The cathedral at the heart of the gothic quarter is a wonderful achievement of architecture. Everything from the structure to the statues are beautifully made and the views from the top of the building is breathtaking.

It is not so big for a huge city. It looks nice from outside also inside is good and free to visit. Nice lightning on the night

Beautiful cathedral with free entry on Mon - Fri (08:00-12:45, 17:15-20:00) & Sat (08:00-13:45, 17:15-20:00), but check their website in case this has since changed. Also, they appear to be quite strict on the dress code (shoulders and knees covered), but luckily for us, I knew in advance and told my wife to bring something along to cover her shoulders... More

La Catedral is stunning from outside, the inside is very nice but during the mess you can't pass in the whole area. Still a must see.

So many beautiful buildings and spiritual places in Barcelona and you must include this one. I used the hop on and off bus to get around and there is a stop near the Cathedral. It is absolutely beautiful!

The front façade is this amazing Neo Gothic architecture while the inside and the back is Catalan Gothic. Definetely a must see! When behing the building, observe the gargoyles on the roof, they are friendly animals (cow, unicorn etc) rather than scary monsters. When inside, learn more about the history of the Cathedral and see the tomb. Also, I recommend... More

Definitely worth a visit in Barcelona. Just be sure to cover up well as they are *very* strict on dress code, and unlike similar places I've visited there are oddly no cover-ups available to borrow or buy.. Turns out this was lucky for us as going away for my friend to find a shawl and coming back again took us... More

I expected to pay to go to the Gaudi Cathedral but didn't expect to pay here ( 7 euros each). Impressive in a specific style. A lift can take you to a view from the roof- cold at this time of year!

It's a beautiful cathedral. Around Christmas time they have the Christmas markets outside so it's really cool to go visit and do some shopping afterward.

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
