We were amazed when we went inside.

Its looks from outside only give you a hint. It's a wow factor within. The golden effect is spectacular and the whole church is a feast of colour. Really enlightening. So glad we found it.

Lovely small chapel

If u like small old Chapels like me, this petite church will be nice to see. It's located on Ceuta's busiest avenue full of shopping stores spanish brands like Massimo Dutti, Strad Mango and others. If ur lucky enough the man responsible there can take u upstairs to see the virgin statue and the church s Bell 🔔.

The patron saint of the city of Ceuta
Oct 2016 • Friends
.

Fairly uninteresting outside, just a rather ordinary church painted pink and white. Although I suppose that for a Brit, a pink-painted church is slightly of interest!

However inside it is overwhelming with the gold-leaf decorations pulling your eyes into the altar and the statue of Our Lady of Africa, the patron saint of the town of Ceuta, and the origin of the girl's name "Africa" which you hear here as mothers call their toddlers to them in the park.

Lovely place of worship

As in other Ceuta sites, the Parroquia de Santa Maria de Africa is not overly large, but it is very much worth a look inside for traditional grandeur. The location is so close to the fort that this is a must see on a walking tour of Ceuta. Very beautiful stained glass windows.

Very Beautiful Baroque Church
May 2014 • Couples
This lovely little church is just to one side of the Plaza de Africa, On the outside the building does not look like much but take the time to go inside and you will see a very beautiful little church. The church is dedicated to the patron saint of the city - the Virgin of Africa - whose statue is above the alter. The interior of the building dates from the first half of the 18th Century, however the exterior of the building was been modified in the 19th and 20th centuries.
