Our tour was a HUGE disappointment. The owner offered a 150 euro discount if we did not post a negative review which is wrong so I didn't take it. We wanted a private tour for six of La Sagrada Familia and the Bario Gotic, similar to one I had booked two years ago. Although prior to booking I made clear what we wanted, and that we did not want a driving tour, that is unfortunately what we got for 60 euros per person, 360 euros total for 4 hours. Had I read carefully the confirmation and payment email I would have seen that. So, my mistake was apparently an expensive one, so don't make it yourself. Our family of six found no value in being driven around town for an hour before being dropped off to explore La Sagrada Familia on our own (paying separately for the tickets, while also paying for our "driver"). When I asked our guide/driver about his walking around Bario Gotic with us, he made clear that he could not do that because he could not even park the van because parking is too expensive. As a result, we didn't even stick around for the last hour of our tour. Bottom line is that if you want a private tour of La Sagrada Familia, or the Bario Gotic (including its Jewish Quarter), make sure you specify that you want a walking tour and be prepared to take taxis as necessary. If you want a driving tour, it is probably better to do one of the Hop-On, Hop-Off bus services for 1/3 the price. We will not use this agency again. Please mark review helpful so others see here.

Please read the FACTS HERE… this review is untrue! This is a spiteful review because we would not give in to their extortion for a full refund for something that is 100% NOT OUR FAULT. This person booked for Christmas Eve and was told THREE times there will not be a guide available, only a driver, and that is the ONLY option available for Xmas. Not once, not twice, THREE times they were told this IN ADVANCE of the booking. Then after the tour was done she wanted a full refund because… the tour was done with a driver only and not with a guide. Consider this... This complaint is equivalent to a passenger asking for a full refund from an airline because they did not receive a meal during the flight when the airline told them 3 times IN ADVANCE (including on the ticket) that no meals would be served during the flight. Here are a few more details to clarify further… We sent them 2 emails in English PRIOR to them booking the tour asking them to confirm in RED and BOLDED letters to be aware there would only be a driver and no guide (it was Christmas Eve). They also called BEFORE the tour and were told the same thing over the phone – there will not be a guide, only a driver. We keep records of all emails and phone conversations – none of this is disputable! After the tour she contacted us and demanded a full refund for her inability to read or understand what was said over the phone (it was communicated to her 3 times and she is American so there was no loss in translation since we speak English very well). Was this an honest mistake on her part?... Possibly. Which is why we offered a partial refund. We are VERY accommodating and our guests are EVERYTHING to us. Regardless if this was an honest mistake or a plan to get a free tour, they certainly refused to admit it was their mistake and became vengeful when we did not succumb to their extortion for a full refund. Here are a few things she forgot to mention in the review… She forgot to mention that they did not accept 150 Euros as a gesture of goodwill from us because she wanted a FULL REFUND… We offered a partial refund in the spirit of Xmas and not as she manipulatively stated! She wrote: ‘It was wrong so I did not take it’ (the partial refund) – did she mean ‘it was wrong not to give me a full refund when I tried to extort them and that is why I did not take it’? You decide. She forgot to also mention that they said they would ask the credit card company to chargeback the full amount if they did not get a full refund. We have a recording of this. Fortunately we keep records of all communication and phone conversations so there was no chance for them to cheat the credit card company. Banks are not naïve and they do check the FACTS! Perhaps she forgot to mention that in the review as an oversight? You decide. She forgot to mention that we communicated to her 3 times about the tour being with a driver only. Not once, not twice, 3 times! It certainly makes this manipulation an understatement: “Had I read carefully the confirmation and payment email I would have seen that”… Yes you would. It was in RED and BOLD letters. Also if you chose not to ignore what was said on the phone to you then you would know that too. Was this intentionally not mentioned in the review? You decide. Lastly, she wrote the wrong prices in the review (higher that what she paid), compared us to the Hop-on Hop-off bus (which was done in mean spirit since there is no comparison to be made), and falsely claimed the driver did not want to park the car (at this point we choose to believe the driver who has been working with us for many years). We agree with only one part of this review – we would encourage everyone reading this to please give this review a thumbs up so other people can see that although we have a money-back policy, we will not succumb to threats or extortions from those thinking they can take advantage of us. The internet is an open platform and we are entitled and encouraged by Trip Advisor to share our point of view as well. Very important to know… We will continue to offer private and small-group tours with personal pickup and drop-off, expert English speaking guides, and at unbeatable prices. We will continue to backup our service with a money-back promise. Our small-group Barcelona city tour costs only 59 Euros, includes a pickup and drop-off from your hotel or cruise ship (with your luggage if needed), and is done in a very small group of 4-12 participants only for a better experience. Our prices are similar to the big bus tours with 50 tourists that depart from the bus station and often provide commentary in multiple languages. Our service is backed up with our Satisfaction-Guarantee policy which states that if you are not happy with our service for any reason within our control (not if you refuse to understand the fact that we told you 3 times there would not be a guide), then we will give you your money back! Yes – we offer a great service or money back, but ONLY to those making an honest complaint for a valid failure on our part. We are certainly not perfect (nobody is) but we operate with full integrity and will always make sure we do the utmost for our clients when they deal with us honestly. Thank you for reading our response to this unfair, mean-spirited, and manipulative review. BarcelonaDayTours

