Address
Neighborhood: El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.

It’s surely well-known and maintains a decent selection of wines, especially the premium ones. But to be honest, I didn’t find it so much better than many other, ordinary wine-shops around the city. Though it’s an advantage that the staff speaks better English, making it easier for the tourists like us decide in an informed manner. I’ve got an average class 2009 priorat by Artigas (19€) and a very smooth Josep Foraster 2012 (11€) suggested by the staff once I laid down my criterion. They also have a restaurant as well as a shop where they sell cured meat, cheese and canned food next to one another.

We dined at the 2 star Michelin restaurant Lasarte and here we taste an amazing Brandy. I asked the waiter where I could buy this Brandy and he directed me to Vila Vini Teca. This wine and spirits shop is truly amazing. The prices are reasonable compared to other shops in Barcelona.

We visited this shop twice, looking for Spanish wines. The price range of the wines is certainly wider than the usual ones in the supermarket; I can't say whether the SAME wine would cost more or less in other places. The first time we visited the store was slightly more busy, and we were left pretty much to our own devices to browse. They did have two wines out for tasting, then. The second visit the store was empty, and one of the staff took the trouble to talk us through various options for Spanish wines to bring home. They didn't push the most expensive option, and took time to find out what sorts of tastes we were looking for. They wrapped the wines in bubble-wrap, and provided a cardboard box on request.
And, they spoke English, which was very important to us!

Quint shop in Nice neighbourhood BUT very rude and conacending staff.
Went in to by a piece of manchego cheese as a gift for a friend, they staff didn't seem very interested to
help us at all. Doesn't seem like they care much for tourists.
As we went to pay, two of the employees that were helping us blatantly stood right in front of us
talking about us and insulting us in
Spanish, for instance how we had
checked the price on the cheese and
other spiteful comments, it was like
entertainment for them. And I have a
feeling they do this ALOT!
A tip for the staff (if you read this) just cause someone doesn't
Speak Spanish (a bit rusty so don't
feel comfortable speaking it much
anymore) doesn't mean they can't
understand what you are saying, I'm
fluent in English, Swedish and know
Italian and did Spanish in school.
Also, people come to enjoy your
amazing city and everything it has to
offer, especially your wonderful
cousine. You have no idea who we are,
where we come from or how much money
we have to spend. None of this should
even matter, you should treat everyone the same and show them the same respect you would like if you
where visiting their city. Being
stuck up you a.. and think you are better than someone is not a appealing trait in your buissness or in life.
I would have easy got more items in here hadn't it been for feeling so unwelcome. Having worked in the service and restaurant buissness for over 15 years in very high standard restaurants, amongst them a Spanish one, I'm very well aware of what I want and know good food.

I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone, there are so many lovely delis and authentic food shops with amazing warm and welcoming service in Barcelona. Luckily enough this didn't ruin the amazing weekend we had in this beautiful city.

Visited this wine shop on the strength of the recommendations here. I really enjoy my wine, and while I know what I like, I would always like a helpful hand in choosing a local 'speciality'. I didn't get that here. I was pretty much ignored by the staff (who spent their time shouting up and down the stairs to each other). Be careful that you check the price listed in per bottle, not per case! I eventually picked a wine that was more than satisfactory - but it was from a vineyard which I was familiar with, so no great adventure there.
Good selection, but you may be left to your own devices choosing your evening tipple!

Great selection with very good prices, we were passing by Barcelona to Rioja's wine festival, and a friend of mine told me about this place. We bought more then 30 bottles of different producers, and they delivered at next day. Perfect service.

We stay in this neighborhood (el Born, near Santa Maria del Mar basilica) when we visit Barcelona. Our first stop is always this shop (deli with wine shop across the street) for a few provisions for the flat (jamon cut to order, aged goat cheese, a chunk of bread, marmelade, boquerones, a couple mandarins, and some vermouth).

The wine selection is huge, and reasonably priced, but when I asked about shipping a case, the cost was over 200€ - twice what I pay from Tuscany

The food shop has a great selection, but is very spendy. I save my serious shopping (especially for olive oil, conservas, and other things to bring home for gifts) for the boqueria, or the Santa Caterina market, or a couple of small older family-run shops scattered in the Gothic Quarter.

It is in a tourist neighborhood, so staff speak english if needed. Highly recommended.

Great place!
If you’re looking for Spanish ham, olives, cheese, or wine, then this is your place. They have an online store and they can ship it!
We had lunch here with ham, cheese, olives, and wine, and it was all excellent.

This is definitely the spot to buy your wine. The selection is unbelievable and there are bottles for every taste and price range. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. All in all an incredibly fun shopping experience.

Amazing selection of wines. Since I'm only a newbie to wine, I didn't even know where to begin, but the staff was extremely helpful and not even slightly snobbish. Be prepared to wait a while to be attended, but in return, you'll get 100% focus.

I'm actually quite proud of the norwegian wine store "Vinmonopolet" (yes it's a monopoly) and their level of knowledge, but this was a quite different experience, especially since some of the wines came from only a few miles away. Thus they could tell personal stories of the producers and their family background. We don't usually get that in Norway. It's cool to bring home a wine with a little story and special memories.
