My 18-year old son and I joined the Boqueria Market tour and cooked Tapas dishes - we both had a great time. Renata led the market tour where she bought items for our dishes and we did a jamon tasting at one stall.
Then, we went back to the kitchen across the street and we were entertained by Juan, who was a fantastic chef - I'm not bad at cooking but was surprised how many new tricks I learned. Everyone had an active role in preparing the dishes, we drank some wine as we cooked, and enjoyed a great meal together. All the other people there were similarly engaging. Later that night my teenager said,"That was so much fun!".

Not only did I love all the food we made but the class itself. My instructor, Candido, was very engaging and made the class so much fun. I truly feel I learned many skills and the culinary aspect of Spanish culture. I highly recommend taking a class (and even requesting Candido) You will not regret it.

My partner and I had a great time in our Special St. Valentine's cooking session. The chef spoke great English (as well as Spanish) and guided us through the 3 hours session with loads of laughs, snacks and wine. Would recommend this course for every couple, group or even individuals who are looking for fun and learning new cooking skills in the center of Barcelona.

We went to a cooking class with friends and totally enjoyed it and can highly recommend it!
Chef Candido is very knowledgeable and sympatic. We prepared really good typical Spanish food.
The place is clean and hygenic.

The Tapas cooking class started with a tour of the market, where Chef Juan purchased the ingredients for our dinner: Mussels Escabeche, Meat Balls with Cuttlefish, Fingerling Potatoes with spicy sauce and aioli, and Crema Catalan. The class of a dozen people divided into three groups to prep and cook under Chef's guidance. Ingredients, techniques, and methods were discussed in a fun, engaging environment. The meal with wine was shared along with cooking and travel stories. It was a great experience.

We had such a blast learning the traditional Spanish cuisine. Not just paella, we made a 4-course dinner! Candid pour instructor was awesome fun and patient with our group. I highly highly recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona. It was probably the best meal we had!

My husband and I were given a cooking class with Barcelona Cooking as a gift. It’s not something we would have thought to do on our own, and we had such a fantastic time! We went with our ‘teacher’ Kindra on a shopping excursion to La Boqueria market, followed by a cooking lesson. We learned how to make paella, a butternut squash soup, a Spanish omelet and delicious dessert. Of course, we ate everything, along with some Rioja wine, and got some great prep and cooking tips along the way. A really fun time!!

My husband and I travel to Barcelona at least 2 times a year. It is our favorite city.
Everytime we come we try to take a cooking class because we love cooking.
So we pretty much went to 80% of the tourist cooking "schools" in Barcelona.
This was - Barcelona Cooking Classes on Rambla was a total waste of time and money.
Sure, they present you some recipes (we did the tapas class), sure they explain what to do.

But as you know the details make the difference between an enjoyable experience of fun and learning and a terrible one.
Here are the details that made us rate this class as poor:
- the 2 cooks were talking in Spanish among themselves while we were just sitting there waiting for them to say something. This kind of behavior means lack of manner. To talk almost all the time with your other cook friend in Spanish.
- when we were still cooking a cleaning lady came to put the dishes in the dishwasher and do the dishes. I find that rude. The kitchen was small and another person who is creating disturbance and a lot of noise, is just not making the class feel like a good experience.
- when I suggested: can you please talk more with us in English and less in Spanish + can you please not turn on the washing machine while we are eating because it makes noise the answer of the 2 cooks was rude and made me feel like I was bothering them with my suggestions
- the food cooked was so oily. everything was deep fried. As I said, I took Spanish classes before. From the point of view of the recipes, the ones at Barcelona Cooking Class, were the ones that were the most unhealthy.
- there were not enough supplies to go around
- the kitchen looked old and unsanitary

What bothered us the most was the human factor. If you have high standards and expect a good time, do not choose this one.
There are classes way much better and with much nicer people.

Hi Cristina! We are so sorry that your experience was not a positive one at Barcelona Cooking! We love to hear feedback—positive or negative—and our number one goal is to offer wonderful service to our guests. We understand that you were unhappy with how your class turned out, though during the same class we had some very positive feedback from other guests. Surely, having seen the multitude of very positive reviews that we have would have led you to expect more. We are not writing to make excuses, only to apologize for a less-than-satisfactory experience. To those who read this, please know that we take all criticism seriously and see it as a way to continuously improve our business. Thank you!

We were so excited for this cooking class but were so horribly disappointed. We chose this cooking school specifically because their website highlights that they can adapt menus to suit vegetarians and we double checked that an alternative would be available both upon booking and arriving. Unfortunately when it came time to cook, that never happened. The dishes to be prepared were gaspacho, patatas bravas, some bread thing, and the highlight: meatballs in a squid sauce. When I asked what the vegetarian alternative to the meatball was, the chef said I would just have the squid sauce.

We only lasted 40 minutes before leaving since I was not going to be provided an option, but in that time, we never got to touch any of the utensils or food. It was not interactive or engaging- it felt like a long lecture. Questions were responded to dismissively and curtly. It was just really underwhelming and not at all like other cooking classes that I've been to.

The market tour was passable but the guide was hard to hear and didn't have any of the energy or excitement one would expect of a chef showing off the market he shops from. I figured we would get more insight or secrets about the workings of the market.

We took the cooking class without the boqueria, as we've been to many markets all over the world. As soon as we arrived, we got to work. The chef sent each of us to a station and then proceeded to talk about the preparation of each course, showing us what to do (cutting vegetables, cleaning the seafood) and explaining to the whole group, then setting us off. When the preparation was ready and everything was cooking, we opened some wine and got to chat a bit with the group members. In the end, the food was delicious.

However, I was disappointed with the fact that the only thing I did was to grate some tomatoes and cut some vegetables. With 9 of us in the class, there really wasn't much for each person to do. Unfortunately, some of the additional tasks (flipping the Spanish tortilla, torching the desserts, making tomato bread) were doled out to the same people, leaving some of us with basically nothing to do. The class would be far better with a small group of 4 people. The chef was nice, but not overly friendly. He didn't spend any time asking about where we were from, who we were, what our food interests were, etc. The "down time" was spent on his cell phone. He'd answer questions with good information, but I really think you need a friendlier outgoing personality to make these classes a bit more dynamic. For these reasons, I would rate the experience poor to average.
