The Praza de Fonseca is a small public square surrounded by Renaissance style buildings on three sides and the Gothic Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela to the north. Although the square itself is large enough, much of the space is given over to green space with small gardens surrounding a central fountain. There’s still plenty of cafes lining the square as well as the streets leading up to the square. A cute square with beautiful views all around.

The street is a major pedestrian walkway. With many, many shops and restaurants and bars. We stopped here on two afternoons for a glass of cava for her, and for me a beer. People watching is spectacular and of interest to me was the nearby Cerros, or Post Office. I needed stamps to mail a few of the postcards I had purchased. Just walking a 25 meters in each direction brings you into contact with sights you may never have seen before. Blue Lobsters in a tank, Octopus sitting on display, as well as large steaks to be cooked for you. A few free sample, in hopes that you will come in to buy the product.

A rare bit of greenery within the historic centre of Santiago. Beautifully laid gardens and pathways which lead you to a small fountain in the middle. Pleasant seating.

This was one of the few squares that has some garden and was located outside the College Fonseca that dates back to1544 and was named after the Archbishop Alonsos Fonseca. The college is worth a vist as well

This small square, like the College on one side of it which houses the University Library and the road that runs through it are named after the Fonseca family, whose Palace the College originally was. Three members of the family were Archbishops and it dominated Santiago for most of the 15th and part of the 16th century. The square has small but colourful gardens in the centre and a fountain. There's a restaurant/café in one corner, which provides plenty of seating. This is a green oasis in the centre of the Old City.

Located in front of the Fonseca school is this charming square that receives the same name as the school in honor of Archbishop Fonseca, which has a central fountain, several gardens with their plants and there are several restaurant tables, cafes where you can drink and eat something to enjoy. charming of this square

It's an interesting square, with stone garden benches, small trees, useful for shade, a fountain in the center, but there was no water when I passed by, and I also noticed the presence of some people talking/socializing.
It is in front of Paço de Fonseca, where the founding of the University of Santiago de Compostela took place.
