In its way more impressive than the cathedral as it seemed to us to be more of a unity, is sombre atmosphere blending well with the modest interior. These things are purely subjective but we felt that we might be able to experience religious feeling more here than in most other churches that we have been in as lifelong agnostics. We will return, I am sure.

Standing close to the Cathedral makes it easy to visit both Churches.

The Church of Sant Feliu was the main Church of Girona before the construction of the Cathedral.

It is noted for its eight Roman and early Christian sarcophagi of the 3rd and 4th centuries and the Gothic Tomb of Narcissus of Girona who traditionally was one of the early Bishops.

It is much smaller than the Cathedral but nevertheless worth a visit and has a nice atmosphere and lovely stained-glass windows.

Just below the Cathedral, on a slope, stands Girona's second largest cathedral, with its remarkable truncated bell tower. The majestic nave is decorated with a Gothic ribbed vault, and in honor of one of the most revered patrons of the city, Saint Narcissus, a huge chapel in the late Baroque style was built of marble and jasper. To the right of the chapel is the Gothic tomb of the saint, built in 1328. It is decorated with a statue of the deceased and scenes from his life.

Beautiful multi-styled its light hued stone was shimmering in the morning sunshine

First conceived before the 10th century it was substantially completed during hundreds of years, from the 12th century on.

Hence its variety of styles. Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque. Stepping in is an unforgettable experience. A lovely Rose Window is on high at the rear.

Fabulous arches and soaring columns lead to the fine vaulted ceiling. An altar area that is remarkable holds the attention.

Lovely marble and rich artistic holy images in fresco and sculpture are wonderful.

We enjoyed our visit to two churches in this area- the cathedral and basilica (very close to each other). We were able to purchase a combined ticket to both which also included audio guides. We thought these gave a lot of good background that we otherwise would have missed.

The Collegiate Church of St. Felix (Catalan: Col·legiata de Sant Feliu) is a basilica dedicated to St. Felix in the Catalan city of Girona, dating to the early days of Christianity. It houses the offices of the Parish of Sant Feliu, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Girona, so called because it was the main church of Girona before the construction of the Girona Cathedral. Its construction, in honor of Felix of Girona (Sant Feliu), occurred from the 12th century until the 17th century. It retains much of the Romanesque construction, completed later with a Gothic nave and a covered baroque facade. It is notable for its eight Roman and early Christian sarcophagi of the 3rd and 4th centuries, along with the Gothic tomb of Narcissus of Girona who, according to tradition, was one of the early bishops. The church of San Felix or Sant Feliu is a basilica located in the Spanish city of Gerona, originally from the early days of Christianity. It houses the offices of the Parish of Sant Feliu of the Bishopric of Gerona, so called because this was the main temple of Gerona before the construction of the cathedral. Its construction, in honor of the martyr Saint Felix, lasted from the 12th century to the 17th century and preserves a good part of the Romanesque building, later completed with the ships and the Gothic roofs and the Baroque façade. The main attraction is constituted by eight extraordinary Roman and Paleo-Christian sarcophagi of the III and IV centuries, found when the church was built, together with the Gothic sepulcher of San Narciso.

This church seems to be older than the cathedral. If you have a ticket for visiting the cathedral the entrance to this church is also included in the ticket. It is worth to visit this church for the huge altar dedicated to the local Saint of Narcissus.

The combo ticket with the cathedral included this. As many people have noted, it is very close to the cathedral, and it's worthwhile to make the short walk. I spent about an hour here. Also as noted by many people - get the audioguide, which was helpful. Not very busy. It has simple, beautiful architecture.

This church is just opposite the bridge of Saint Felix, on the eastern bank of the River Onyar. It seemed a little odd that a basilica is smaller than the cathedral until I found out that historically this church housed the Diocese of Girona and therefore the main church in Girona until the construction of the cathedral. Much like the cathedral, it’s a lovely mix of Romanesque, Gothic and with a Baroque facade. Not quite a beautiful as Girona Cathedral, this church does have a few interesting points such as the 4th century sarcophaguses, an interesting alter with a statue of Saint Felix (I think), and the tomb of Narcissus of Girona who was one of the early bishops of Girona.

Keep in mind that you can buy a combined ticket for this basilica and Girona Cathedral, also known as the Church of St. Mary. Although the cathedral is more opulent than the basilica, I actually found the narrative of the audio guide for the basilica far superior.

Do not miss the Chapel of Saint Narcissus, which I though was far more beautiful than any of the chapels in the church for it's stunning jasper walls.
