My two adult sons and I recently joined a “LivingIt” tour of Montserrat Monastery and Natural Park from Barcelona. The cost was £175 for the three of us. Our tour guide was Barbara who was a warm and charming woman who had excellent English. It turned out that only the three of us were on the days tour so we effectively got a tour tailored to the Davidson family. The tour was due to start at what seemed a hideously early time of 8:15 but Barbara explained this was to miss the crowds which would gather later in the day. As it happened the mini bus was over half an hour late but Barbara filled the time chatting away telling us about what we were going to see later.

When the mini bus arrived it was new, clean and air conditioned. It took about half an hour to get to Montserrat and it dropped us off at the door of the monastery. We went round the monastery which was stunning and made even better by Barbara’s explanations.

After the tour we walked further up the hill to a vantage point that gave us a panoramic views of the mountains. Our visit was in early February and the mists that swirled in and out of the valleys were eerily beautiful. The walk time was about 30-40 min and while steep at times on rough concrete paths there were plenty of places you could have stopped and rested if we had need to. I’d say that sensible walking shoes would be essential for this part of the trip. At the summit Barbara produced a Spanish/Catalan drinking porron (flask) with local wine and local curds based pudding. After several enjoyable minutes eating and pouring wine all over my face, much to the amusement of my sons, we headed back down to the monastery to hear a children’s choir. However fate stepped in and the church cancelled the choir unexpectedly. None the less it was a highly entertaining trip lasting almost 7hrs included travel. When we got back to Barcelona the mini bus brought us back to our hotel saving us a 40 minute walk and more than making up for the slightly late start.

All in all it was an excellent day out and I would recommend this LivingIt trip to anyone visiting Barcelona.

Dear Willie D: Thank you for your detailed review. Visiting Montserrat is an inspiring experience and we're happy to share it with travellers in our small-Group tours. We avoid the crowds by arriving early morning to visit the Black Madonna. We include a surprise tasting of local wine and cheese as we love sharing our local traditions. It's actually a lot of fun as drinking from the porron isn't hard but takes some practice. Our guides are always ready to welcome you and make your experience unforgettable. We're looking forward to hosting you again.

Living It tours did a fantastic job for my horseback riding experience. I decided on a private tour since I am an experienced rider who rides at least one time a week with instruction back in the U.S. Being a private tour, Alex my guide, picked me up at my hotel and we were off. Arrived at the stables and after tacking up the horses had a quick turn around the arena to show I did know how to ride and then we were off. It was a beautiful ride with great horses and I loved the opportunities to trot and canter on long stretches of straight aways. After enjoyed a lovely light lunch and then back to Barcelona. I would definitely book again without hesitation on a return trip to Barcelona.

This tour was outstanding! We (4 ladies) had a private tour to see the Human Tower Experience at Vilafranca. What an amazing sight to see! Our guide Pol introduced us to 2 of the castellers, had our picture taken with them & they even give us t-shirts from their group. Watching them build the human tower was truely awesome. We have never seen anything like that. This was a piece of local culture that we will never forget. Pol also took us to a special restaurant where we enjoyed a wonderful meal. After we left Vilafranca, our driver & Pol took us to Montblanc, a beautiful medival town with an interesting legend. If you are looking for a tour that shows you more about the culture & the people, LivingIt is the company to go to. I highly recommend them for an out of the normal experience. Thank you Pol for a fantastic tour. Brenda & the Tennessee gals!

We had heard so much about the human towers, but I really wanted to see them for myself. My stepmother, 10-year-old daughter and I were privileged to have Barbara as a guide who took us to a practice session. Her own son is part of a human towers team, so we got all the inside knowledge of the history and physics! They even walked down the street as a full tower - we were so lucky! Barbara was very sweet with my daughter too - and even let her do some climbing on her ;-)

I really think this is a worthwhile tour for those who want to understand Catalunya and it’s traditions from the inside. Another Barbara who was organising the tour was also very kind and organised. Five stars from this family!

This trip was a nice combination of sightseeing and riding. However if you are an experienced rider be advised it is walking only. The guide and horses are quarter horses very calm and easy to ride.

This was a great experience all around! I'm a study abroad student in Barcelona, and therefore, I have limited access to transportation. I was beyond grateful that Living It sent a driver to take my friend and I to the ranch and back. Joan, our driver, was amazing. He told us about all of the wonderful attractions there are in Barcelona and even suggested a few places I have never heard of! When we got to the ranch, the tour was very complete! We got to brush and saddle the horses, practice riding in an arena, and then, we got to ride on the trails. I was impressed because we had really awful weather for riding (cold and rainy), but our guide, Alex, didn't seem to mind, and he remained enthusiastic about the ride. Afterwards, we were treated to a typical Catalan meal. I only have one word: delicious! I would definitely suggest this tour for horseback riders of any level.

Great experience! Paul, the Living It rep and Alex, our guide, were both very friendly and pleasant. The horses were all lovely and well suited to our different riding levels. Alex proposed two different routes: a city view route or mountain route. We took the mountain route and loved it!! To finish it off, we enjoyed a nice lunch of tortilla, pan con tomate, olives and nectarines. If you are not sure, ask Paul how to drink the wine...there is a special technique :-)
The experience was "as advertised" and thoroughly enjoyable!!

We loved the experience! Our guide explained us everything related with the area, the ranch and the horses. We really enjoyed participainting in the horse preparation: brush our horses and saddle them up.
We were a goup of 4 (2experienced riders and 2 begginers).
The begginers had detailed explanation about the basics, which I think Alex did a very good job.
We were a group of 2 experienced riders, and he addapted the tour also for us. We could trot and galop in the areana.
We had a nice and relaxed riding in the Park. In total we rode 2hours!
Completely nice and worthy experience for begginers and experts.
Thank you LIVING IT.
