One of the most emblematic buildings of the Catalan Gothic. An outstanding church built in the XIVth century with a purity and unity of style that is very unusual in large medieval buildings. You can visit the church during the worship time or enjoy its the beauty and its secrets along the cultural time, when you are almost alone with the building and discover its secrets.

Went through as part of a Shadow of the Wind tour. Very cool place with a unique history. We really enjoyed it and it is very different from the main cathedral and the Segrada Familia.

Built by popular subscription (in money or in work hours) by the citizens of this quarter, mostly workers at the port, this is truly "la Catedral del Mar" (the cathedral of the sea). This is how we catalans do things, by ourselves, self organized, not...More

Came across this beautiful church when heading from Citadella Park towards La Ramblas with the Missus. Outside it doesn't look that remarkable...but inside was simply stunning. I'm not at all religious, but I do appreciate architecture and art, and this was a sight to behold...More

Not the "wow" of Sagrada Familia but a beautiful church in the Born that is well worth the trip. Not nearly the crowds of tourists that haunt the Gaudí buildings. You don't need tickets. You can respectfully walk through and feel the grace.

We were lucky enough to go into the basilica, while a wedding was happening - it was lovely! The building was very impressive (as you would expect from a grand basilica). A nice wander round to admire the stature and detail. I would recommend it.

Don't need to be religious or an historian to get a sense of awe and spirituality sitting in this amazing church.

A very very special place - we found it purely by chance while ambling in the Gothic Quarter and decided to go in as there were no queues and the entrance fee was minimal. One of the best discoveries of our holiday; the architecture and...More

I attended Mass here on a Saturday evening. Absolutely beautiful cathedral with columns that seem to float. Great location, easy to find.

Beautiful old church, located in the older parts of Barcelona. To find about its history read 'La Catedral del Mar' by Ildefonso Falcones, there must be an english translation of this excellent novel. Not far away there is an excellent restaurant called Dos Puertas.

The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent
the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But
this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually

places that live and breathe such exciting energy
regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood
seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the
city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants

I went in July and there was no charge to go inside the church. It was €3 to go to the roof, but it was definitely worth it!

if you are having difficulty getting an answer from the church perhaps you could contact the diocese?
