Neighborhood: Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

This is one of the few big fountains you will find all over barcelona. It is located in the city centre but not as large as the magical fountain

Fuente Monumental del Paseo de Gracia is a lovely fountain, and Barcelona has numerous fountains! This one was constructed in 1952 in order to add some beauty to the area but also to act as a roundabout to regulate the growing traffic passing through this very busy intersection. It is not easy getting very close to the fountain itself, but you don't really need to. It is best viewed from a safe distance, from across the road. Worth checking out.

This monumental fountain was installed at the intersection of Gran Via and Passeig de Gracia in 1952 to decorate this popular avenue.
