You get traditional professional service in a traditional setting. Somewhat old fashioned in some regards but the food is excellent. A good range of 'tapas' style dishes and The Truita de Patatas sandwich and the croquettes are notable.
Their pastries are deservedly famous and scrummy.
Gets busy at lunchtime, of course. Has an option to take the food away or eat in.
Highly recommended.

My husband and I enjoyed sitting at the the outdoor dining area (terraza) at mauri on two different occasions, First, late night, for a glass of wine and some tapas like jamón ibérico, croquetas, pa amb tomat, etc. We even tried a lemon mousse and cheese mousse. Both were delicious. The next day we returned for coffee and tried the opera cake and the sacher cake. Again, delicious! Nice portions, good prices and great service. Grab a bite at this place! Sit at the outdoor terrace, people watch, enjoy something sweet or salty. You can’t go wrong. Truly!

WHEN: We lunched and breakfasted there October 2019

WHAT: Grand bakery, restaurant with outdoor cafe

MEAL: This place is remiscent of La Belle Époque with its modernisme decorative style on the interior. We had a tapa lunch there, padron peppers, shrimp and the best of the patatas bravas I had in Spain. The potatoes were perfect and the brava was a whipped together spicy aioli - just delicious.

We had a quick typical spanish breakfast there, a coffee and a pastry and it was super reasonable at 3 euros for the three of us.

Go - you'll enjoy it

SERVICE: No-nonsense cafe-efficient

ANYTHING ELSE? If you hang out in the bakery very long, you are going to have to buy something - you won't be able to resist the temptation. THere are marvels in those cases

I went there for breakfast, and wow I love the place it’s so nice, they have a big selection of sandwiches & bakery.
It’s really tempting, and it difficult to not eat, the smell of the fresh bakery force you to eat.
Definitely I will again & again
It’s located in La Rambla, Catalunya 102
Enjoy 😉

We told a break from the rain and ate in the cafe next to the restaurant. Ordered little sandwiches and pastries at the counter and then had bar service for drinks. Great selection. They specialize in extravagant displays of chocolate but their little cakes and lunch bites are perfect if you are not interested in having a huge midday meal. A nice break on a touring (and pouring!) day.

Lovely to eat out on Rambla de Catalunya. Staff and service were great. Menu del dia was deliciously home made. I loved it. For €16 menu del dia was well worth it. Only down side was all the beggars who bother you every few minutes. That's something Catalunya needs to sort out.

Mauri definitely looks like one of the better places to have lunch. The food and drink proved good. House red, Rioja, croquettes, excellent ham, fine pimientos. All good and served with a big smile.
