The cable car ride was great. Could see the lovely views from up there. When we arrived there, it was so scenic and worth the trip.

By I would choose the full day trip that also goes to the Cava winery. The Cathedral is beautiful and take the cable car up to the top of the mountain and have a picnic with wine and cheese purchased in the village.

Not very common day trip from Barcelona but indeed very interesting. Admire the serrated-knife shape of the mountains and do a 1 or 2 hr. walk from the monastery.

To meditate on the significance and devotion of the courageous monks to build this monastery within the crags of the mountain. What a unique mountain, panorama view, and to ponder how they endured traveling to such treacherous heights with needed supplies. Besides the Black Madonna (Virgin of Montserrat), the Basilica is beautiful and awe-inspiring. Leave yourself time to walk the... More

A trip to Montserrat can take as much time as you'd like to spend. There's the monastery, the museum, the hiking, the shopping, the food, the views, and more. Unfortunately our mid afternoon excursion didn't allow enough time to cover all the things that we could have done but it was still worth it. The main hurdle to this trip... More

Tips: I wish i had done this earlier in my week in Barcelona so that I would be fresh and up for all the potential hiking trips. i will try to include hike descriptions from the brochure, but there are 3 (90 min to 2 hours each). They are to various points or other chapels on the mountain. Always check... More

taking the train up the mountain to see the black Madonna in Montserrat was a unique thrill. I didn't know what to expect however it was beautiful, spiritual, and historical. The boys choir sang like angels and the history was told by the mountains, buildings and the artifacts inside the church. I loved every part of it. When we came... More

We just returned from Spain a few days ago and did the full day tour to Monserrat and Cordoniu Cava Tour and it was wonderful. Joseph our tour guide was GREAT. It was one of the many highlights of our trip, just breathtaking and I've never seen anything like it despite travels to Italy, France, Canada, Austria, Costa Rica, and... More
