I took my parents here to the Gothic Quarter and thus far, this has been my favourite destination. I liked it more than the Sagrada Familia. This cathedral was begun in 1298 and finished in 1450 and is absolutely breathtaking. We went in the cathedral at 3pm and there were very few people inside in spite of a Christmas market... More

Altar pieces painted as early as 1380 to see, as well as later ones up to 7000s. The Cloister is wonderful, with gees, fish and chickens, and the Chapter House Museum is amazing. We spent a long time here!

In my opinion this is important place to visit (there is sometimes free entrance during a day). Unfortunetally it's very popular/touristic so it's impossible to contemplate.

This cathedral is worth a visit for sure if you are in Barcelona, its lovely inside as are most things in this city, it can get quite busy as its a tourist hotspot, don't let this put you off, go and visit.

We came here before the ongoing Gaudi creation and found it very dark but impressive. So many chapels! Not at all crowded so very atmospheric. Would definitely eco mend visiting.

I personally felt (though travelling across Europe a lot) this cathedral has good photo shoots waiting for you. Worth spending 1.5 hrs in this. a Good place during evening. (i think on weekends its free from 5.15 to 8, weekdays also has free timings just check online.) NOTE: free entries are only at selected times

This cathedral is a historic treasure, with artwork every where you look. Be sure to visit the cloister and see the geese. I visited the roof, which gives a unique view of the cathedral's construction as well as a nice view of the city.

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
