The Sant-Domenec steps are amazing location to get a chance to view.
Beautiful spot to take photos and gives you a taste of the old town charm everyone visiting europe is looking for.
If you can come here during the evening, the steps would probably look even more beautiful.

We visited Girona looking for the locations used in the Game of Thrones series and Pujada de Sant Domenec is one of the most famous.
Medieval architecture, stairs, a café and the magic of fiction. And also many tourists (patience).

Very interesting location. This ancient palace was built in the 14th-17th centuries. Very interesting location above the arched span. One of the favorite places for tourists.

The Pujada de Sant Domènec, located in the Old Town, is a set of steep steps leading up to convent of Sant MartĂ. I’m told it’s a stand-in for scenes of King’s Landing in Game of Thrones, so I was thoroughly bemused by the horde of fans and GoT walking tour(ists). What I can say is that this street is a well preserved medieval street and feel really atmospheric with it’s steep steps and arched underpass that seemingly come out of nowhere.
Definitely worth a look, GoT fan or not. It's a very Photogenic Spot

Someone said earlier "Go early morning".
As a matter of fact better go late afternoon, just before sunset if you are going there to take pictures. This places it faces West, better light at the end of the day. See my photos.
The places is packed and Cafè le Bistrot has tables spread all over the place. I had to go there twice, after they closed and when all the tours pulled out so I can take a clean shot. Well worth the effort, this place is beautiful! Don't miss it!

It is unsurprising that tourist (and reviewers ) focus on the architectural interest, charm and, indeed, theatre of this area. It looks like a film set, but it looked like that centuries before film was invented! It is a nice place to wander and soak in the atmosphere. The steps lead up (or down depending on your point of view) to the church of St Domenec. But is this a stairway to heaven or hell? Girona played an important role in the closing stages of the (Spanish) Civil War. In the final push north by the Fascist forces it is said that several hundred Republicans and "undesirables" were rounded up and imprisoned in St Domenec and other buildings nearby. According to a memorial further up the hill behind St Domenec, over 500 of these unfortunates were marched down the (architecturally interesting and charming) steps to the street below where they were taken away by truck to the local cemetery and summarily executed. That would have been a long and lonely walk..............While it may not be pleasant to be reminded of man's inhumanity to man in the relatively recent past, that history is part of what makes `Girona interesting. Forget Game of Thrones: this was real life.

You definitely will enjoy it every week day, bit has little tables to eat or drink. During weekends there tend to be enough people to try to go at noon.

This is a beautiful spot in its own right without the need for the GoT association. It’s a lovely place when quieter at the end of day to wander around its linked narrow streets and in the eve too.