We had a group of 8 for a pre arranged tour of Barcelona upon disembarking from the Ruby Princess. Most of us were staying over in Barcelona but one couple was flying on to London in the late afternoon...upon booking the tour Barcelona Day Tour was aware that there was a couple that needed to go to the airport and agreed to take them. one of the reasons we booked with them is that they hold luggage until your flight or hotel room is ready and that was a deal breaker for us. When they picked us up they seemed a little confused regurding who was supposed to be on the bus...two couples who we did not book with ended up on our tour...which was fine with us just not what we had pre arranged. The tour went very well we went to Montserrat and they took us to many wonderful places in Barcelona that I had missed the last time I went...at the end of the day however we were getting concerned about our friends missing their flight and informed the guide that they needed to get to the airport soon. He snapped back that they didn't have to take them to the airport. In the end they did take them and our friends made their flight but it did put a blemish on the day.

Hi, Thank you for your review and giving us the opportunity to kindly explain that our small-group tours are for group size of 4-12 persons and therefore there could be others from the ship who may join you (which is why we keep our small-group excursion prices low!). We do of course take everyone on our tours to where they need to go at the end of the tour. Personal pick-up and drop-off is included in our tours as part of our commitment to giving the best possible service always! Thank you for letting us know you understand and for the 5 star review we received from another member of your party. We appreciate your kind words about the quality of our tour and look forward to seeing you again in Barcelona! Thank you Sofia and the team at BarcelonaDayTours.Com

