My husband proposed to me here so it will hold a special place in my heart. This is a must see sightseeing spot. So many views, beautiful views. We caught the bus easily to this venue and got the cable cart to the top of the castle. If you like walking you are able to walk to the top, it... More

If the tourbus hadn't brought us here, I would think it would have been a waste of time for a view of Barcelona. Took us around to see the Olympic stadium and swimming pools. Vendors and food kiosk available but no toilet.

Taking the Montjuic funicular was a nice experience. A must see on your trip to Barcelona. The ride was not that long but you get a good view of Barcelona.

Should have left more time to visit this part of Barcelona! But enjoyed the cable car and the views. Easy to walk back down to the city.

They have a beautiful view of the city up here, the museums are also very nice, the national museum of Catalan has a Picasso and a couple of Gaudi art works, you just need to spot them.

We didn't venture into the castle at the top of the hill because it was just closing, but just to the cable car! The trip to the top is spectacular and once up there, the views over Barcelona and the port are amazing. You get a completely different perspective of the city from above.

Don't miss the cable car ride up to Castell Montjuic! it was very hot (so bring water, hat and sunglasses) but the views are breathtaking and lots of photo opportunity! We spent hours there, lots of history to the place. You have to pay to go in the Castle but children go in free. Highly Recommended for all ages. There... More

You should definitely visit it! I think it is a must-see, mostly because of the breathtaking view of the city, but also because it is free (or cheap, I cannot remember whether we paid an entrance fee, but if we did, it was really cheap). Unless you choose to go there by the cable car, which in my opinion is... More

This is a very old castle with an amazing view over the whole city and the ocean too. The castle itself has lots of interesting history too. Even though the Teleferic gondola looks cool, do not ride it. It costs around 15 euros for an adult, and it just takes you to the bottom of the mountain.

We called here for a brief photo stop whilst on a tour of the city. There are excellent views to be had both over the city itself, and out towards the Mediterranean Sea across the port.

Staying in Montjuic

Neighborhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colorful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
