So many people I have never seen in my life. It was very loud, because everyone was standing and talking with each other. But as soon as the first fountain of all involved subsided. I looked with admiration at the fountain dance to the famous song Barcelona. It was very beautiful and magical. Splashes of water which flew up to... More

This was an overwhelming experience for me, really special and it's shocking that it's free. I would advise everyone to see this if you can.

wonderful orchestra of light and sound ! a lovely way to start your evening. make sure you check beforehand what days and times the fountain has its shows. arrive 15 minutes in advance to save yourself a sitting spot as it is a popular place, and is fully packed by the time the show begins.

Amazing. Go at night to watch the fountain change colour to the sound of music from Rock to Opera. Take a bottle of bubbles (you can buy it there but it is mega dear) and sit on the steps and enjoy. Take the esculator or steps to the top for an amazing view. Great atmosphere and busy

We returned 3 years later, although we already visited the place. The fountains opened at 7 pm in February, until 8:30 pm. The place is very crowded, but the light and music show is very enjoyable

Great end to our first day in barcelona. At thr moment the show is only on a Friday and Saturday evening so you need to plan around that. It's stunning to see it all lit up and the different colours. Well worth seeing

So easy to access from the metro station. Setting of multiple fountains leading up to the magic fountain and the back drop all add to the atmosphere. It's also free! Well worth a visit

Staying in Montjuic

Neighborhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colorful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