We booked this tour after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor.
The first initial enquiry was made via email and the web page.
The ease of booking and the wonderful communication left us in no doubt that the company is professional and very keen to ensure your tour will be a memorable one.
We were greeted by our tour guide Armando at our hotel at the designated time.
He introduced himself and then loaded us onto the Mercedes luxury van for our tour.
We only had 5 people in total on the tour.
The benefit of this private tour arrangement is that he could park close to attractions - we could get in and out of then=m very quickly and this all contributed to the flow of the day and the amount of tourist locations that we visited.
Armando is a wonderful guide - he explained the history, the theories and his own personal views on his experiences to the city of Barcelona.
He ensured that we were correctly orientated throughout the tour. He made a special effort to show us great bars, places to eat and places that we should visit that were not covered in the tour. The other benefit was that he managed to mark all of these locations on our map for future reference.
We seen the Gaudi structures and architecture - whether you like it or not there are some great structures to be seen.
The Sagrada Familia was great we had plenty of time to explore the outside.
The tour permitted us to walk around it - and not enter it.
I personally think the exterior has charm and beauty - eventually when it is completed it will be worth spending more time here.
The special tip is that if you want to get in and avoid the queues - purchase your ticket online and present the voucher - skip the lines and walk straight in.
There are places throughout the city that sell these tickets as well - just ask at hotel concierge.
This was the case for all of the popular structures in Barcelona.
We then headed to Gueli Park - amazing place and gardens to explore.
The drive around and getting out at the Gaudi buildings in the city was great as well.
We then headed up to the National Museum of Art - a great view of the city and the port area from up here.
Next to the Olympic Stadium of 1992 and the torch - did the arrow actually hit it's mark for the lighting of the olympic flame that night?
The Stadium is in great order and was a treat to walk around and explore.
After some more sights we eventually were dropped back in the Gothic area where the City hall and cathedral are located.
Some great tapas restaurants and nice eateries and patisseries in this area for a nice lunch after the tour.
I would recommend this tour. It was much better than being taken around in a coach and herded in and out of locations like cattle.
The beauty of this tour is that you can go at your own pace - stay longer, stay shorter depending on each location and your particular interest.
We paid $59 Euro each for the tour.
Money well spent - thanks for a great morning in Barcelona!

Based on recommendations from TripAdvisor reviews, we used Barcelona Day tours for our airport pickup, their full day private tour to Cava region and Montserrat, a reservation for dinner and Flamenco, and a 5 hour private tour of Barcelona with drop off at our cruise ship during our 2 night stay in Barcelona. We also used them for a tour from Malaga to Granada to see the Alhambra but you’ll find a separate review of that. They were ready for us upon arrival in Barcelona although our flight was a little early. Although the driver didn’t speak English, he was great about helping us with our luggage and getting us promptly but safely to our hotel. The first night we attended the Flamenco early dinner and show which was right on Las Ramblas. The dinner was very good with unlimited beverages. After dinner we moved into the show, where we could take one drink, and where they gave us a glass of Cava. The dancers and musicians were amazing and the show was great. The only disappointment was our seats. Although they were in the middle, they were in the 3rd row and it was hard to see the dancers feet.

The next day we were met at our hotel on time by our guide/driver who would be with us the following day as well. The car we were in was very comfortable and safe and our driver did an excellent job. We headed straight to the Freixenet factory for our Cava tour and tasting. He provided commentary and information as we traveled out. The factory tour was led by folks from the company, and it was very informative. We were able to taste some Cava for free but had to buy additional glasses, which wasn’t a problem at all as it allowed you to try what you wanted. We then had time to pick up some bottles in the gift shop before heading to Montserrat. Montserrat was very crowded when we got there. Our guide offered to take us on a tour but said we could see it on our own, which we chose to do. He made some recommendations to us on which cable cars to see. Unfortunately, the choir did not sing on the day we were there, but we took the car to the top of the mountain which presented an amazing view. We decided against doing too much hiking because we didn’t have the right walking shoes. We then went into the cathedral. I highly recommend this tour as Montserrat is just amazing. In fact, we probably would have like to spend more time in Montserrat. Had we known that, and had I had my cell phone with me so I could contact the driver, I’m sure he would have given us more time.

On our last day, we did the 4 hour city tour and added an hour because there were some other sites we wanted to see that weren’t included in the standard tour (of Santa Maria Del Mar, Da La Merce, Sant Pau Del Camp, Royal Palace, Casa Mila, Mirador De Colon ) . Our guide was a little late picking us up because there was an unexpected marathon running through the town; however, he contacted the hotel who informed us about this. We were very happy with the tour and the guides knowledge of all the sites in town. Again, he gave us a choice if we wanted him to accompany us or if we wanted to do the interiors of the sites on our own and we chose to do them on our own. He provided an introduction to each site and what we should look for within the site. Throughout the tour, he talked about the different aspects of the city and spoke very good English. Due to the street closures from the marathon, he had to work very hard to get us to all the sites we wanted to see but he successfully did.

