- David PWashington DC, District of Columbia94 contributionsGreat beach!Great beach! Can be crowded at times during high season. Like any touristy beach, there are a lot of beach vendors selling food, drinks, etc. I personally love it, but I did witness some beachgoers who were getting agitated with the constant interruptions.Written January 26, 2023
- B1714DBelgrade, Serbia15,687 contributionsAverage beach and picturesque but not that safe neighborhoodIf for sunbathing I'd never stay around here, as 100 kms north and south from Barcelona (1 hour drive) are great beach resorts. Barceloneta beach serves mostly for the locals to cool down. Also, the beach is not clean and well arranged with very few toilets. Watch your belongings as many sketchy and suspicious people hang around. The neighborhood behind the beach is picturesque with some great (and cheap) restaurants, but again with security issues, specially at night. 10 y ago I was brutally robbed in front of my 6 y daughter then by tearing off my golden neckless from my neck and he disappeared within a second in a side street. This year we only walked the promenade for a while with nothing in our hands.Written September 11, 2022
- AR-BRAYLittle Rock, Arkansas512 contributionsGoodDecent beach. Chair rental stops at5. Not the cleanest but also not filthy. Best for sun bathing as the water is not super clear and is chilly but a quick dip too cool down is good. There are bathrooms and restaurants close by. There is an outdoor gym hers that is fun to watch people pump up!Written June 29, 2022

The most beautiful area in my humble opinion. Next to the sea, with wonderful paths to walk, stores and hotels. Also, if you visit at night time, it has buzzing nightlife!

This is one of the four historical districts that form the old part of the capital of Catalonia. The quarter is located on alluvial lands, as if protecting the port from the east. Until the 18th century fishermen and sailors lived here. Then the territory came under the control of the military, who built it up with low buildings with similar facades.

Visit Duration: You can spend a full day sunbathing and swming in Summer and spend the whole night partying.
The Barceloneta, once home of fishermen, is now one of the city's most visited and popular.
Today, it is one of the most active areas of the city, known for its first-class sandy beach and its many restaurants and nightclubs along the boardwalk.

Little Barcelona??. You should consider to change this description cause no one in Barcelona knows what little Barcelona is. Barceloneta was built after invader troops of Spanish Crown Felipe V helped by French troops ordered to destroy the Old Ribera neighbourhood to build up a new Citadelle (fortress) the unique fortress built in Europe not to defend a city from invaders but to submit population and Barcelona citizens under control with a permanent number of soldiers after Barcelona surrenders on September 11, 1714. This was a requirement of conquerors military engineers as they wanted direct visibility from citadelle and Barcelona to point the city with their batteries in case they have to open fire against Barcelona rebels.

This is a large and historical area near the beach in Barcelona and you can skip the beach and walk the streets with the old buildings and many tapas bars and restaurants. Well worth a visit and not a usual place for tourists.

It's near the water and there are lots of boats nearby. It's beautiful at sunset. You can take a little walk on the boardwalk and to the beach if you have little more time.

Old school fishing community. Lovely locals. Go a couple of blocks off the main drag and find yourself a 'scruffy' bar/restaurant and you'll probably have the tastiest seafood at a sensible price in you life.

This is actually called Barceloneta on the signs and maps of the area.
We walked here from Ciutedella Parque on a very hot and sunny Sunday, about a 20 minute walk. The beach was clean and appealing. We also enjoyed the sand castles and buskers playing music. Many places to grab a bite to eat or get a cold drink. The stalls along the water offered an array of food and souvenirs.
Tip: Be sure to barter when buying souvenirs. We saved an average of 15 to 20% off the posted prices.
Tip: Take sunscreen (fotoprotector) as the sun is strong, especially when reflecting off the water.

It's my 3rd & last time visiting this city. I would advise everyone to be careful because the number of thefts is increasing dramatically, I parked my car in la Rambla for 5 minutes to go upstairs and check my Airbnb apartment, and when I came back the glass was broken and they stole everything. Passports, watches, laptops, 4 big bags and when I called the police they said this is normal in Barcelona we can't come to you because we are busy with other stabbing cases and we don't have enough police cars, you come to the station for the police report and that's it & we can't take the fingerprints because it's not a murder you only lost a couple of thousands of euros. Why I'm advising everyone to be careful because when I returned my car to the rental company they said that I'm the 6th car being returned from Barcelona with a broken window and when I visited the station I saw more than a group of tourists complaining of thefts in Barcelona. Thanks all and stay safe

Saludos
