Beautiful Gothic design . Impressed with the architecture. Very solemn place . Nice to take pictures of the interior as well as the exterior. For Catholics , this is a must visit . It may not be a Gaudi creation but still very much worth it to be included in the itinerary . Entrance is free , but it would... More

Architecture is simply outstanding, must visit if you are in Barcelona. The beauty of the inside of the Cathedral brought back memories of the parish I attending during my childhood.

The cathedral in Barcelona is beautiful, inside and out, and is a staggering feat of architecture. From the outside I found myself spending ten minutes trying to take in all the detail, and then I decided to venture inside, to more staggering sights. The church interior is peaceful, tranquil and astounding, with lots of things to see and explore. The... More

Beautiful cathedral with soaring ceilings and pillars. Really beautiful church. Mass was being sung when we were there on a Sunday which added to the emotional atmosphere. Free on the Sunday we visited.

Just. Go. Impressive interior spaces, the roof was just as impressive. This will take you 1-1.5 hrs depending on your speed. Does not match up to a few specific majestic basilicas of Rome or Paris (including the outskirts), but boy does this one hold its own. Great Gothic piece.

This Cathedral was well worth a visit. Entrance is sometimes free. There is an inside courtyard complete with geese that adds to the surreal surroundings. The Cathedral is beautiful inside & outside is a magnet for buskers, cafes & outdoor activities & meetings. The area is busy without being crowded.

The Barcelona cathedral takes centre spot in a lovely square in the old town. It is surrounded by restaurants and shops, with places also, under the trees, just to sit and relax, whilst absorbing life in modern Barcelona. It is a lovely church to view inside (but make sure you are covered appropriately). It is just as interesting circumnavigating the... More

We were in Barcelona less than 24 hours and just wandered around the city from our hotel. We stumbled upon the church and my mom and i went it. it was a nominal fee but the kids weren't interested so just the two of us went it. It was magnificent. I don't have any other cathedrals to compare it too,... More

Took a stroll around the cathedral precincts this morning. Cool dark and very traditional Catholic atmosphere. Loved the ambiance. A sense of timelessness and Christ's peace and love pervades this old church, clearly full at Sunday mass service. Well with visiting and set in the heart of old Barcelona down tiny streets and with a big square in its front.... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
