We had an incredible tour of the Gracia neighbourhood, complemented with both delicious food, insightful information and a great tour guide.
From the start of the tour till the end of the tour, there was not a boring moment with Senem, our tour guide, whose energy was beyond our expectations. She provided us with endless historical facts and was overall the curator of a phenomenal and unforgetful atmosphere which made the tour even better.
We would highly recommend this tour for anyone who would love a better insight into the local history, specialities and culture in general.

I highly recommend the Gracia Food Tour from Culinary Backstreets. Our guide, Senem, was charismatic, funny, full of information, and extremely organized. The food that I had on this tour was so different than food that I had on the rest of my trip. I especially enjoyed breakfast, the olive oil tasting, and the bakery! At every stop, Senem explained how that restaurant/store/bar was representative of events or influences that shaped the history of Barcelona. At the end of the tour, my belly was full, and I was so glad that I chose Culinary Backstreets!

My wife and I normally shy away from anything labled "tour," preferring instead to do research beforehand and then explore on our own. Our recent experience with the Culinary Backstreets organization in Barcelona has changed that perception. We saw the great reviews for Culinary Backstreets' events in Istanbul and decided we would try them in Barcelona during a short visit in early December. On an earlier trip seven years ago, we had briefly touched on the upscale Gracia neighborhood and were delighted that one of the tours covered that area in depth. Since December is not exactly the height of the tourist season, we were the only couple with our guide Paula on a cool, drizzly day. They never have more than six people on a tour. The morning started with freshly made churros at a small stand off the Passeig de Gracia and continued through the day, stopping in shops, bakeries, markets, restaurants, wine shops and a small bar to savor Catalan Vermouth ... places that we would have completely missed had we been on our own. Paul not only exposed us to the culinary delights of the Gracia neighborhood, but also provided a nice history of the area, its residents and its position in Barcelona. If you have the time (9:30a-4:00p) and want an unusual and delightful experience, we would highly recommend Culinary Backstreets. Istanbul is on our list of future visits and we certainly will sign up with Culinary Backstreets to acquaint us with the culture and food.

We loved this tour. It was off-season so we had the guide all to ourselves! However the max is 7 people which is why we love Culinary Backstreets. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but we went to the Sants market and a bunch of little places all known for what they make. It was Calcot (spring onion) season, so we got to see a group of locals roasting up a large amount of these onions for a community event. Although this tour cost more than others, it covers an area that we would have never seen or understood on our own. We've also been on their Istanbul food tours as well, which is what made me want to try this one.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Nick learning about the food, history and culture of the Gracia of Catalonia. We highly recommend this tour. Nick is a personable and professional guide which made us feel at home in Barcelona. We learned so much from him and really enjoyed and appreciated all the food. Thank you, Culinary Backstreets, and Nick for another outstanding experience!!

My wife and I recently went on the Culinary Backstreets tour for Barcelona. If you like food, this tour is a must. We went into places we never would have found on our own or even through a guide book. We tasted all kinds of interesting food, had a great walk with a small group of really nice people, and learned some really interesting things about Barcelona neighborhoods.
We also came out of the tour with lots of other recommendations. Almost every restaurant we ate at in Barca came from a Culinary Backstreets recommendation and we had, I think, the best eating vacation we've ever had.
I'm burying the lede here but our tour guide was really great. He was friendly, funny, knowledgeable and well-informed. The tour was well-paced and well-structured. You eat a lot but you don't wind up feeling over-full - though you should definitely bring an appetite!
We've been on all kinds of small group tours in several countries and this tour was among our very favorites. We heartily recommend this tour.

We loved our day with Dave exploring the neighborhood of Gracia. Dave shared lots of interesting information about the culture, food history, architecture, and development of Barcelona. We tried churros, ham, cheese, vermouth, wine, salted cod, chocolates, and many more treats. We did another culinary backstreets tour in Istanbul and both times have loved getting to learn about a city through these tours and get recs for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful Barcelona food tour with Dave! He introduced us to various local businesses in the authentic parts of town. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and introduced us to a variety of foods. He has given us many suggestions on different restaurants and sights to see in the area!! My husband and I would definitely recommend this to anyone planning a visit to Barcelona.
