My trip was the Premium Montserrat Half Day Tour. I booked via the agent ‘Tiquets’ but the experience is delivered by Catalunya Bus Turistica, for whom, I have only praise, as the tour was well organised. It starts from Barcelona Nord at 9am, reaching Montserrat an hour or so later, delivering you back to the station around 4-430pm. Our driver, Johnny, was a calm and reassuring presence behind the wheel, and the coach was immaculate, with WiFi, seatbelts and large windows. The tour included the rack train for the final part of our ascent, but there is also the option of the cable car. Once there, our charismatic, well informed guide, Alba, gave us the low down on the area, alongside the logistics of the day. She was clear and professional, fluently conveying the info in perfect Spanish and English, via a very effective audio/headphones unit. There is really only one street in Montserrat, and here you’ll find the Benedictine Monastery plus a handful of eateries, shops, market stalls, an art museum and an audiovisual experience centre. Following Alba’s orientation we were free to do our own thing until the choral performance at 1pm. Premium Tickets include this (there is no performance on weekends or holidays), as well as access to the Black Madonna shrine and entry to the Museum and Audiovisual Space. Basic tickets include transportation and the initial orientation only. The Museum is excellent - surprisingly extensive, with some really superb Renaissance, Baroque and Modern paintings. The choral recital is short but sweet, the all boy choir one of the oldest in Europe, and the Basilica is stunning. But I was underwhelmed by Montserrat and the Monastery in general, finding it less spectacular then many photographs indicate. This certainly wasn't helped by a cold, wet and foggy day as this drained clarity and colour from the rugged majesty of the scene, and blunted interest in hiking up to the higher viewing points. I would strongly suggest trying to plan your visit for a clear and preferably warm day (cancellation policy is up to 24 hours), as for me, the highlight of Montserrat is the panoramic vistas you’d get from heading a little further up the mountain and looking down OVER the Monastery and its striking saw-toothed surrounds. With regards to restaurants, it’s a fairly spartan and touristy offer, a grim looking buffet restaurant, a dated looking eatery specialising in group catering, and a cafe or two. If you’re after a proper feed, the Abat Cisneros restaurant is probably the best option. Situated in the hotel of the same name, this 16thC former Monastery stable block has character, white clothed tables and a more formal menu and service. It is a set 4 course affair priced at €39.95. Food was ok, my main course really flavoursome, but stone cold. Service was pleasant enough, if a tad indifferent.
On warmer days, you’d also have the option of a picnic.
To sum up - I wasn't blown away by Montserrat per se, but CBT did a good job and I would use them again.

Premium Montserrat - worth every euro as all the main areas were paid for in advance, so no time wasting as there is lots to see and do. Madelena was an excellent tour guide, she explained everything clearly throughout the day. Low season is recommended as this is a very popular tourist designation.

We just loved the tour. Girona is a beautiful place and we enjoyed it a lot (especially all the legends!). Carlos was a very caring guy, he even gave us some tips about where to eat well and not fall into a tourist trap. Later on, when he talked about Dalí's work at the museum, we could tell how dedicated he is. Of course, the museum itself is magnificent. Thanks for the tour and especially thank you to Carlos! Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Bus stops easy to find. Great way to see all the major sites. We bought the 2-day tickets. first day rode both routes. 2nd day jumped on & off at several stops. We enjoyed just driving through Barcelona & seeing houses, buildings, the port, etc. Great overview of the place.

Went on Dali's Figueres and Girona tour with Alex as guide. Excellent trip and Alex was a superb guide who was very knowledgeable about many things but was particularly skilled in giving us all a detailed insight into Dali and how he approached his work. Alex's initial tour of the Dali museum gave us all a really inspiring understanding of what we were seeing and whetted our apetites for the remaining 2 hours of free time in the museum. The trip timings were spot on and all arrangements worked smoothly. In my view a must do trip when visiting Barcelona.

Actual visit October 2019…Calendar doesn’t go back fare enough!! I booked the Easy Montserrat Half Day Tour (English). The meet point was easy to find. Luckily for me it was only a couple blocks from my hotel. Check-in for the tour is easy. Our tour guide, Gemma, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The guided part of the tour is around 45 minutes leaving three hours of exploring time. The Monastery is amazing. The views are spectacular. I highly recommend this tour if you have an interest in history, enjoy a mostly self-guided tour and love scenic views.

I am a professional photographer and its my passion and work to visit countries to shoot beautiful pictures. I was highly recommended to visit Montserrat. I had contacted the agency and was taken at exactly 10 am. Our guide was Jemma, a very knowledgeable and an energetic lady who briefed us on the history and expertly guided us around the place. For photographers out there, I would advice you that this place is worth to photograph especially the Black Maradona. I would strongly recommend this agency to everyone. Thank you Bus Turistic and my immense gratitude to Jemma who took good care of us.

My wife and I took the Premium Montserrat & Gaudi Tour booked through the Barcelona Tourist Office website. The tour far exceeded our expectations. We learned a lot more about Gaudi and Guell at the Colonia World Heritage site and the local community. At Monserrat we got a behind the scenes tour of the school and exceptional positioning for the boys choir performance in the church. It also put us in an excellent location to queue to see and touch the Madonna. Our guide, Lilia, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The package also included free admission to the art museum which was very impressive.
