We had a wonderful time touring Barcelona with Sonia. She was very easy to get in touch with and communicate. She was always very responsive. We toured Picasso Museum and had a walking tour of Gothic Quarter, Old Town and Jewish Quarter. Sonia was very pleasant, knoledgable and engaging with my family of aduls and two teen girls. She met us at the museum. She was very pleasant and friendly. She gave us "whisper ear buds" so that we could easily hear her. She knew so much about Picasso and his art. We learned interesting information about Barcelona's past and present, art and life of Picasso. Sonia's English is very good and she is patient, funny and energetic. Sonia knew every street and every corner, and took us to many places in the Gothic Quarter, showed us the best chocolate candy that we all enjoyed. Highly recommend Sonia for her personality, abundant knowledge, passion for art and history and engaging presenation.

This was the first visit to Barcelona for my husband and myself. After doing research on things to do and places to visit I was feeling a little overwhelmed. A few days before we set to depart a client and I was talking about my trip and she just so happened to have visited and suggested to contact Sandra Benzal and Sonia Viver for private tours.
This was the best decision ever!! Sandra took us on a private tour to Pere Ventura for a Cava tasting. The winery was outside of the city, so we were able to see the countryside of Barcelona as well as the mountains. The drive to the winery and learning about the culture of Spain from Sandra was an incredible experience. We were treated with first class service from the time of pick up to drop off.
The next day we met Sonia and she took us to Old Town/Jewish Quarter, which she gave us such an in-depth history of Barcelona. She showed us places to eat, shop and the food market. We strolled past Passeig de Gracia to see different buildings of different architects in order to get to know the city’s history.
Overall both tours were well worth it and would highly suggest it to any one visiting Barcelona. Both Sandra and Sonia can get tickets to any of the most visited places in Barcelona, such as Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila or Park Guell to name a few.
Where else can you experience the city, sea, countryside and mountains all with a private tour.

Sandra is excellent! She led the two of us on a half day walking tour to give an overview of Barcelona, its history and highlights. Sandra is deeply knowledgeable and passionate about her city, and did a great job getting us oriented and excited to explore the city on our own the next several days. She provided context and depth that reflect a lifelong familiarity, not merely rote stories typical of guidebooks. It really was the perfect introduction to the city. Highly recommended.

I can not recommend Sonia more highly. We have never used a private guide before, but this was our first time traveling as a family to Europe (2 parents, 2 teenage sons) and we were feeling a little overwhelmed. A friend had recommended Sonia so at the very last minute we decided to indulge. Best decision ever! From the minute she met us at our hotel with a smile on her face and "whisper ear buds" for our ears (so that we could all hear her easily even in crowds) we knew we had made the right decision. Not only was Sonia incredibly knowledgeable about her city's history, both past and present, but she was also just a pleasure to be around. She was funny and friendly, and flexible - super helpful when you're traveling with teens. Sonia's 4 hour tour took us along the Passeig de Gracia, through Old Town and ultimately ended at Park Guell where she used her tour guide clout to get us in when other tourists might have been discouraged. We had such a great time with Sonia on our walking tour that we decided to hire her again for a food tour the next evening. Second best decision ever! Our evening was well researched, well thought out and ended with the most amazing bombas at Cala del Vermut -- followed by a spontaneous gelato palate cleanser on the walk home : ). Touring with Sonia truly made our vacation complete. I can't recommend her highly enough.

What makes this tour so special is Sònia’s enthusiasm to show us her city. She is exuberant, knowledgable, friendly, candid, and fun. We have hired private guide tours all over the world, and this day was something special. From our first encounter till our farewell, we learned so much about Barcelona. And at the end, Sònia helped us map out the rest of our stay so we were prepared on our own for the next 3 days. I highly recommend hiring Sònia. It will be the highlight of your trip.

Sandra was a real pleasure to tour with. She knew everything, was clear, very flexible, and an a joy to be around. She was able
to eep the tours moving and keep them interesting, which is necessary when touring with children. She had an extensive knowledge of history as well as modern Catalan culture. I would recommend her to anyone.

