I wrote to Tailored Tours on a Friday with regards to a tour I needed within the next two weeks. The next morning I found an email from the founder, Jonathan, in my inbox. He included a very detailed itinerary complete with prices. We were not able to book with Jonathan since we had arranged a tour with a different company, but I wanted to leave a review for Jonathan and Tailored Tours thanking them for their professional and detailed quote. Their email to us was extremely pleasant. Thank you for your email and I'm sorry we couldn't go with your company. Furthermore: even though we did not book with Jonathan, he very kindly offered to be a fount of knowledge for our short stay in Barcelona, encouraging us to reach out with any questions we might have regarding hotels, restaurants or activities. This is a marked difference from another tour company I had originally booked with who were very brusque, and shall I say unfeeling. Jonathan leaves a pleasant impression and I'm sure anyone who books with him will not be sorry. Thank you.

Today I finished watching the Conversations with Experts live stream series presented by Jon, the founder of Tailored Tours Barcelona. He brings a wealth of knowledge about Spain and this region in particular. This series brought together passionate individuals, each at the pinnacle of their profession or passion. All from different areas and parts of society but all sharing a passion to make a contribution that brings people together. As far as the live tours go, I haven’t taken one yet but I can speak to uniqueness of what Jon brings this business. He is fluent in Spanish, Catalan, and English and has immersed himself in the society in this region. I think his language skills enable him to really connect with local people of this region, giving him access to people and places off of the beaten path. He has a great ability to bring the history of this region to life and condense and summarize things in a way that makes it interesting and pertinent to our lives today. I know he appreciates real human connections and brings this appreciation to his tours and curated events. If you are looking to get connected with Barcelona and this region in a real and authentic way, I recommend you seek TTB out and you won’t be disappointed.

In looking for a tour of Barcelona, my interest in architecture meant a tour highlighting the Gaudi architecture in particular would be ideal. And I found that with the 'Genius of Gaudi' tour with Jonathan of Tailored Tours. Jonathan was helpful and clear in all his communication. The tour was a little more expensive than the "mass bus tours" offered by other tour companies, and so it should be. It was well priced for the value we received. It was a small walking tour with Luke, who was very personable and extremely knowledgeable about the historical context of the architecture as well as the incredible Gaudi structures. Besides being very knowledgeable, Luke was extremely personable and approachable with questions. His enthusiasm was infectious. We were not able to take any of their other tours, but next time we certainly will.

We learned about Tailored Tours through another website and I contacted Jonathan about 2-1/2 months before heading to Spain. He was extremely responsive to my many email messages and very helpful with my many questions on logistics, other concerns & the coronavirus. He was able to book us rail transportation from Madrid to Barcelona instead of my struggling not knowing the high speed rail booking system in Spain. We went on The Genius of Gaudi Tour (Anthony instead of Luke) and The Gastronomic Experience (Eric), and we were fortunate to receive an extra hour on the Gaudi tour due to a last minute change in tour guide. Both Anthony and Eric were very knowledgeable, experienced and personal guides, and very easy to understand (English) based on where they originally came from. We hope to make it back to Barcelona one day and we will defintely use Tailored Tours again! Mahalo and Aloha Jonathan, Anthony and Eric!

My family and I just finished watching TTB's "Conversations with the Experts" series on Facebook. For 8 informative nights Jon Lerner took us on an exploration through Catalonia's gastronomical and cultural landscape. Jon hosted a variety of experts who explored food, history, wine and spirits. The whole event was capped off with a beautiful music concert and poetry reading. TTB is known for its unique tours and for taking visitors off the beaten path, and these talks were no exception. Jon expertly lead each talk and took us on virtual journeys that would normally not be available to conventional tourists. We were introduced to small scale wine, cava and olive oil producers, as well as learning about Jewish culture and heritage in Barcelona, and the latest food and gin trends. An unforgettable series of talks and a real relief during these times.

A friend who went to Spain had taken a tour with Tailored Tours Barcelona and raved about what a wonderful experience it was. She shared with me that the owner Jonathan would be doing live presentations on Facebook with experts from the world of Spanish food, wine and culture. Knowing that going to Spain is on our bucket list she suggested that my husband and I might be interested in tuning in. Boy was she right!
By the dialogue he had with his guests it is obvious that Jonathan has an incredibly engaging personality and knows a great deal about all facets of Spanish life. We learned so much from him and his guests
We couldn’t “attend” all the presentations in real time but have since gone on Tailored Tours Barcelona’s Facebook page and listened to them. As we can’t travel now this was a wonderful way to experience Spanish life vicariously. If you have future plans to visit Spain I suggest that you check them out.
I know once we’re able to travel again our first stop will be to Barcelona. We will definitely hire Tailored Tours Barcelona to be our guide.

