The area
Address
Neighborhood: El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.

We were recommended this place by a friend of a friend who lives in Barcelona. There are a couple of tables outside and a few inside. It's quite small and narrow and very casual/ low key. We were a party of 3 with a 1.5 year old. It wasn't very busy, our reservation was at 8pm and while the tables outside were full inside was empty. The staff were fantastic, they didn't speak a lot of English but did have English versions of their menu and were very cute and friendly to our little guy. The tapas was exceptional! Every dish that came we were so impressed with and ate the lot! I travel to Barcelona a lot and have eaten a lot of tapas but this really was fantastic and a great find. We had several dishes and it came to €54 including beers - absolute bargain for he food quality! Hugely recommend.

We came access bar Ramon by chance as it was in the next block to where we were staying. Did a quick review on it before popping in during the day to book a table for dinner (yes you are advised to book). The food was excellent and the waitress extremely attentive (although little English it was easy to get by). We weren't sure exactly what we were ordering for all the dishes but I don't think you could go wrong. Just pick anything and it think it will be delicious. So pleased we found this place. Do yourself a favour and try to eat a meal there.
