    As the name invites
It’s a delightful space, quiet and relaxing at our visit. Passing between grand Palau Maricel and Museu Cau Ferrat on the one hand and Church of Sant Bartomeu & Santa Tecla, it is truly a gem. Apparently it is a favourite place for summer time concerts. Overlooking the blue sea, can imagine that these would be unforgettable.

    Atmospheric small square
Raco de la Calma (The Quiet Corner) is located in the old quarter, one of the most beautiful areas in Sitges. The small square is bordered by the Cau Ferrat Museum and the spectacular Maricel Palace. Because of the great acoustics, the square hosts shows and concerts.

    Impressive
Impressive buildings encasing a narrow passageway, whuch extends outwards. Buiilt in and around 1917, so not as historic as it may seem. It is obviously an attractive area, and very busy and it is easy to see how Clough William-Ellis would have been inspiried to build Portmerion in cold North Wales.

Whether at the height of a heat wave or the cool of the evening this tiny area beyond the Church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla as you walk towards the small beach of San Sebastian is surely the most exquisite corner of the village. It is captured between the Palau Maricel and the museums offering examples of what the town must have looked like many a year ago with beautiful examples of the architecture and ironwork. During the peak summer season it often is used as a venue for top quality classical music open air concerts. Enquire at the museum or tourist offices about dates.

This town is one to be explored by foot. So many architectural beauties to see as you go, and each alleyway is another surprise!

Beautiful, tranquil, and serene. Those were my impressions while wandering through here and listening to live classical guitar music with the ocean in full view. What’s not to love?

Typical spanish area of old sitges all around the church. Cobbled area and steep slopes so not good if you have walking difficulties

Wandering through the meandering narrow streets of Sitges is a total delight – visual treasure after treasure are revealed at almost every turn when in the old part of the town – Within this particular part of town there is also a wonderful working church which is sometimes open to the public for services or simply “reflection” – there is also an attached smaller anex which is truly beautiful and also open for short periods almost every day – Then stroll down the steps and along the seafront where there are numerous cafes and bars to finish off the morning walk or to settle in for the evening – The whole town is very friendly and tourist orientated but it maintains its originality as an almost unique and beautiful town on the Spanish coast – well worth a visit

After strolling along to the church a walk down these side streets is a delight and during the heat of the day it could be considered a great place to just sit for a while in the shade and people watch.
