Neighborhood: Barrio Gòtico (Barri Gòtic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

We came across this Market by chance. It was busy and it was excellent. Plenty of fresh food and a wide range of items on offer.

Lots' of choices to shop for fresh fish, a variety of cheese, fruits, baked goods, and vegetables. We liked to buy small portions of ready to eat products and fresh juices while shopping there. There are restaurants around the market, too.

We were so happy that this festival was taking place whilst we were visiting Barcelona. You have to buy tickets to ' spend' on the stalls where local restaurants have made tapas. We drank delicious wine and ate many small portions of delicious food- croquettes, slow cooked lamb, olives etc. There are many wine stalls and places where you can buy cocktails and beer. There are information stands about wine tourism. There are also many stalls where you don't need the tickets. These sold everything from olive oils, honey and juices. It was a beautiful evening but extremely full and you might have to wait to get a place to stand at a table. It is definitely worth it though!

This is a stunning event and market. Excellent local food and wine tastings. Stalls from local Catalan markets and from as far afield as France. Excellent cheap tapas available from many stalls, from €1. Go hungry and thirsty!

We stumbled upon this market at the end of a long day of sightseeing. This beat dinner out for sure. We sampled bites and drank cava in front of the cathedral. What a beautiful surprise!

We were very happy to find that this market was open the weekend we visited Barcelona. And we loved the tapas and wine tastings on offer as well as extensive regional food offerings. If you are in Barcelona in late October, check the schedule and don't miss it.

A great selection of food and wine providers off the catalan region.. A lot of small tapas to sample and decent selection of wines. We will be back next year.

Held around the same time every year in October (this year October 20 - 22) this festival offer many excellent tapas, wine, beer, cheese, music etc. Avoid the crowd and go on Friday. This was a giant party atmosphere and had something for everyone.

If you are looking for tradicional food and drink in Barcelona, you must come here to the anual Mercat de mercats.
I was here with my friends and really enjoyed the local specialities in food. Don't forget to taste the local vines also.
You can spend here easily 2-3 hours without getting bored...