I had done much research on potential guides for our visit to Barcelona long before our visit and ultimately decided on "A Guide in Barcelona" after reading many reviews and after some very helpful initial email correspondence.
We spent 2 days with Sonia in early July and she was terrific. We toured all the major Gaudi spots as well the Gothic areas, Park Gruell, and many more locations. Sonia was very knowledgeable in all areas and was extremely easy to converse with. We also coordinated a trip to Mont Serrat with Sonia on our 2nd which was just great. Sonia knew I was a photo enthusiast and was very helpful in having the driver of the well equipped van stop frequently for some great shots along the way.
My family travels quite frequently and Sonia was a standout guide and so much more than that. Book her for your trip and you'll be in so very pleasantly satisfied. Thank You, Sonia!

Had Sonia show us her city while in Barcelona with my wife in early June. She is knowledgeable, articulate, personable, understanding and a pleasure to spend 5 hours with. She fine tuned our itinerary, helped us plan out our 3 days in Barcelona and couldn't have been more helpful. A wonderful day due to her attention and guidance.

We had never been to Barcelona before and found Sonia Viver on Tripadvisor and made contact online. We hired her for 3 half days and left the agenda up to her. She is delightful -- very knowledgeable about the history of the city, all things Gaudi, culture, language, food -- you name it! She is extremely well organized, flexible and fun to be with. We even had her go to the Picasso Museum with us and that was well worth it, better than audio tour because we could ask questions, she knew all the answers. She is multilingual and her English is perfect. Couldn't ask for a better guide.

Sonia was a spectacularly educated and vibrant tour guide. We learned more about Gaudi in a 4 hour tour with her than we ever would have learned by reading guide books ourselves. She walked us through Park Guell and Sagrada Familia while explaining the historical context of Barcelona as well as details of Gaudi's life. I was very impressed with the level of detail in her knowledge.
In addition to the main sight tours though, Sonia provided us with many tips and recommendations on fabulous (yet affordable) restaurants, shopping areas, and other things to do. She guided us through El Born and La Rambla, pointing out specific areas we should explore on our own later on.
Her English was perfect, and she speaks so many different languages fluently! Our trip to Barcelona would not have been as meaningful if it weren't for her. I highly, highly recommend Sonia.

We only used the metro and easily bought a ticket for 10 trips at an automatic machine at a main metro station. Paid on credit card. Its very efficient and as you use it prints how many journeys you have had on your ticket. A single journey counts as one, so a return is two. There is a limit to the area or zone you can use it in , but I recall it worked fine for all the main city sights.

We are a party of 4 coming to Barcelona on evening of 9/13. We are looking for a 4 to 6 hour Gaudi tour on 9/14. We get on a cruise ship on 9/15. Is walking or chaffeured better? Do you pick up at hotel?

Answering your questions:
1) About walking or chaffered it totally depends on your group and on the tour you want to do.
A Highlights tour can only be done using a car+ driver.
The Gaudí tour or the Old Town tour we can manage using taxis or subways, in all cases remember that you will be the only ones on that tour, I mean you do not share the guide with other people and we are going to adequate the rhythm of the tour to your possibilities, always respecting the tour hours.
Yes, normally the pick up is at the hotel , if the hotel is within the city limits of Barcelona.
Judy here is a more accurate description of what we visit in a 4 hours Gaudí tour and the updated prices of tickets to each Gaudí building;
GAUDÍ Tour . 4 hours .
Barcelona is famous for the works of the architect Antoni Gaudí.
This is the tour everybody wants, if you only have one day, do our Gaudí tour.
We will visit:
Park Guell. ( optional visit inside) Ticket price p.p. 8 Eur.
Sagrada Familia Church ( we strongly suggest to go inside ) Ticket price p.p.. 15 Eur.
Casa Milà ( optional inside visit) Ticket price per person: 20,50 Eur.
Casa Batlló (optional inside visit) Ticket price p.p.: 21,50 Eur.
The 4 hours tour allows to go inside Casa Milà OR Casa Batlló, if you prefer to see them from the outside that will give us time for a nice walk on Passeig de Gràcia street with an overview of buildings from other architects who worked and the same period as Gaudí, with their own personal style.
