excellent explanations in English.
