Came here with friends and had a private tour. This is about an hour south of the city but a very important place in the history of Catalonia. The architecture is ancient and beautifully done. And this is an important religious pilgrimage spot.

Early access EXCLUSIVE tours don't live up to their name. On arrival there was a group already INSIDE. In saying that the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey was beautiful. It's best known for enshrining the Black Virgin and the famous Boys Choir. A MUST see if your in Barcelona.

My husband and I took a day to visit this beautiful, history monastery in the mountains about 40 minutes from Barcelona. It's a beautiful spot. On the day we visited, it was quite foggy, and so outdoor panoramic views were not possible. The fog, however, lent an incredible quality to the atmosphere and the alleyways around the structure--a photographer's dream!... More

One of the must in your visit to Barcelona is a one day tour -though can be done in half day also- to the Montserrat mountain. A peaceful and relaxing visite to the monastery and the cathedral and also enjoy of the mountain and the great views.

Sandra was the best tour guide ever, she was so charismatic and well informed. The tour is worth every single penny. The views from the Monserrat mountains are breath taking and the wine tasting in the castle was amazing. Definitely would recommend.

Bus ride to Montserrat was smooth and our charming young guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She works with the Barcelona Guide Bureau which has an orange umbrella as its symbol. The views from the Monastery were breathtaking - a photographer's dream.

Confortable, bus and very knowledgeable guide, Sra.Dolores from Juliá Tours at Balmes St.close to Plaça Catalunya. Perhaps the full day tour is more relaxed but this was just very good. Nice sourroundings, fascinating climbing 1500 mts by railway at the edge of the serrated cliffs, therefore de name of Mont-Serrat...

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
