Neighborhood: Barrio Gòtico (Barri Gòtic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.

The main square before you enter the historic quarter, Plaza Nova in front of the Barcelona Cathedral (Proudly brought to you by Samsung). There were two amazing buskers doing really well for themselves at either end of the market - one rocking Pink Floyd and one the Beatles, a great vibe, this area is known for its buskers.

The Gothic Antique Market. is also located in the square, during our visit It was a beautiful night and dusk, there we many items on display and well priced.

There is always something going on in the square... music, dancing, a few little stores and restaurants. The center of the square is Barcelona Cathedral. It’s beautiful! ! Don’t miss it! We are Catholic and went to mass. That was a neat experience!

Wonderful three day food and festival in late October in front of the Barcelona Cathedral. Tickets are purchased to select a number of tapas from leading restaurants and bars in the city as well as wine and cava from a number of producers. There are also dozens of other stalls from artisanal food and wine producers where food can be purchased for consumption or to take home, perhaps 70 stalls in all. Attendees are generally locals as the scene is far to chaotic for the structure of tours. Our experience was one of great tapas, great cava and a great vibe all wrapped into one

Mercat Gotic is held every Thursday from 10:00 to 20:00 on the Cathedral Square. There are many stalls selling secondhand antiques.

Right outside the gothic Cathedral - some decent quality vendors - good mix of older wares, silver, advertising etc - took the vendors a while to "set up" in the morning but there is plenty to do in the area if you arrive early as I did

We stumbled upon this quaint little market by pure chance while taking a long stroll through the Gothic Quarter. It was a very hot day and there was no shade in the middle of this square, other than small shelters over the stalls themselves.
The stalls were selling mainly second-hand curios and antiques. There was also a stall selling coins and bank notes. We did not find anything there of any great interest to us and as a consequence of the heat, we moved on fairly quickly.
This market appeared to cater more for the local customers rather than catering for tourists!

Stumbled upon this little market by accident. Full to the brim with antiquities, oddities and buzzard items from war time memorabilia through to jewellery and fine china. After a quick rummage, we found some beautiful champagne flutes and a bracelet for my mum.
