This is a lovely place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, although I was there very early in the morning towards the end of April, so this may have been the reason it wasn’t busy. In the middle of the afternoon in July, it may be a different story. A few things were closed - the Castle of the Three Dragons was closed for renovations, which was disappointing - so I just had a walk around the park. It really was very beautiful. My favourite part was the lake, which had ducks on it, including baby ducks, and an area with benches next to it where there were a load of birds - pigeons and lovely green coloured birds. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, especially La Rambla, I’d recommend coming here for some time out.

Beautiful park to walk around. Take a picnic and relax on the grass. You can hire a little rowing boat for 9Euros (for 3people) for 30minutes - I would highly recommend this! It’s next door to the zoo and also has play areas for children.

After seeing the Arch and walking down the pedestrian avenue, the park is a must with its massive green space, and paths to walk along, it is hard not to enjoy it. The highlights for us, is the Monumental fountain, that Guadi, had a hand in, the artificial lake where the visitor can rent a boat and our personal fave, the mammoth, statue, built in the early 1900's. The park is the green lungs of Barcelona.

The park is a little off the main thoroughfare and if you only have a couple of days in Barcelona, you probably won’t have time to go here. However if you have a few extra days, I’d highly recommend it.
Entry is free and its open from 10am until late.
The park grounds are extensive, covering 70 acres. There are sculptures, a lake, museums, a monumental fountain and a zoo.
The 2 best things we did here were:
1. Hire a row boat on the lake. This was a whim and was great fun
2. The Cascada Monumental fountain. This is no ordinary fountain. It has a tiered cascading waterfall, a triumphal arch, fountains, winged dragons and a central Botticelli-like Venus sculpture. At the very top are 4 golden horses pulling Aurora, the Roman goddess in a chariot. I particularly liked it because can climb to the top of it. Staircases on either side of the triumphal arch allow you to walk up one side and down the other. In the middle, there is a pavilion level where you can stand directly above the waterfall and look straight down over the cascade and across the park.
The paths are wide and flat so it’s very pram/pushchair friendly. It’s an ideal spot to go for a break and stretch your legs, have a picnic or let kids run free for a while. You can also rent bikes.
TIPS:
• Entry to the park is free
• There are kiosks and toilets
• Row-boats are €6 for 2 people for 30 minutes (up to €10 for 5 people)
• If you enter the park from the Passeig de Lluís Companys, you will walk through Barcelona’s own version of the Arc de Triomphe.
Entry is free and its open from 10am until late.

The park was opened in the middle of the 19th century and for several decades remained the only green area in the city. In 1888, Citadel Park was chosen to host the first World's Fair. The park has been substantially reorganized for the exhibition, laid out in the English style by Josep Fontser and embellished with many beautiful pavilions.

We love this park it’s really big and as it’s a bit out of the main part of the city it seem to be more used by local Spanish than tourists. You could spend a whole day there there’s a couple of lakes one of them you can rent boats another one with beautiful Fountains you can ride your bikes around there there’s lots of grassy Park areas as well it just has a really nice vibe to the place. We actually walked through this to cut down to the Marina area. I was so nice we came back and spent some time there. If you have some time during your trip to Barcelona I 100% recommend this park it’s really nice.

Took a walk with my family to the park and amazed at the gorgeous fountain. It is quite a long walk from Las Ramblas where we stayed , and the fountain is even further in the entrance where we thought it would be.
Dont even think of not taking a picture of the fountain. It's a bit of a high climb to the top of the fountain but the outcome is beautiful, Do not miss the sunset view from the top of the fountain and immerse yourself in the detailed architecture of the facade while you're up there.
.
I wasnt aware of the existence of pickpockets there, but luckily there were no sour experience.
The environment while we were there was so homely, with kids and dogs chasing bubbles, and there was a newly wed couple having a photoshoot just by the fountain. It felt like we were in a spanish movie LOL.

I decided to take a stroll through Ciutadella Parc on one of the warmest November days. It was quite busy with people in small group's sitting on the grassy areas. The park is quite big and spacious with something interesting to see with every turn; it felt like walking through a maze and each turn had a pleasant surprise like a lake or fountain.
It is only a short 5 minutes walk from Arc de Triomf with multiple entrances to the park. Although it was busy with lots of people, there were still a large amount of greenery and unoccupied benches so it did not feel crowded at all.

Parc de la Ciutadella or Ciutadella Park sits close to the Mediterranean Sea coast of Barcelona, northeast of the tourist meccas of the Gothic Quarter, and the Rambla. It was created in the middle of the 1800’s and was for a while the city’s only green space. Now it serves as a bit of an oasis for locals and visitors alike.
There is plenty to see and do within the park’s boundaries. The Barcelona Zoo and the Museum of Natural Sciences of Barcelona are both located here. Among the beautiful ancient buildings are the Parliament of Catalan building built in the 18th Century, the Jardins Fontsere I Mestre a massive greenhouse, and the Castle of Three Dragons built as an exhibition space for the 1888 World's Fair.
Also worth a visit are the lake in the middle of the park and the magnificent Cascada Parc de la Ciutadella a massive two-tier waterfall and fountain that is worth a visit to the area on its own. photographed. Near this is a small snack bar that serves a surprisingly good cappuccino. Don’t miss the statue of the mammoth on a small path behind the snack bar leading to the lake.
Also in this area is a bandstand named the Glorieta del la Transexual Sonia, named in honor of Sonia Rescalvo Zafra a trans woman killed in the park in 1991.
Getting to the park is easy. It is a short walk from the Gothic Quarter, the beachfront neighbourhood of Barceloneta and most other areas of Central Barcelona. There are also two Metro or subway stations located on the edge of the park, Arc de Triomf to the northwest and Ciutadella Villa Olimpica on the northeast edge.

We saw a lot of people in groups on the grass. One was an open air gymnastics class.
Perhaps speak to the Town Hall or Mayors office. Failing that the police?

Potresti fare un bel pic-nic ... un paio d'ore ci vogliono. Se poi vuoi visitare lo zoo ... certo ci vuole più tempo.
