The area
Address
Neighborhood: Poblenou
The futuristic Agbar Tower stands out from Barcelona's skyline in Poblenou. It is no coincidence then that this area of town is the newly crowned technological park of the city, its own mini Silicon Valley containing a tech incubator (Barcelona Activa) as well as a host of local and international high tech companies. To accommodate the onrush of new residents and workers, the area of Poblenou has seen a surge of activity in new high-rise residential buildings and two top-notch shopping centers catering to everyone's need. The ambiance of this area is calmer than the city center and the beautifully relaxing Bogatell Beach, popular with locals, is just a handful of blocks away.

Well worth the extra 20 minutes on the bus to get to this beach. *much* nicer than Barceloneta, quieter (though still busy) and much cleaner. One end is nudist but only in a fairly moderate kind of way.

I attended the free Orchestra on the beach and it was amazing. Sound was perfect, ambient and we were all in awe listening to the band. It’s free organised events like this that introduce people to new genre of music and they go to paid events later. Good work Barcelona!!!!

Loved this beach, it was such a chilled vibe and felt very safe. There wasnt anyone pushing to sell stuff like on some other beaches. The sea was beautiful and clear, there was a volleyball area and a lot of locals which was lovely. Also plenty of food and drink options around.

If you are looking for a good beach to go to in Barcelona, this is the one for you. My mother and I spent most of our first day here at this beautiful beach. I love how you can rent beach chairs and there is a couple restaurants nearby.

Whenever possible I like to have a "beach day" during travel when there is no schedule for part of the day. This was a great beach but crowded. It was a nice walk down the Las Ramblas del Pobleneu from my hotel.

Better than Barceloneta beach as it is slightly further away from the tourist area although not by much.

The restaurants with views of the beach in Bogatell are much better than in Barceloneta and the beach is cleaner.

If you want to go to a beach in BCN, the further you go from Barceloneta the better - if you still want to go to a city beach, Selva de Mar is even more local than Bogatell and only a couple of metro stops further from the centre than chaotic, touristy and expensive Barceloneta

Having lived in a beach community for several years, I know a great beach when I see it. Simply put, Bogatel Beach is clean, has very clean sea water, has plenty of space for soaking up the sun or playing around doing beach activities. This beach is especially popular among Mediterranean Sea lovers, as the water is beautiful, and there is so much to do at the beach as well as nearby. If you love beaches, this is a must-do in Barcelona!

The beach is lovely, the water is nice and on paper it has everything you would want. The restaurant on the front is lovely for food and the hurricane cocktail is AMAZING.

BUT you cant relax there
- lucky lucky men are relentless. They stalk people. It went from polite "no thank yous" to "NO".
- they run away when the police arrive, its amusing. They take the stuff away from the ones they catch and dig up their drinks they burry.
- we witnessed a man casually filming topless women when he was on facetime with friends but couldn't prove it
- never leave your bags unattended. We were sat next to some fellow brits and took turns with watching each others belongings.
- the hightlight being a random angry man tried to slap some random woman and was taken down by three undercover police officers with battons. He was led away to then escape and run back for his shoes. It was unbelievably entertaining.

We spent four hours there before deciding that it was best to stick to our hotel.

This is a better option among the multiple Barcelona beaches which is easily accessible by public transport - the sand is nice, the beach is relatively clean and the water is pleasant. I was safe because I always carried my valuables with me in a water proof pouch as Barcelona is notorious for pickpockets. Unfortunately there are a lot of haggling (beach towels, beer, water, massage, etc) but these people aren't pushy nor aggressive. There are showers and changing cabinets and multiple cafes nearby.

This was the closest beach to our hotel, and thankfully it was by far the least crowded out of all the BCN beaches that we saw.

There was always space at the restaurants, on the loungers and was never too busy.

Loads of people playing volleyball, so keeps you entertained while relaxing!

The best restaurant/bar there was Vai Moana for us, we had breakfast and lunch there and they had a great selection of drinks!
