The area
Address
Neighborhood: Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.

    Rude staff!
Visited here for food. The food was ok for the price but the service was terrible. The Waiter was so rude and obnoxious he actually spoiled it for us. We actually went to see the Manager. Nice location. Alright food. Terrible staff

    Pricey but nice
This place is right on the beach and quite pricey but the location and food were tasty. I am gluten free and they were able to tell me I could have the prawns and not the potatas bravas (no separate frier) I probably won’t go back but if your not gluten free worth a try if you can afford it. Sangria was nice but 45 euros for 1 1/2 litre jug!!!

Legal Robbery - DO NOT GO HERE
Absolute Ripoff, don’t even bother. Entry fees are stupidly high for what is one room of mediocre music and then to add insult to injury you can either buy a drink or buy a house, same cost either way. €34 for 2 SINGLE vodka red bulls is beyond a joke, it’s legal robbery. Much better off going next door to Shoko where everything is cheaper for the same experience or, if you want a genuinely good experience, go to Razzmatazz.

    An expensive snack
This is a lovely restaurant come night club great location but be aware you must have deep pockets. It's not for a casual meal, it is selling an image for those who can afford it. I had a steak which was tiny and had a couple of tomatoes and a few potatoes , nice but not enough for the price 32 euros.

Lively Start to the Night at Opium
Opium nightclub, located on the beachfront in Barcelona, provided us with a lively start to our nights out. Situated amidst other bars and clubs, it served as a convenient starting point if you're willing to pay the entry fee, which includes a complimentary drink. The club itself is decent, but it does have some drawbacks. The music tends to be generic, lacking in originality, and the sound system falls short compared to other clubs in Barcelona. However, despite these limitations, Opium manages to draw a crowd every night, making it a bustling and energetic venue. While Opium may not be our top recommendation for the entire night, it does serve as a vibrant spot to kickstart your evening. We suggest exploring other venues as the night progresses to fully immerse yourself in Barcelona's dynamic nightlife scene. Overall, Opium nightclub offers a lively atmosphere and serves as a popular meeting point for partygoers. However, keep in mind that the music and sound system may not meet the highest standards found elsewhere in the city.

    We definitely won't be returning
Incredibly unfriendly and demeaning staff at the entrance, especially the lady at the door who forced us to vote for their own club as the best club. If you have to resort to such tactics to get votes, you're really going down a sad path. Is this how you greet your guests at the beginning of the evening? The drink prices are outrageously high. However, I must compliment the attentive security personnel in the club. We definitely won't be returning.

Never again. Don't waste your time here. It is awful. Staff is so disrespectful, unprofessional, rude and disgusting. You have to WAIT like an idiot outside to get in line and people that are behind you but are willing to spend big amount of money are allowed to get first, and ridiculously idiotic stuff will bring them in while pushing you aside like you are second-class citizents. They have awful approach, thew were literally ignorant to me and my friend and when we actually get in line and asked about limit to get in they told us 50 euros is the price - it was 23:30 and they were working to 00:30. Literally a nonsense. Same goes for Schoko and Pacha.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I have never in my life experienced something as awful as Opium. I paid 38 euros for a ticket on the Opium Website only to stand in a “line” for 1 hour that was equivalent to what I would image the Astroworld concert was. There were many times where I had difficulty breathing due to hundreds upon hundreds of people being smushed together in an extremely small space. When I got to the front of the crowd by the door, a bouncer physically shoved me as hard as he could into the crowd while the entire crowd shoved me forward. I watched countless people fall to the ground only to be trampled on by the hundreds of people. I also watched people get trapped under fences and one of my friends broke her foot. The employees inside were laughing and filming the crowd. It was the worst experience of my life. Do not go to Opium.

This club is horribly managed, unorganized, and unsafe.

When arriving to Opium on March 3rd, they had what appeared to be three “lines”, which were actually giant mosh pits of people waiting to get in. There was absolutely no crowd control at all, although the club had sold tickets online before and knew how many people were planning to attend. On top of that, they continued to sell tickets to people who did not purchase tickets prior although there were hundreds of people with tickets waiting to get in.

While waiting in “line”, people were pushed, shoved, and trampled over. There were barricades blocking people in and falling on people’s legs and crushing their feet. There was absolutely no staff helping and no way for anyone to get out. Instead, Opium staff escalated the situation by aggressively shoving girls waiting at the front of the line backwards, which only sent a domino effect of people falling into one another and being crushed.

I have never in my life seen such a horribly unorganized event, staff, and club. They knew how many tickets they sold online prior to the evening of the event and there is no excuse for such terrible management and crowd control.

If you don’t want to be trampled by bodies, crushed between barricades, and shoved by bouncers—don’t go to Opium.

First time I went to opium 10 years ago and I had very good time so I decided to go there one more time. It was my second and last time. Food wasn't bad, but neither good. Service and bodyguards are terrible. No respect for people. In my opinion they are trying to take as much money from tourists as possible ( Table outside is 1000 euro). We have spent about 500 euro ( we were 3) and they throw us away after eating without asking or talking to us. Bodyguard showed us just an exit.

I assume others have reviewed Opium well, so I’ll just share my experience/tips. Solid music, mix of American and Spanish hits. Drinks are expensive so try not to show up thirsty. There is a dress code, but just don’t wear sneakers and sweatpants. No need to bring your passport/ID. Don’t go without knowing there’s a promoter otherwise you’ll have to pay cover! Only one dance floor, where as Razzmutazz has two floors. On the beach, which is cool. Just must be safe after you leave, as inside & directly outside will be a pickpocket magnet. Worth checking out, I’d also give other venues a look as well. Gets busy around 2am.

Staff was very disrespectful and tried to play tricks to get more money off us. Bouncers were very agressive and were inappropriately touching members of our party. More specifically, the very tall bouncer (around 6’10”) was pretty much picking kids out of the crowd and hitting them. Very concerning…

this is exactly what you would expect from a tourist nightclub. it's expensive and crowded. our entrance was 20 euros (on a Saturday night) and it included one free drink. we were not dressed up very much and had no problems getting in. the music was great and the dancers are so talented. I wouldn't recommend getting drinks here since they are very expensive, but the atmosphere is good

A big popular club in Barcelona. Lots of space for dancing and for sitting. Big outside patio that runs along the beach. The security was great. You have to pay a cover of either 10 or 20 euros but your cover includes one drink. The drinks are very expensive, so expensive I think i was getting ripped off but not sure. My vodka red-bull was 18 euros with house vodka. The music was really good.