We would highly recommend Barcelona Day tours and will use them again on future visits. The staff communicated very well and was very flexible to addressing all our needs. The prices of private tours can be high, but we found with Barcelona Day Tours the value of having a personal tour outweighs the cost.

We had Paco as our tour guide. He was terrific! He picked us up at our hotel right on time in a 7-series BMW. We had never taken a tour in such luxury. Paco has lived in Barcelona for most of his life, and he was very knowledgeable about the city's history. During the four hour tour, we covered a large area. Some landmarks we drove by, and others we get out of the car. For the stops where we got out of the car, we had about 15 minutes to walk around and take pictures. Paco parked right in front of each landmark and waited by the car for us. It was a hot day, so we were very glad that we didn't take one of those double-decker bus tours where you get off the bus to see a landmark, and then have to wait for the next bus to pick you up. We only had one full day in Barcelona and this was the perfect tour to see a large part of the city in a short period of time. We highly recommend this tour!

My husband & I planned for an 8 hour tour with Barcelona Day Tours. We booked on line before we left giving a 50euro deposit. The balance of 350euros was due at the end of the tour. (however I failed to read the fine print that it would be due in cash, thus had to stop at a ATM). We had a nice gentleman pick us up in a very clean 7 series BMW. Our 1st stop was near the Gothic Cathedral. Our driver told us he had to stay with the car and that we needed to go take a look inside the cathedral. I thought that very odd that he did not escort us into the catherdral to explain the history. The next top was the Sagrada Family Cathedral. We stood across the street, next to his car, as he gave us a 5 min. explaination of Gaudi's masterpiece. He even used a guide book from the variety store that he parked in front of. He told my husband & I to walk around the building so we could view it from all sides. This continued, even at Montserrat. He was a concierge previously, but knew very little history. I contacted the company upon my return and she was very kind and offered me my 50euro deposit back. I declinded. I just wanted her to know that she should have a driver as well as a reputable guide to escort people paying over $600 us dollars for 8 hours if someone needs to stay with the car. A taxi would of been a lot cheaper!

We are sorry you were not 100% happy with the service provided, and would have happily extended a partial refund. However, we do not have fine print. You failed to read that payment can EITHER be made with a credit card IN ADVANCE or in cash on the day of visit. These 2 options were clearly communicated to you in several emails during the reservation process, in standard font, and not as fine print in any way. We understand that things have got off on the wrong foot following that realization. In fairness though, this was completely not our fault, as the payment option was clearly communicated to you several times through regular emails in advance of the booking taking place. We are also very clear about the type of tours we offer, and you have selected to have a driver only with you for the day. We had offered you other alternatives, but you had specifically booked the tour with a driver. Your driver, Paco Garcia, has been working in this industry for many years, and he is very experienced with international visitors. It is extremely important however to read and understand what you are asking and booking. Paco used a guide book to illustrate an example of Gaudi’s work when he was explaining to you about the Sagrada Familia (he sometimes uses old pictures to show the development of the city through time). At Montserrat, he brought you to the entrance so that you did not have to walk uphill from the parking, and he drove the car down to park it before going back up. Lastly – we offer tours which offer unparalleled value for money. You can join our small group tours that include pickup from the hotel or the cruise port, and drop off to wherever you need to go, for as little as 59 Euros per person! If you select this option you can enjoy touring in a small group while still receiving personal service from start to finish. We email each and every one of our guests within 2 days of their last tour with us, and if you have any issues, please reply to our email and we will be more than happy to learn, improve, and make it up to you as needed. If the mistake is not ours, we will still be happy to try and be as accommodating as as we can, but just as you would be fully responsible for your booking with an airline, we ask that our guests read the information we send in advance, and take responsibility for their booking. Thank you!

