The area
Neighborhood: Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

Book this experience!

My wife and I went to Marta's apartment for her famous Paella class, and guess what? It was just as fantastic as all the other reviews! We were with a delightful local family in the class and we all participated in preparing the dish. Marta takes time to explain the why behind every step and when you eat the finished product, you are richly rewarded. A big highlight of our 2-week trip to Spain. This is not only a huge VALUE it is fun and you get to eat the best paella you will ever have. Loads of shrimp, langistino, mussels, etc. Because their are fewer tourists right now you may have a more personalized experience. Good time for the class!

Beautiful and tasty!

Marta was fun, funny and knowledgeable. She explained the process of making paella and picking out your ingredients while also giving us great tips that can take a paella from good to great! I found the experience to be accessible to all (we had a group of 6 with various levels of cooking experience) and Marta did her best to ensure everyone was included. The paella tasted amazing and it looked beautiful.

Overall, I feel like I now have the skills to be able to attempt it on my own at home.

My finance and I went after a friend recommended her class. We looked online at her ratings but didn’t read them. Overall, we had a great experience and funny memories from the class. My partner has attended a paella cooking class before and this was a very different experience. Your experience will really be based on what you want from a “cooking class.” Martha offers the chance to get to know ingredients on a deeper and historical level. She also gives you the chance to see a very meticulous amateur cook demo how to cook the dish from start to finish, with a lot of explanations of her technique and rationale. I’m sure that you will get a lot out of the experience if you’re interested in local cuisine and history.

Wonderful Experience

Wonderful Experience
There are multiple schools in Barcelona that give paella classes. However, Marta’s class is a real personal experience of cooking paella in the home of a local. I really enjoyed the class and look forward to trying out my technique when I return home. When you factor in the meal you enjoy as part of the class, the experience is a great value!

Marta’s magical Paella Masterclass
Jul 2021
If you want a unique Barcelona cooking experience, then Marta’s inspirational paella masterclass is for you. You don’t even have to consider yourself a cook to enjoy it, as Marta takes you through each stage of the recipe, preparation, cooking and taste experience. Her clear, concise explanation of her recipe inspires confidence. The convivial atmosphere she provides, the congeniality of fellow travellers eager to join in too is infectious. It’s like a little cooking club. Marta encourages hands on participation, but this is never forced. We chopped, sliced and seasoned under her guidance. Our small group of 5, feasted on our delicious paella at the end of the evening all inspired to go home and have a go ourselves. You come away with not only a recipe to cook a paella, but a feeling of contentment and pleasure from doing something that little bit different. Call Marta and book yourself in, you won’t regret it.
