This theatre is really amazing place. It's located perfectly just by the sea. It is partially renovated and partially kept originally from Roman age. You might get there easily from the railway station on foot. Around the theatre there is a wonderful garden where you...More

Well leave it to the Romans, they pick the best place for their entertainment. Circus Maximus and loads more very well intact. You can see plenty from the town side looking out over the sea. I was horrified to hear that people could traipse around...More

This is not the Roman amphitheatre of Tarragona (which is located on the sea front near to Via Augustus) but instead is an open Roman theatre that was used for different entertainment. Worth a look to appreciate the architecture but not as stunning as the...More

Amphitheater is at the water edge in a naturally sloped site, shaped as an ellipse. Beautiful sea view.

The amphitheatre is interesting because of the layers of history within this site. The main structure of the original theater is excavated and partly restored. Within the amphitheatre are remnants of Christian buildings built atop/within the original Roman structure. It's a great place to visit...More

This was a fascinating place - having read much on the Roman architect , it was very fulfilling to experience some connection to some famous roman movies of gladiators, as well as the much deeper history of this ancient capital. Highly recommended.

The amphitheatre is an enthralling piece of history in Tarragona - a reasonably well-preserved 2nd century Roman construction containing the remains of a medieval church built on and around an earlier Visigothic basilica.

If you are short of time you can view this attraction from above, but it is definitely worth the 3.30 euros to visit, or 7.40 euros for the combined ticket for 4 attractions. You can dream of being a Gladiator while you walk round the...More

Arrived just after opening . The combined ticket for the 4 sites was good value at 7.40 euros . Atmospheric and lovely to stroll around before the thermometer soared. Excellent information provided and the audiovisual presentation about its use in centuries gone by was 100%...More
