The area

Address
Neighborhood: El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.

These are very talented musicians and dancers. It was amazing to see them and I almost went a second time to see them but I did not have enough time on my trip. Seeing them and especially at the Palau de Musica de Catalunya which was so beautiful was one of the best experience of my trip!

Fantastic show that lives on in the memory some 7 months after our visit to Barcelona last Christmas. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon in the beautiful palau de la musica - why pay for the tour of the venue when you can enjoy such fabulous and entertaining music that leaves you with a smile on your face when the concert is over. Just a brilliant way to spend a couple of hours. Hint - we booked on line and picked up our tickets early to avoid the queues.

We attended this show as a family in Barcelona's Palau de la Musica Catalana. First off the building itself is quite a sight. I believe you can have tours on non performance days. We attended the cuatro guitarras performance and the music was absolutely amazing. They have quite the talent and the mix of music styles and interpretations was fabulous. Their 'helper' Luis was a humorous addition to the show as well. Never a dull moment, highly recommend! The artists were even available to autograph their CDs and DVDs after the show.

This is not to miss if they're on when in Barcelona .
It's a group of 4 , two men and two ladies that play wonderful music from classical to jazz . The show includes some joking around by the players and unique abilities of all 4 playing one guitar.
The audience stood up for them several times - including a 5 year old who obviously loved the show.
It's a show for everyone - it doesn't matter whether you are classical music lover or are more into rock
You will love it
I went to the concert held in palau de musica and the beauty of the place just matched the magical music.
They also play in different histoical churches- check thier website for concerts and tickets

I have been in Barcelona about 10 times within the past 5 years and must said that this concert was something AMAZING!! A hidden gem in the middle of the gothic village!

They have different artists playing in different shows. The one I had was Ekaterina Zaytseva and she was INCREDIBLE!!

If you want to do something out of the "touristic stuff and at incredible low price, then you MUST go to this concert!

We saw the variation "Maestros de la Guitarra Espanola" at Paula de la Musica Catalana with four guitarists. I play the classical guitar, have listened to many gifted guitarists, and expected a serious concert. What we got seemed to me like a good guitar concert in Disneyland. The musicians' guitars were amplified, and the sound quality was poor -- the highs were missing, and the sound was mostly midrange, creating a muffled sound like a concert played through an old AM car radio. We also didn't expect the jokes -- the "who's lute is bigger bit", the upside-down sheet music bit, and the supposedly irate stagehand. The crowd ate these things up, but I suspect that many in the audience were not there for a serious concert and couldn't have told the difference. I understand that you sometimes have to please large groups of people who don't necessarily know when something doesn't sound as good as it could, but maybe this organization can find a way to tip off the potential concertgoers who are looking for a serious concert with high-quality sound, because those people may want to know what they're getting into ahead of time. That said, the guitarists certainly do know how to play, and the building is beautiful.

Dear Ginger 003, We're really sorry that you are disappointed with your experience during one of our shows. We understand you might have bought your tickets thinking that you were heading to one kind of recital, but ended on another. However, we must disagree with you concerning the way we advertised the concert. Barcelona 4 Guitars is a formation that has been offering hundreds of concerts in Barcelona for more than 6 years and has been always announced as an evening of "humor of virtuosity" and as a "Spanish guitar concert to the whole family", also on our website and on the websites of the venues. If you do a quick research about them, you will realize that all of the four guitarists are awarded musicians and that the objective of the show is to reach a wider public, not only classical guitar lovers. Regarding the use of microphones, we chose to do it - and it's not always an easy step to take! - in order to fairly guarantee that everyone in the venue will live a similar experience. For this, we work with some of the best sound engineers in the country. In any case, we hope you had a pleasant return home and we do expect that one day, if you return to Barcelona, although your first experience, you will decide to come again to see us (maybe to another show). Everyone deserves a second chance, don't you think? :) Just contact us, as it will be an honor to have you as our guest. Yours faithfully, Maestros de la Guitarra

I can think of no better way to spend an evening than by enjoying a performance by this group. First, the setting, the beautiful Palau de la Musica Cantalana is worth a visit in its own right. The performance itself features light classics, sometimes in a new light, that are both accessible and intriguing. Then there are the comedy and the quirky 'surprises'. I have never laughed so hard at a classical music performance. Will definitely attend again next time I am in Barcelona.

If you are in Barcelona and see that this event is available, you must go, especially if its in the Music Palace (worth a visit in its own right). The musicians are fabulous, talented, serious and hilarious in equal measure.

This show was spellbinding! I had wanted to do an interior tour of the Palau de la Musica and then I looked on their website and saw that there was a concert at the time we would be there and I booked directly thru them. I chose first row center balcony seats which I feel gave a better view of the theater and performers than ground floor seats.
The building is one of, if not the most beautiful theaters I've seen and the performers were absolutely spectacular. The guitarists are world class and the 2 dancers were equally good. Apparently they have different performers that rotate. We went on June 3 and couldn't have been more thrilled and excited by the performance. I cannot recommend this concert and venue highly enough and would go see them again in a heartbeat!
