The old section of Tarragona is just the right size - not too big or too small yet teeming with history and culture - churches, palaces, Roman ruins, museums and more. Simply wandering the narrow, cobbled stone alleys is a delight. If you get hungry, there are plenty of places to fill up, have a drink and soak up the atmosphere of a bygone era. Bear in mind, people live here, so please be respectful.

History, roman ruins, medieval vestiges, new buildings, art, shopping, dining and the last but not the least…beaches. Many and all great. All places that I’ve seen inspire me to simply characterize them in two words. Tarragona in two words will be: Sunny, Mediterranean. The sun feels much brighter here.

Me and my friends spent two days in Taragona in September and we enjoyed every single minute.

It is a common destination for its beaches and being close to Barcelona so it has been said a lot about it, nothing more I can bring in here but some fresh pictures.

Cheers!

The old town of Tarragona is a traffic free heaven. The cobbled streets are a joy to walk amongst the small shops, alleys and passages.

The old town is a delightful warren of small streets framed by the blue skies of the mediterranean. Old Houses, cafes and restaurants jostle with bespoke shops - its a great place to wander, stop have coffee and rediscover...

This is a lovely, old, historic town, with lots of pretty, narrow streets and something of interest at every turn. There are extensive parts of the original, Roman walls remaining and lots of little cafes, bars and restaurants. The Cathedral Basilica is spectacular. A good way to see the area is via the little road train for around €7.

Tarragona has had a chequered history and many conquerors have left their mark on this ancient city, take some time to stroll through the narrow streets and absorb the sense of history and marvel at the higgledy piggldy buildings.

Very atmospheric and beautiful old town. Lots of little gift shops and squares with restaurants and bars. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Tarragona Alta is vertebrated around the beautiful Carrer Major, but I advise to stroll along the nearby streets and passages not so contaminated by tourist shops pressure. You will find charming corners which remind middle age and even roman tradition
