Neighborhood: Barrio Gòtico (Barri Gòtic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

The Homenatge Als Castellers is a sculpture created in tribute to the castellers or human towers. That is, acrobats who stand on shoulders to form a structure similar to a tower.
This sculpture look like giant steel wires twisted together to mimic the shape of the human towers. A little too abstract for me.

Very creative representation of the castells (human towers). It encouraged me to read into this more and the history/story behind the towers was very interesting. Not much to look at unless you’re willing to read up on it though.

I'm not a big fan of modern art, but this is rather interesting piece. Worth seeing, especially since it's in the centre, very near to the main Cathedral.
Take a drink and relax in nearby cafes.

I came across this work of art close to the cathedral. I have no idea what it represents and wouldn't rush to see it.

Well as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and obviously the committee that decided that this modern structure was a perfect choice for this plaza. I'm sorry but I cannot get excited over this work of art and therefore cannot comment positively about it.

Sometimes I don’t get art. This is one of those cases. It struck me as out of place in an historic district and I didn’t get the point.

Literally almost stumbled onto this artwork after leaving Placa De Jaume , didnt know what it was but a google search later realised that the monument to the Castellers was a wonderful little find , we never saw any castellers in action for the few days we were in Barcelona so will be on the lookout when next in town , the monument is a tower of twisted metal poles which signifies the strength and agility of the human tower builders

Although not one of Barcelona's most famous plaza's, Placa San Miguel is home to this absolutely intriguing piece of street art.
Although at first glance it looks like the wire from a used bottle of champagne it is in fact a monument to thelCastellers of Catalunya, human towers or human pyramids, famous throughout this part of Spain.
I know some people are not fans of this monument but I thought it looked cool ,we passed through Plaza San Miguel while cutting through to Placa Sant Jaume and we couldn't miss this monument, took a few photos and then went on our way.
Well worth checking out if your in the area.

If you wander somewhat if the gothic Barrio you may pass this art. It is nice but certainly not worthwhile a detour

Very ugly and not very representative for the castellers world. I could tell you as a casteller de la Vila de Grà cia.
