In fact there is a nice picture with a few old houses painted and cleaned. Metallic, stone and concrete bridges cross it. It is the fourth part of the 3 stone walls of the old city. So you can look around. But don't wait for a nice place by itself.

Some colourful views of the painted houses along the river but the water was very brown/ brackish. Nice to cross the many bridges for different photos opportunities.

The houses which line the side of the Onyar River are gorgeous hues of brown, red and beige. Such a stunning site as you cross over the Eiffel Bridge.

Stayed at a place overlooking the river for a few days it's really beautiful. Check it out. I really liked the brides, the curving waterways. There was so much water in the river tonight it was raining for some days so it was impressive. Its a picturesque river with the old buildings around it.

Emblematic houses painted in different colours are reflected on the water. The old river acted as a moat for the city. It is now controlled by a dam upriver. In the past the river would burst its banks when it rained a lot, and it would flood the city, killing people.

There are some nice views to be had along the river in the town and some half decent bridges but they are not the best about. The river is not very inspiring in beauty, cleanliness or flow. However the colourful buildings along the bank make for a nice photo opportunity even thought they could do with a lick of paint.

The whole stretch is easily accessible and best photo opportunity is in the morn and sunset. You can visit the shops and dine at the riverbank cafes.

The Onyar River threads its way through this beautiful city, but the best part is when it goes by the old town. The water can get higher but whenever I've been there (a handful of times) it's been low and, in some sections, more a trickle than a river. I've also followed it outside Girona and it's OK. A nice... More

I had heard such marvelous things about the beauty of the houses on the Onyar. To me, they appeared faded and dull, and lacking the color I had heard so much about. Perhaps it was the weather, perhaps it was the season-- it was nice to walk by, but nothing I would go out of my way to see again.

Many folks forget about Girona... Great one or two day visit. You can get off the train and out of the station and go straight for 10-15 minutes and you will run into the River. This will be the modern Girona area. Take a left on either bank and head to the old town. You will see two huge cathedrals... More
