We visited with our family on the 1st Sunday in the month (it's free then!)It's incredible walking around the different buildings and imagining it as a working hospital until relatively recently. We were visiting with our son and his family, two wee boys aged 18months...More

Not to be confused with Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau), which is about 1km north of La Sagrada Familia. I visited this place since my hotel is nearby. Building is unassuming. When I was there, the entire...More

This was one of my favorite sites in Barcelona. The refurbishment of the Hospital is spectacular. There are few crowds to contend with. I enjoyed this site as much if not more than Sagrada Familia.

Incredible architrechture--bright, cheerful, fantastical! Wonderful history. Hospital espoused an impressive approach to public healthcare. Not...More

It's good to have a look at it before you see the new Hospital de la Santa Creu and Sant Pau. Lots of homeless people there in the evening...

This place is near the market and La Rambla, not another former hospital near La Sagrada Familia. It is just a huge stone building without many things to offer. One may even pass by without realizing this structure.

Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this
gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an
excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic
spots in the entire city. A sense of humble
authenticity protrudes from the many independent
record stores, second hand shops, and student bars
that seem to light up the streets day and night. The
rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day
