Beautiful little square in the heart of the Gracia neighborhood, known for its bars, restaurants, and nightlife. There are three different café-bars on the square, all of which are about the same. I like the one called La Cafetera the best. It seems to be the friendliest. Any of the three is a great spot to hang out and have very reasonably priced drinks and snacks. Very popular with locals, so popular that you may have to wait for a table outside. Highly recommended for an authentic Barcelona experience.

Note: Barcelona, known for its beauty, is also known for its pickpockets. Gracia is much safer than Ciutat Vella, but even here, keep an eye on your belongings.

We stumbled upon this quaint plaza during our recent exploration to Barcelona, and I am so glad that we did. The weather was perfect, and the food at one of the cafes was delicious. There was even a musician singing quietly during our lunch. It was the perfect place to experience off-the-beaten-path Barcelona. I felt that I visited Spain the traditional way, by sitting and enjoying the day and watch the world walk by.

Placa de la Virreina is a nice little square in a Barcelona, if you can find it! If you keep walking around the streets of the Vila de Gracia district, you will come across it somehow. There are a few cafes and restaurants in the area and you can choose an outside table, have a coffee and watch the world go by. The architecture of surrounding buildings is quite lovely too. In the immediate vicinity and a bit further, there are many other shops, entertainment places, theatres, cinemas, art galleries and other interesting establishments. Worth a walk there!

We found this beautiful and busy plaza as we were wandering around this part of town and what a great find.
Typical of many of the squares you will find in the Gracia neighbourhood, the architecture is cool looking, there's some really nice cafes and restaurants in the plaza and the streets leading into the plaza are teeming with great little bars, pubs and restaurants, it's such a really nice plaza and area and well worth checking out.

We visited this place both in the day and at night. So quiet and peaceful during the day! At night it comes to life though and is very charming - not too busy like La Sol. Had a wonder meal with drinks at La Cafetera. BEST potatas bravas we’ve had in Barcelona! The pepitas were fabulous also - that bread was to die for. Great attentive service - outside dining. Wonderful experience both times we were there. LOVE Gràcia!
