The cathedral was lovely, with many chapels surrounding it, all with English translations of their origins (the various saints etc). Do yourself a favour and read up on it briefly before you go. Its history is very interesting, including the 12 geese that reside there and the crypt of its patron saint. Don't forget to cover knees and shoulders, entry... More

This church has a beautiful courtyard with geese swimming around. Before entering this church you have to cover your shoulders and legs.

Really! Costly to enter so we don't go in. Took photos outside. Looks nice but having come from Italy where these churches are free we were shocked.

Take your time and study the interior. Walk down the left hand side and look for a little desk in between the crypts, you can buy a ticket for 3 euros to take the lift to the rooftop. Stunning views. Noisy if you go up there at noon!

My husband and I weren't originally going to pay to go in. So worth it! The rooftop view is spectacular! Really would recommend everyone to go!

The Cathedral of Barcelona stretches toward the sky like a Medieval work of art striving to be on display. It can be found in a beautiful part of town with many old buildings in the Baroque or Romanesque style. Great place to take a few photos!

So much detail in the facade, my eyes didn't know where to go next! We couldn't stay for a tour, but had a quick peek inside, just to confirm it's as gorgeous inside as out. Definitely will revisit on our next trip to Barcelona.

The evening of our arrival in Barcelona, we went for a walk downtown. It’s there we saw the Cathedral de Barcelona for the first time. I was impressed by its architecture. My wife and I decided to come back the next day and we did. We paid the 7 Euros for the entrance and was baffled on how big this... More

I visited with my son who uses a wheelchair and at first wondered how on earth we were going to gain access as there was always a queue and about 20 steps. There are no signs advising if there is wheelchair access but we walked around and found two doors either side of the cathedral. The interior was magnificent and... More

Many people rave about the Sagrada Familia but for me the cathedral was far more impressive. we paid to go in (between 1 and 5 p.m.) so that we could see it all and went up to the tower by elevator to see the view. the side chapels were very interesting and the inner garden magical. No need to prebook... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