Barcelona Day Tours, Top Day Tours, and Spain Day Tours are all one in the same. We pre-arranged a tour several weeks before we arrived in Barcelona, the cost was 255 euro with a 50 euro deposit for a 4 hour tour; we paid the deposit and gave them all the particulars including how much luggage we had. About a week before we departed the US, the company emailed us (different people, more than once) wanting again to know how much luggage we had; we told them exactly what we had, same as we did when we booked the tour (three of us, two suitcases each). About three days before we departed, they emailed us again wanting another 20 Euros each (60 Euros!) for luggage; I fought back and told them to cancel and refund my deposit (which they said no, until she saw that I used PayPal). They finally agreed (in writing) to the original quote BEFORE we left the US. When we got to the hotel, they called us in our room and AGAIN, tried to charge us additional for the luggage. I got furious with them (e-mails in hand) and again they reluctantly agreed to the original quoted amount. Nevertheless, when our driver Isaac did pick us up (in his own car) we had a great time and he showed us parts of Barcelona that we would have not seen otherwise. Be careful, use a deposit method you can reverse, such as PayPal and get it in writing! E-Mails are great. I would have rated them excellent if all this had not happened...

Thank you for your constructive feedback! Since getting your feedback in 2012 we have done the following: (1) we offer FULL REFUND for any cancellations with as little as 48 hours notice (2) Guests can pay any amount they wish as deposit, including just 1 Euro if wanted. (3) Any quote you get in writing before the tour is final (4) We offer a Satisfaction-Guarantee policy which states that if you are not happy with the service for any reason (which was in our control -not weather, strikes, etc.), then we will give you your money back! We offer private and small-group tours with personal pickup from your hotel, the cruise port, or the airport. Our small-group tours cost as little as 59 Euros and we will still pick you up directly from your hotel lobby. This is the same price someone would pay for a big bus tour that departs from the bus station with as many as 50 other tourists, and often with commentary in more than one language. On our tours you can enjoy a personal pickup and drop-off service (with your luggage if needed), expert English speaking guides, and a small group setting for a better quality experience. Thank you for helping us improve and ensure we continue to provide outstanding customer service in Spain and of course the best tours with a personal touch at unbeatable prices! BarcelonaDayTours

We arrived in Barcelona the day before our sailing on the Norwegian Jade. We had arranged in advance to have a private tour with Barcelona Day Tours. They had a Mercedes sedan pick us up at the airport. The driver, Christian, took us on a 4 hour tour of the city’s main tourist sites which included La Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, La Pedrera, Gaudi's Trio "Apple of Discord", Esglesia de Santa Maria del Mar, Olympic stadium, The Royal palace (where Isabella met Columbus), Barceloneta, Olympic Village, Parc de Ciutadella, & Montjuic with brief stops at each one. At the end of the tour, the driver dropped us off at the Hotel Regina which was only a block away from Placa Catalunya. We felt the money (€109 each) we spent for the tour was well worth it as we did not have to worry about how to get to the hotel. We were able to sit back and relax as we were taken around the city to see the sights and get a sense of what Barcelona had to offer. Christian was very knowledgeable about the history and architecture of Barcelona. He provided water and made us feel comfortable.

We took a private half-day city tour of Barcelona. Although we made a spontaneous, last minute booking; they kept me informed of the steps they were taking to procure a driver. Our driver, Ivo, was fabulous. He answered questions about the history of the city and certainly knew his way around town. We enjoyed a few stops at highlights with time to walk around. We would highly recommend this company.

I made contact with Barcelona Day Tours prior to arriving in Barcelona. I worked out the details with Dionisio, who was very helpful.
Ivo P. was my guide for my tour and he was perfect for my wife and I. He asked us if we had specific sites that we would like to see, then quickly customized the tour for us. You could immediately tell that he was passionate about the city of Barcelona. He thought of sites that I would not have known about if I attempted venture out on my own.

Ivo was great at giving a detailed history about each attraction. Sagrada Familia is a must see, and the view from Castell de Montjuic is amazing.
