About
Cau Ferrat 's Museum is the workshop that the painter Santiago Rusinol built in Sitges by the sea in 1893 to house its paintings, iron, ceramics, furniture and antique glass. The museum preserves intact the space and works of art that the modernist painter collected. His visit is an invitation to immerse ourselves in the spirit of Modernism and his idea of the creation of total art. On their walls they upload works by their fellow generations such as Ramon Casas, Ramon Pichot, Ignacio Zuloaga or Dario de Regoyos, and young emerging artists from that period such as Pablo Picasso, Manolo Hugue and Isidre Nonell.

An interesting museum and gallery but no guide! We were told the printed guides had been withdrawn due to Covid. So why isn't it available online, as a PDF?
We were instead directed to a virtual guide on a website which only covered a few items and is NOT user-friendly. For our friends without smartphones it was useless.
Do not visit until the museum has sorted this out.

Gorgeous! Originally a home built for DEERING by Utrillo. The downstairs home with all the art & pottery & fabulous glassware & wood sculptures many from the 17-18th century. The tile work alone was worth the visit .Glad I didn’t miss seeing this

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion. The Museu del Cau Ferrat was the workshop and residence of the modernist artist Santiago Rusiñol. Charles Deering and Miquel Utrillo created the Maricel complex, which can also be visited. We hope you will visit us again soon and continue to enjoy our museums. Best regards,

Interesting but quirky collection of glassware, tiles and artwork. Well worth a visit. Unusual to find a museum of this quality in a seaside town. Sitges is amazing and this museum reflects that.

Thank you very much for sharing your opinion. The house-workshop of Santiago Rusiñol reflects a unique moment in the history of art, the creation of the modernist movement, which claimed the value of arts and crafts. We hope you will visit us again soon and continue to enjoy our collections. Best regards,

As part of the cultural events for the summer certain events were held in this unique venue. Surrounded by iron work and tiling with exquisite detail telling stories of the past of Spain and Catalunya we listened to excepts from various operas while sipping cava. You could be forgiven for missing out on some of the explanations (all in Spanish), but you could still feast your eyes on your surroundings amid this delightful variety of artworks collected over the years. If you are in Sitges don't miss the opportunity to combined art and opera! Take note how ever both Cau Ferrat and the Palau Maricel can be stuffy and warm...they were renovated before airconditioning. So be Spanish: bring your fan!

We found this to be a brilliant way to spend a morning, walking through the beautiful rooms and admiring the artwork. There's something here for everyone to like, from original paintings, copies of great works done by the painters as they learned their trade, ceramics and artefacts. I particularly liked the works of Ramon Casas on display. The history of the museum and the influence of the American millionaire Charles Deering, provided an interesting and thought provoking background to the building. What a pity that Deering took the works of art he'd collected and intended to display in Sitges back to the U.S! The galleried room, with it's three statues, overlooking the sea is worth the entrance fee alone.

Worth going to the outside of the building, but you have to be a bit of a geek for paintings and plates. Well laid out, and the Picassos and Goyas were interesting.
