About
CosmoCaixa offers its visitors a whole host of activities and permanent and temporary exhibitions to give anyone who is interested a greater insight into the world of science. The museum’s most distinctive attractions include the new permanent exhibition “The Universe Gallery” where visitors can learn about the cosmos and its evolution from the big bang to the present day. An interactive experience beginning with the creation of the cosmos and going on to explore the evolution of the species and the innermost workings of the human brain. The "Flooded Forest” recreates the ecosystem of the Amazon inside a glass house covering an area of 1,000 m2, which is home to piranhas, crocodiles and other animal and plant species typical of the area, and the “Geological Wall” consists of seven vast sections of genuine rock that allow us to interpret the world’s geology.

Criminally underrated, great for kids and adults!
I feel this place is criminally underrated. I visited in the afternoon of a weekday and it was relatively quiet. My friend and myself went not knowing what to expect and ended up spending the better most of 3 hours here! Very fun, very interactive, great appeal for kids as well as grownups. Everything is wrote in many languages for tourists to enjoy. Currently looks like they are working on a dinosaur display. The flooded forest section was a particular favourite part. I'd highly suggest this to anyone remotely interested in any form of science, although my friend who isn't so interested in it thoroughly enjoyed herself and how interactive everything is. Great for kids and adults! Unfortunately didn't have time to book the planetarium but it needs to be booked in advance (can be done when buying entry tickets or online) - definitely looked worth it!

A place for curious people of all ages
Note that about 90% of the exhibits are on the bottom floor so make sure to take your time there and not rush to other floors. We spent 2:30h and I feel like we got to interact with most of the exhibits. Some parts of the museum to be reserved for school activities only. Great place for learning but also just admiring the exhibits. Although I study a scientific subject in uni I still had a lot of fun and managed to discover at least one new fact. The exhibits shine through their interactive nature. The little habitat including trees , fish and birds was gorgeous. Great place for people of all ages who have a curious nature.

A must go to for kids and adults alike.
This place is amazing! A huge building with umpteen exhibits to suit all ages. The museum has a dinosaur section with some fantastic skeletons, a wildlife area recreating a rainforest with fish/birds/reptiles/mammals and flora. Other areas include the evolution of man, how the human brain and body works and tens of interactive displays from Newton's cradles to sound waves to how volcanoes form. We didn't go in the planetarium as didn't realise it was extra €6 each. The cafe was reasonably priced. The only negative was the half hour queue to pay and the walk up the steep hill to get there (there is a tram/bus though). We spent about 4 hours there and still didn't see it all.

10/10 highly recommend even for adults
It was really fascinating experience for us both me and my husband. We visited on March 25 at about 16:00 and spent about 10 minutes in line. 6 euro per person only, I would have paid even more. There are fish, plants, an aquarium, animals, dinosaur skeletons, and interactive stands explaining the laws of physics. We spent about three hours at the exhibition. There is also a cafe for snacks, clean toilets, and free lockers for coats or bags.

    Brilliant day out!
Visited as a family of 4 with our two children. Had a great time. The exhibits were interactive and interesting, and the kids really enjoyed it, especially the dinosaur bones and the interactive exhibits. Something for everyone there, and the food was reasonably priced and quite tasty at lunch time in the square.

    Amazing
What an amazing science museum this is. So much to see and do with so many interactive displays. It's not just boards of text (though there are information boards explaining the display) but instead it's more like you're doing experiments so that you can understand what it's trying to show. The flooded rainforest in particular is simply amazing. The best museum we've been to and the highlight of our trip to Barcelona

We visited during the Easter holiday on a wet day, so it was very busy trying to get in, we would have been better to book online in advance. However once we got inside the museum it did not feel too crowded, our boys are 12 and 14 and both study science, there was so much for them to do and learn. Lots of younger children who could also enjoy all the interactive science without having to try and understand it all. Highly recomend for a wet day activity.

The ticket price fully corresponds to the quality and content of the exhibition. I really liked the museum building, huge floor-to-ceiling windows with beautiful panoramas of the city, a good cafe, and an excellent souvenir shop. Difiently recommended, especially if you're traveling with children.

My 5 and 8 year olds loved this place and enjoyed several hours of interacting with the exhibits. We walked comfortably from Vallcarca metro station - it was uphill and took about 15 minutes. The building was fun to explore. From the ground level entry tickets are available on the level above and cost €6 each adult. Kids are free. From the ticket desk descend the ramp to level -5 where there are plenty of interactive displays and the entry to the rainforest area. It was super cool and kept the kids busy for a few hours.

CosmoCaixa Barcelona is a science museum.
It has permanent exhibitions, "the Universe room" where we can discover the cosmos and its evolution from the big-bang to the present. The "Flooded Forest" recreates an Amazonian ecosystem with piranhas, crocodiles and other animal and plant species, the "geological wall", the Planetarium, etc.
Interactive museum, highly recommended for children and young people and not so young

Entry is free if you have the Barcelona Card, but it's worth paying to visit. The temporary exhibit was on Nikola Tesla and his inventions, and almost every single display was interactive. You could press buttons to turn on Tesla's inventions, watch a massive Tesla coil make huge sparks of electricity, and play around with machines that were never finished. There was a recreation of one of the Antarctic research facilities, tonnes of fossils and skeletons of our ancestor hominids, and an enormous flooded rainforest that houses loads of fish and reptiles. It completely blew the Natural Science Museum out of the water and was the highlight of my day

The museum is located in a very up-scale neighborhood up the side of the mountains overlooking the city. The metro stop is located a “7 minute” walk from the museum—if you are young and very healthy or a mountain goat who has access to a good GPS or Satnav system. The number 15 bus stops right in front of the museum.
During our visit there were many school groups present ranging in age from primary school through secondary school. Some were very well behaved and engaged with the exhibits while others (junior and senior high school students primarily) were acting like typical teen agers who were more interested in impressing their classmates and being “cool” than in anything they might have learned.
The exhibits were extremely well thought out and organized. Explanations were provided in four languages at a level that was generally informative and that did not “talk down” to more well informed visitors. Exhibits included material on physics, evolution (plant, animal, geological and human) and astronomy. Food was available at reasonable prices. Restrooms were spotless. We did not have to wait at the entrance or to buy tickets. I recommend the museum to anyone with an enquiring mind.

We visited the museum to experience the rain forest thinking we would spend 30 minutes walking around. We eventually left the museum 4 hours after arriving. All of the exhibits are worth visiting. The impart their scientific message in a full filled manner with many interactive exhibitions.

Lots of hands on activities. Family visit with young children, all exhibits in Spanish, French and English - lots to see and do, easily a 1/2 day or longer.

In the evening there are various shows in different languages which need to be booked (and are extra)

I took tickets on the museum website cost 8 euros adults and children under 16 years do not pay.
Connected very well with any public transport (we have metro L4 and bus V15).
Full of well explained and easily understandable experiment stations (captions in Catalan, Spanish, English). The planetarium is charged. Beautiful forest immersed.
It is interactive
Inside the structure there is a small shop, a cafeteria and a self-service restaurant (adult cost 17,50, 09.50 child under 14 years), also included in the price a drink and a dessert. The dishes aren't great. There are outdoor picnic areas. Stay to be considered at least a couple of hours

Cosmo Caxia has a lot of scientific exhibits ranging from space, biology, evolution and basic sciences. There are shows conducted as well, but most of them are scheduled at 7 PM. The entry fee is nominal (6 Euros for adults; Kids up to age 17 are free). I felt that this museum is not a must-do. We visited since it was quite close to Tibidabo.
