Bike Breaks really made my visit to Girona last year. It was the first time I had been there so didn’t know the place at all. But Bike Breaks was recommended by a friend. And for good reason. Really friendly staff that can’t do enough for you.
The ebike I hired was spot on. And the biggest praise I can give them is that they got the fit so right that I was able to ride 50 miles completely free of back pain for the first time in years. Which I haven’t been able to replicate since I got home.
I had planned to get out to Girona again this summer, sadly that didn’t work out but as soon as the world is back to normal I’m booking my bike hire again.
When I was there was during the cycling festival which was organised by Bike Breaks, seeing the cycling around the old city during the evening race was something I’ll never forget.
PS Girona is probably the nicest city I’ve ever visited the place and the people are unlike anywhere I’ve been.

When you hire a bike, you just want to go for your ride without fuss.. And our first experience with Bike Breaks was exactly that!
We walked in, warmly welcomed, asked for the name, got the bikes and off we went! It felt silky smooth! The bikes were a beauty and perfectly fitted before our arrival (kudos to the mechanic).
(As much as I wanted to get going I had a small problem with my map, but for Bike Breaks it was no problem at all.. I gave them my gps, and a few seconds later the map was re-installed and ready to go.. (another kudos to the girl who helped me)
The bikes are well speced, well maintained, super clean and pretty much a joy to ride!
Clearly the owners and the people that work there know their business, and am pretty sure it is a passion, not just a job..
Well done bike breaks! I’ll definitely recommend you and be a repeat customer when back in Girona!
“Five star, all the way”
Muchas gracias

Finally made it to one of cyclings great cities, Girona, Spain and was fortunately led by web reviews to Bike Breaks. Dave and Saskya run an outstanding center. They rent high end road and mountain bikes, expertly fit them, and offer phenomenal advice on rides, restaurants and hotels. For this particular trip, I brought my own bike with me; however, in the future, I would likely leave it at home as the quality of their rentals and service far exceeds the hassles of bringing your own bike. Bike Breaks can accommodate all levels of cyclists from novice to pro.

We planned to ride three days in Girona using our own bikes. Having read such great reviews of Bike Breaks, we stopped in on Monday morning to buy a map with routes. They convinced us the GPS was better, so we rented it for three days. They suggested a tour to the medieval town of Monells, where they said there were three restaurants. We set out through the suburbs and soon started climbing the hills of the beautiful El Baix Emporda, marveling at the cork trees, wild rosemary, and fascinating 11th Century Santa Pellaia church. Soon before arriving in Monells, the GPS died, and we had not been give extra batteries. We were able to reach Monells with road signs, and were charmed by the arches and stone buildings of the lovely town. However, we were starving by then and tried to find one of the restaurants. The staff at BikeBreaks had forgotten that all the restaurants in Monells were closed on Mondays. Without a GPS, and very minimal roadsigns, we had to rely on advice from friendly people on the way back to Girona, who directed us via the highway, so our ride back was not so nice. There were no restaurants along the way, so we were really starving by then. When we returned the GPS to BikeBreaks and told them that it stopped working and that we had no lunch, they didn't apologize.

Visited shop twice as buying customer. Managed for owners by husband and wife team. Wife runs a good show and advised me of Thursday free bike trip/tour that turned into a farce. The husband is Dick or David (not sure as heard him referred to as both) led the trip but was a show off and had no regard for rules of the road whatsoever. Very surprised by his behavior and constant use of wrong side of the road. Gives cyclist a bad name/reputation. I'd avoid it as its a bit too Faulty Towers like for me.

Sorry to hear you felt unsafe out there Dave. Rider safety is number one priority for us and we do our best to keep our riders safe on our shop ride. We hope If you revisit Girona you will have a positive experience.

Girona Spain has a reputation for some of the best road cycling in the world so I decided to go check it out .
I didn't know where to start and after a bit of research, I found the Girona Cycling Centre / Bike Breaks and am happy that I did. From the first communication until I left Girona, every aspect of the trip was made better because of the folks who run the business.
The bike was well maintained. The staff were knowledgeable and eager to help me whenever I had the slightest concern. Super people!
The area has some of the best roads anywhere and the drivers there respect cyclists so traffic isn't a concern. Most roads are well maintained and lightly trafficked which makes for pleasurable outings. Girona has just about perfect weather year round too.
I rode almost 1,000km with nary a problem and can't wait to go back again. If you are considering a cycling vacation, you MUST give Bike Breaks a go!

Outstanding experience from start to finish. Dave, Anna and the team were exceptionally helpful with the road bike rentals, bike support, route suggestions, and hotel reservations. We were three experienced road cyclists looking for good quality road bikes and lots of opportunities to ride the hills and coastline near Girona. We would highly recommend Bike Breaks and look forward to a return visit soon.

The guide managed to keep the group together, even though there were different abilities in the group. Laid back and enjoyable ride with some great people from all over the world. We also hired bikes from the shop and couldn't fault them in anyway.

If its your first trip, hire a guide. We rented a GPS but it went bonkers on us. Its not the shops fault. They were kind enough to refund the money. If you're going to spend money buying a plane ticket, renting accomodations and a bike, rent a guide as well. We missed out on the ride to the lake. Instead we got lost, but in an interesting kind of a way.

Girona can be very hard to navigate round, we certainly always recommend getting a guide, or joining one of our free
weekly shop rides as well.

To be honest we rented from another store (which was a mistake, should have done everything with bike breaks) but that morning group ride was the highlight of the trip. The shop is inviting and their team is fantastic.

Do you guys do a group/shop ride? I’m going to be in Girona around 25th with my wife and I was thinking of hiring a road bike for a ride myself. Thought it might be easier to go with a group. Looking for a ride around 60 to 80klms. Cheers.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Girona on Feb 19th to March 1 2018 leaving from Pearson Toronto Airport. Is there anyone else planning a trip at this time as well. Please let us know it would be nice to get in touch. Thank you.

Hi.. We will have a others riding at that time of year and we will run weekly rides which you are most welcome to join.
We also have others meeting at the shop for unofficial rides as well.
Will you be needing bike rental?
Written January 4, 2018
I noticed a lot of experienced riders use your services. My husband is a very experienced rider, but I'm not..do you have guided shorter rides for the less experienced? We're in Girona for 9 days in May and we'll need to hire bikes as well.

What is the weather like during the last week of September and 1st week of October. We are looking at both Girona or Cyprus as options for 2 weeks road biking, doing about 30-40 miles per day.

My wife and I will be visiting Girona in June (22-26). We may have time for one full day of biking. We are comfortable riding 50-60 kilometers per day. What do you recommend?

The folks who run the shop can give you multiple options for a day of biking depending on what distance and terrain you're interested in. They will also recommend towns and places for lunch along the way! Its definitely worth a day of biking!

We will be arriving in Girona by car June 3rd. We would like to do at least two days of cycling. We are experienced cyclists. Can you please recommend trips and the prices, guided and unguided. Do we need to bring our own pedals? What kind of bikes do you rent? Can you recommend places to stay for up to five days.

Just contact Dave at Bike Breaks, we rode every day on self guided routes, we were given maps, directions and a preset GPS so had no problems at all. I am sure they will advise of suitable accommodation en route. The bikes and all the equipment were excellent. Enjoy yourselves. Liz
