Architectural Delights
Nov 2019
It's a broad boulevard the bisects a large part of the city so there is a lot of traffic and noise. But you can enjoy some really spectacular architecture as you stroll, some of the best examples in town.

So many beautiful bildings

Avinguda Diagonal is a major thoroughfare in Barcelona. As I walked along the entire length of the road from Plaça de Francesc Macià to Monumental, it felt like a showcase of Catalan Modernism given the numerous examples of building built in that style on the road. In fact, Sagrada Familia is just to the north Avinguda Diagonal, near the Monumental subway station.

There's also plenty of cafes and restaurants to stop for a rest while admiring all the buildings.

Great Road
Oct 2018 • Couples
Avinguda Diagonal must be the road that splits Barcelona in half. It actually cuts the city in two, diagonally, hence the name. It was designed that way. Its construction began in mid-19th century. It provided an opportunity for the rich to display their wealth by going around in their elaborate carriages. It has also been in the headlines, either for big demonstrations or other events. It is a very wide street and it is tree lined beautifully all the way. There are some quite interesting trees and other greenery within its confines. It also has many cafes, restaurants and other shops along the way. Walk along this road and you will also love the amazing architecture.

Excellent with the bike
Nov 2018 • Couples
There is a special lane for the bikes and you can bike from beginning to end with no problems. It is a great place to visit when you're in BCN. I advise you to go by bike, by foot or just take a bus. There are great buildings around, historical building but also modern buildings.

Busy and bustling street.
Sep 2018 • Friends
Without a shadow of a doubt Avinguda Diagonal is one of the most impressive streets in Barcelona.
The street is 160 metres wide and 11 kilometres long and is the longest street in Barcelona cutting the city in two,the street runs from Les Corts all the way to the Sant Marti district.
Along this tree lined street you will find all manner of outstandingly beautiful architecture and some really important and stunning landmark sites, there's also some great parks along the street, it's such a super street to stroll along ,the nightlife scene in Barcelona is justifiably famous and along Avinguda Diagonal you will find some of Barcelona's best pub's,bars ,cafe's and restaurants, it really is a street I enjoyed visiting.
Well worth checking out.

It's Got Everything
Aug 2018 • Couples
This avenue, the longest and widest in Barcelona, has it all---hotels, cafes, shopping malls and boutiques, hospitals, universities, parks, a monastery, palaces, and the Camp Nou soccer stadium to mention just some of what is found here. You can catch a tram running down its center or the frequent public buses traversing this route. Well worth a trip down its length.

Widest Barcelona Avenue - Just a Fleeting Glimpse
Dec 2017 • Family
Avinguda Diagonal, the widest street in Barcelona (50 metres wides and 11 kilometres long), is said to cut the city in two which gives it this name. Lined with shops, cinemas, offices, malls our bus drive drown this street seemed good enough with the weather getting cooler. Since construction in late 1850's the street has seen the history of Barcelona unfold on its pavements. With aristocratic carriages hobbling along its pathway to the summer Olympics of 1992 followed by a spate of bomb attacks in 2000 and a tramline is now running down its length since 2010. It lends its name to some of the finest schools in Barcelona viz. the University of Barcelona and University of Catalunya to name a few. Truly for the tourist angle it offers just as my title suggests - a fleeting glimpse !

Barcelona's Broadest Boulevarde
Apr 2018 • Couples
This street dates to 1859 and is approx.11km in length maintaining a constant width of 50m. As per its name, it cuts the City in two, running from Les Corts to Sant Martíi.
It vies with some of the other major arteries of the city for the scale of its buildings, the architecture, schools, shopping centres, entertainment venues and historical sites.
One of the more unusual buildings accessed from this street is the Torre Glòries, a bullet shaped office tower constructed from concrete, steel and aluminium cladding. there are reputedly 4,500 windows in the 34 storey above ground section. The cladding has different colours. One of the main features is the extensive use of LED lighting used to generate different colours when illuminated at night and different occasions throughout the year. This building has a few other names not suitable for TA.
