    A real gem!
Absolutely spectacular and so unexpected! The steps up to it are right out of a movie and the interior is fascinating. The best parts, however, are the museum (who had ever heard of the thousand-year-old Creation Tapestry?!) and the cloister. This whole town is a gem and the cathedral is one of its very best parts.

    Stunning
We were drawn towards this cathedral as it is situated in the old town of Girona and wow it is beautiful. The different chapels within the church are so beautiful and take your breath away. For those who like Game of Thrones I believe this is one of the film locations and I can understand why as the steps going up to the cathedral are stunning.

Use combined ticket for this, art museum and Basilica
Being ancients we get a discount on the ticket for the three visits! Allow time if you're into history, art and visiting churches. The audio-guides for the Cathedral and Basilica are excellent and there is a lot to listen to, see and absorb. There is a good cafeteria in the cloisters. The art museum is divided into period sections and currently has a Costa Brava modern exhibition.

    Much better than expected
Travellng Europe, you see many cathedrals so my expectations were not high for a small city. The cathedral is impressive both outside and inside and worth the visit. You can get a combo ticket to see both the cathedral and the basilica, audio guide is included. Try to arrive early, otherwise your pictures of the steps, which you surely will want to take, will be crowded with people.

    100% Worth it, highly reccommended
Me and my father both paid to get the audio tapes that you carry around yourself, to listen to the all of the history about the Cathedral and its origins. The phones that are provided are very easy to use and yiu are not disturbed by the audio of other peoples phones. The cathedral has lots in it and you have the option to listen to what you find interesting. Very educational experince and I would highly reccommend you visit and pay the small fee to go inside its worth it.

    Awesome cathedral
This cathedral is definitely a must-see in Girona. I’m a Game of Thrones fan so seeing this in real life is quite amazing. Rich in history and unique architecture. You definitely need to get those audioguides as it gives a lot of interesting information about the cathedral and its past.

    A must when visiting Girona
Superb value for money, very informative with the audioguide, stunning church with a lot of baroque art and carvings. Stained glass windows were beautiful, didn't expect the additional visit into the cloister area and the viewing of 1 of the oldest stained glass windows and tapestry in Spanish history. A must for anyone looking to learn about the Gurona art, culture, history within an hour to hour and a half.

We visited Girona during the so called flower festival. The locals do their best to decorate with paper birds on strings, some potted plants that looked like they came from Home Depot were sitting on the stone steps. Tourists were in this huge line going up into a cathedral looking building to view something that just had to be spectaculer! When we finally entered this small there rop[ed off was a display of old light bulbs on the floor in the shap of flowers! We couldn't believe our eyes! It was like the silliest thing you have ever seen! We have rooms booked but aren't allowede to drive up to the hotel because of the F. Festival. We drag suitcases for blocks on cobble stone and climb up stairways for blocks to get to the Desk to check in. Only to be told , you check in here but have to haul your luggage blocks more to your building! Arriving, the room is up several staircases so narrow you couldn't pass anyone on it. Then to top off this wonderful festival that is a total joke , we have to park our car on the edge of town and walk in pouring rain . When we are ready to leave we discover they have towed our car to a location about 30 minutes out of the city! With the cab ride, the parking ticket and the tow bill, it cost us about $400 to get our car back! This place is a joke! Avoid it at all cost!

This is such a big Cathedral (don't compare with Barcelona cathedral) this is little bit old style and having more arterfacts inside. Overall good, worth taking the audio guide. Don't need to book in advance.

This building is an amazing sight and stands high above the town with 96 steep steps up to the main façade.

The climb is well worth the visit to this magnificent cathedral which has the widest Gothic nave in the world and the second widest of any Church after that of Saint Peter’s in Rome.

Building started in the 11th century and continued into the 13th century, of the original edifice only the cloister and a bell tower remain.

There are interesting arts of work in the treasury and museum which are well worth visiting.

We never meant to go to Girona, it just sort of happened. We were taking the train back from Cerbere after an excursion there and began talking to some other passengers. Girona came up and when we all got off in Portbou to buy tickets we decided to go to Girona instead of back to Barcleona. One there we found out we had a few hours to kill before the next train so headed off to explore the Cathedral of Girona and the surrounding medieval part of the town.

The Cathedral was famous and a major tourist draw before it and surrounding areas were used in the HBO series Game of Thrones. In fact one of the many available tours of the area is based on the series for devout fans. The Cathedral dates from the 11th Century.

Getting there from the railway station was easy. We could see it on the train in, so it was merely a matter of following the elevated railway northeast back to the Riu Onyar and crossing one of the several foot bridges into the medieval section of town. Here we wandered around admiring the Cathedral and other buildings for a few hours. The area is not too large and while you may get lost in the narrow streets it won’t be for long.

Expect crowds especially in the area around the Cathedral itself, as I said it's popular. It seems everyone needs to have a selfie taken on the steps.

Eventually you can again cross the river and end up in Placa de la Independcia. The square is lined with numerous small cafes perfect for a well deserved cold drink to end the day.

The cathedral in Girona was on our checklist to visit since we are Game of Thrones fans. It is simply majestic. The statues around the front door are great and the view from the upper stairs is a delight. We also visited the inside of the cathedral which includes the garden. The ticket was 7 euro per person and it covers the cathedral and the basilica. There a lot of nice and detailed items to see. Worth the visit!

€7 entry fee (some guides say it free on Sundays - it isn’t). Worth every cent - the treasury is fascinating and the cloisters are beautiful. Great models explain the evolution of the building from the original Roman temple.

This is a beautiful cathedral which is a must see on the walk around the old town. It’s a good place to start your walk as it’s on the further edge of the old town and you can make your way from there to the centre. The gardens alongside the cathedral are well worth a walk and get missed by many who stay around the cathedral square.

It’s busy during the day with a mix of GoT fans and tours as well as more general tourists but time your visit either end of the day and it’s much quieter. A night it’s a great place to visit too

The cathedral is just simply vast! The inside is huge with vaulted ceilings. If you like architecture you would appreciate the craftsmanship and age of this building. Its not overly in your face religious too bearing in mind what it actually is.
