We had a fantastic culinary adventure with Cook and Taste Barcelona. We started with a tour of the local market hosted by our Chef and guide, Rosa, to purchase our key ingredients for the meal we were about to prepare. This was truly a learning experience and this tour showed us how to separate us tourists from the locals in terms of how to best utilize the market and purchase the best ingredients.
We spent the next 4 hours with a great chef and great group of “chefs is training” making a fantastic meal. The wine flowed and we got to really participate in all aspects of the meal preparation. You could do as much or as little as you wanted but were always encouraged to jump in. We made a fantastic meal including traditional tapas, a paella, and a desert. Mucho Bien!!!
We truly enjoyed our experience and would do it again the next time we visit Barcelona. We just realized they offer an online cooking program now and are excited to check that out as well. If you are thinking about a cooking experience while in Barcelona, you should 100% book with Cook and Taste. Highly recommended.

Small place buried in the heart of the Gothic quarter but staffed with really nice people. We did not do a cooking class but instead did a private walking foodie tour. We started at their cooking class place where several people appeared to be having a great time. Marianna (our guide) took us on what was to be several hours of learning the history of barcelona along with a somewhat behind the scenes tour of the food options within the Gothic quarter and adjacent neighborhoods. Marianna took us to the big market where she knew about half of the vendors; stearing us towards those with only the highest quality offerings. Next we made our way back to our starting place while stopping for a beverage and some tapas. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the outing and highly recommend it. We have friends who did the cooking class last year and said it was a blast.

We loved this. It was an intimate setting (total of 7 people plus the chef/host). The food was excellent. The process is interactive so you have to do your part cooking. That is part of the fun. Our only regret was not doing this earlier in our trip. We did this on our last night. The insight we received from the chef about what living in Catalonia is like, would have influenced (for the better) some of the things we did earlier in the trip. Nevertheless, we highly recommend this evening. You also get to meet people from around the world

This was far and away the best of several cooking classes I have attended in various countries. Out group of nineteen was divided into two groups each with a chef/instructor. Rosa was fabulous, personable and an excellent patient teacher. She had the session organized and preliminaries prepared, so it proceeded seamlessly. The four varied recipes were all delicious. I'll be using them at home, such a wonderful lasting memory of Barcelona and Rosa.

Great day spent learning about Spanish food and cooking delicious lunch. Market visit to start off which was interesting and mouthwatering! Then we headed back via a fab little churros shop for a snack. Carlos was a great host, the right balance of fun and informative. We cooked a three course lunch, the wine flowed and we enjoyed the whole session. It takes several hours but is well worth the time. This is the second cooking course I have done in Barcelona and it was different to the others and good value for money. Group of 6 which was nice and manageable. Many more would not have been as a good.

This was a great way to spend the day in Barcelona, a hands on experience in making four authentic dishes. The chef/instructor Carlos was amazing and engaging -walking all of us amateur chefs through every step in preparing each dish.. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Barcelona and I’m looking forward to making paella once I get home.

Our party of 4 arrived for our cooking class with our time/date confirmation. There was also another group of 4 waiting. The woman, whom we assumed was owner, kept us waiting outside just to let us in 15 min later to say she screwed up our reservation and has a private party. She said she tried to reach us at hotel but that was not true. She told the other group they were supposed to have come in the am, but not what their confirmation said. She offered us the next morning, which none of us could do, so we are supposed to get a refund. She quite obviously had booked a private event that was more lucrative than our class.

Dear Ms. Cesta, You can’t imagine how sorry I feel about all this. I obviously made a mistake with your booking, singing you up in the morning slot instead of the evening one, as I humbly admitted on your arrival. I gave you my most sincere apologies when I welcomed you that day, and tried to offer you different alternatives, which unfortunately did not work. I understand how frustrating this might have been at the moment, but please note I’m definitively not a liar nor dishonest, as you insinuate. I did call you 4 times to the telephone provided as a contact number, but got no answer. And I did call the hotel twice, leaving there a note for you. And yes, we had a private event that evening, which was scheduled way before we received you booking request. So mixing both things is quite unfair… In regards to payment, I obviously did not charge the agency you made the booking through. So should you not have received their refund yet, I’m sure you will do in short. Otherwise, kindly let us know and we’ll chase them for that. Despite this inconvenience, I truly hope you still enjoyed the experience in our beautiful city. Hopefully, we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you in a future occasion and compensate you with a free session!

We very much enjoyed a private class with chief Rosa. We spent the first few minutes discussing the foods we had enjoyed during our visit to Spain, We selected two appetizers , an entrée and a desert along with Sangria to make. Chief Rosa took us to a wonderful market. I actually went in a wheelchair because I injured my knee, the day before. The hotel had a wheelchair and between my wife and Chief Rosa we toured the market! It was great fun! We returned to the very spacious kitchen and made among other things clams in a wonderful wine reduction, Galician Tuna Pie, oven-roasted Dorada with potatoes, onions, tomatoes and garlic and crema catalana for desert. Chief Rosa added tomato bread with salted cod and jamon con queso to snack on while we cooked.

The only negative we had was in getting the recipes. We were told they would be emailed to us, but we have not received them after two weeks. We tried contacting Cook & Taste via email but no response yet. So if you take a class, and you should, write the recipes down just in case!

If you’re planning a trip to Barcelona make sure you book this cooking experience. Our family opted for the private cooking experience with Chef Carlos. In the past we have attended group cooking classes and I find I prefer a private experience, especially with smaller children.
The process to arrange this experience was wonderful. Communication was prompt and clearly stated. The menu for options to cook very thorough. We chose the potato bravas, crocquettes, paella, and the crème brûlée like dessert. Everyone was involved with the cooking process and truly enjoyed. All of the food was phenomenal!
We ate at several other restaurants and would always order crocquettes and paella and the general consensus was the meal we made was better! I hope you enjoy this as much as we did!

Wonderful class! Everybody chops, cooks, plates, and has a great time with other like-minded travelers. We try to attend a class, plus the excellent La Boquería tour, any time we are in Barcelona. Very reasonably priced. Carlos is an enthusiastic teacher and guide. We highly recommend. Tapas, main course, dessert, wine, local seasonal ingredients.
