- Ruth JLondon, United Kingdom175 contributionsTaste of life in BarcelonaGreat city park used by tourists and locals of all ages. We could have spent hours watching how local people use the green space for playing guitars, saxophone, practise tight rope walking, sing and so much more. Entertainers around the beautiful fountain were encouraging children to burst huge bubbles while their parents sat in the cafe area. All that and there's still the zoo and museums to visit! A must to visit.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 26, 2023
- LindynineKingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom111 contributionsRelaxing parkWonderful relaxing park to walk or sit. We watched many locals and tourists all enjoying the park some socialising, reading, children playing and many excellent musicians which were very entertaining. The water features were not working due to the water shortages which was a shame. A must if you want to take some quiet time away from the hustle of the city.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 5, 2023
- SteviefullKidderminster, United Kingdom2,066 contributionsPlenty Going OnSome more relaxing surroundings away from the busy city, don't get me wrong it's still busy here but at least you have a little bit of nature to chill you out a bit. The centre piece of the parc is definitely the fountain which takes on an even more appealing appearance on a hot summer day. In addition to the fountain you have a Zoo, the Catalan Parliament containing the Art Museum and the Geological Museum. Occasionally you'll have some music on the band stand and see people dancing. If you wanted to you could easily spend a few hours here. Definitely worth a visit whether its to chill out on the grass and read a book all morning or just take 10 minutes to photograph the fountain.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 31, 2024

- Family5GetAwaySt. John's, Canada323 contributionsNice park with lots to see.A nice park to stroll around in, with lots of different paths to take and things to see. We entered on the Arc de Triomf side and walked down to the zoo. It was very crowded on a sunny Sunday afternoon, full of locals and tourists alike. A lot of the area around the parliament building and gardens was fenced off which was unfortunate, but we did get to visit the newly reopened greenhouses (free of charge). You can rent rowboats on a little pond and there are lots of little green parrots flying around which was nice to see. The highlight of the park for me was the large water feature/monument (La Cascada). It was significantly bigger than I thought and just stunning. The emergency measures caused by the ongoing drought meant the fountains were not operating, but it was still amazing to behold.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 2, 2024
- wondereyesBucharest, Romania2,592 contributionsNice walkLovely park. The entrance is great and the monument is beautiful. We saw also some elderly persons dancing. What was a nice surprise was at the back of the park, after you pass the second lake with boats and you go for the parliament. Well, be prepared and take some seeds with you as you will find the green parrots. And they can come to pick from your hand.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 19, 2024

This wasn’t a must see on our list and honestly we only went there because we were in the area and at that point couldn’t even remember what it was but we really enjoyed it. It is a massive, towering monument/water fountain with life-size sculptures of horses and people. Beautiful and epic. Not too crowded and the space is pretty and wide open. I still wouldn’t call this an absolute must see but there are so many things in the area (arc de triomf, etc.) that it would be crazy to skip it. Honestly, to compare it to something more famous like the Trevi Fountain in Rome, this is much grander, much less packed, and much more worth your time. So maybe it should be a must see.

I decided to take a stroll through Ciutadella Parc on one of the warmest November days. It was quite busy with people in small group's sitting on the grassy areas. The park is quite big and spacious with something interesting to see with every turn; it felt like walking through a maze and each turn had a pleasant surprise like a lake or fountain.
It is only a short 5 minutes walk from Arc de Triomf with multiple entrances to the park. Although it was busy with lots of people, there were still a large amount of greenery and unoccupied benches so it did not feel crowded at all.

This is a lovely place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, although I was there very early in the morning towards the end of April, so this may have been the reason it wasn’t busy. In the middle of the afternoon in July, it may be a different story. A few things were closed - the Castle of the Three Dragons was closed for renovations, which was disappointing - so I just had a walk around the park. It really was very beautiful. My favourite part was the lake, which had ducks on it, including baby ducks, and an area with benches next to it where there were a load of birds - pigeons and lovely green coloured birds. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, especially La Rambla, I’d recommend coming here for some time out.

We took Metro Line 2 from our hotel to the Tutuan stop and walked to the Arc de Triomf, built as the main access gate for the 1888 Barcelona World’s Fair, and on to Ciutadella Park, where we passed by the Castle of the Three Dragons, an example of early Modernism designed by architect Lluis Domènech i Montaner and home to the Barcelona Zoological Museum. The highlight of the park was the beautiful Font de la Cascada, a double waterfall and small lake with four dragon sculptures and a sculpture of Diana on a clamshell that is part of a monument topped with a golden chariot drawn by four horses. It was designed by Josep Fontsére with the help of a young architecture student, Antoni Gaudí.Walking through the park was pleasant and relaxing.

Another stop on our bike tour of Barcelona bought us from the Arc de Triomf to this park and in particular the excellent water feature which is impressive in both size and appearence and I'm surprised more isn't made of it.
The bike tour stopped here for a few minutes and even in this little area on top of the fountain there was a large representation of a mammoth where there was recently found some bones and fossils, as well as a band stand with music where people were happily dancing, all this on a mid february day.
I would imagine during the summer it would be a great place to kick back and relax, but with plenty to do if that took your fancy.
Definitely take a stroll here if you fancy a little bit of time away from the city side of Barcelona.

Beautiful park to walk around. Take a picnic and relax on the grass. You can hire a little rowing boat for 9Euros (for 3people) for 30minutes - I would highly recommend this! It’s next door to the zoo and also has play areas for children.

Wonderful park that is free to vistitors and only 10 minutes walk from the Gothic Quarter. The 31 hectares include the city zoo (worth a visit), the Palau del Parlament de Catalunya, a small lake, museums, and a large fountain designed by Josep Fontserè (and it's said contributions by a young Antoni Gaudí).
There are large paths used by walkers and cyclists. There are water fountains to refil a bottle/drink from and plenty of areas to sit. There was also a guy selling samosas (very good and very cheap - to use his words) and a kiosk selling drinks and snacks too.
If you want somewhere free and chilled out to people watch - Parc de la Ciutadella is the one for you.

The Parc de la Ciutadella is a great place for relaxing and sight-seeing... From the Arc de Triomf at one end to the Zoo at the other, there's lots to see and do, or not do anything but sit in the shade and listen to the parrots squawking overhead. On the Sunday I visited there were exercise groups and even a seniors dance group in the rotunda next to the lake. Favourite spots for me were the Cascada del Parc de la Ciutadella, and the very photogenic life-sized (concrete) woolly Mammoth!