When planning our first (17-night) trip to Spain we weren’t quite sure how many days to prioritize in each city and how to create a trip that felt balanced between planned activities and time on our own to wander. A good friend mentioned Tailored Tours and Jonathan, and so we reached out. It turns out that Jonathan helps people plan trips that are individualized and specific to their interests. We let Jonathan know more about what level of luxury and comfort we preferred and he recommended amazing and delightful hotels and restaurants that we would not have uncovered on our own. Jonathan arranged six experiences for us throughout Spain, each one specific and unique. They included (in Barcelona) The Genius of Gaudi (with Ari), The Gothic Quarter Experience (with Erik), and a Gastronomic Experience with chef Xavi, which we will literally never forget. Xavi led us on a tour through La Boqueria (the market) and then through history and we finished with a molecular gastronomy dessert that I can’t even describe but suffice it to say we have shown the photos to dozens of people since then and everyone is intrigued. I have a feeling Xavi is going to be very busy with individualized food experiences because word of mouth is powerful. We also did a Sevilla full day tour and a full day Alhambra tour which were so informative. The other most memorable experience Jonathan arranged for us was a full day starting in Cádiz with Carlos as our guide, and ending in Vejer de la Frontera, and it included a special grilled Bluefin tuna lunch that, no matter how long we live, I doubt we will be able to top, fish-wise. Carlos was an extremely charming guy and we loved our day with him. Any subject I could think of to discuss, he was completely informed and delighted to talk about it. I remember our food conversations most vividly. All of our guides were informative, friendly, and really listened to us in terms of what we were most interested in. We highly recommend working with Tailored Tours!

My family an I spent a day walking the city with Jonathan. This was our first visit to Barcelona. We started in the Gothic quarter and Born section, and cabbed to the Sagrada Familia. Personally I am very interested in the history of the places I visit and Jon did not fail to delivery. He is incredibly versed in Barcelona's past, its role in Catalonia and greater Spain. He was able to tie the architectural changes of the churches and buildings over time into a visible indication of the establishment and continued Catalan identity, unique from other areas of Spain.
Admittedly my teenage child and wife do get a touch bored with prolonged talk like that, He observed this and was able to pivot to their tastes. Namely little bites of special treats from stores and patisseries we would have never known.
We ended our day at the Sagrada Familia. He did an excellent job of framing the visit early on. We walked around the building before and learned about the creative instincts that inspired Gaudi in his design and ultimately then transferred into the ongoing construction. Entering the Cathedral is truly awe inspiring. I've visited many churches throughout the world and have never seen one like this. Jon noted how Gaudi's love of nature and view that the physical and spiritual world are intertwined manifested itself into a brick, mortar and glass structure.
Jon was very quick to respond, arrived on time and was ready for the day. I highly recommend his services. Spain is open and ready for you if you wish. Enjoy!

I was looking for a restaurant that could deliver a menu for my birthday that was suitable for adults and small children. Jonathan recommended a great place with Mediterranean/Middle Eastern menu. Food was delicious and staff super friendly and accommodating all our wishes! Jonathan made sure along the way that all went well!

We used Tailored Tours Barcelona to book various experiences on our recent family trip to the Costa Brava and Barcelona. We started with a coastal hike with Gemma along the Costa Brava. The views and scenery were amazing and the 4 hour hike took us to hidden coves and cliffs to fishing huts and places that you would not normally see. Gemma was informative and a pleasure to hike with and set the perfect pace. It ended with a reservation for lunch that Jonathan made for us in the seaside village of Calella de Palafrugell and the lunch was spectacular. Tailored Tours Barcelona also arranged a private dinner with Chef Lola that was in a beautiful setting with wonderful local dishes. In Barcelona, they organized an Old City Tour of Barcelona with Erik, who was very informative and knowledgeable in a great relaxed and easy going style. He was just fantastic. The highlight of the experiences was our tour and dinner with Chef Xavi. It was a true “experience” to say the least as he toured us through history and culture with food, music and art in his beautiful and unique apartment/studio. My wife and I and our 21 year old daughter and 19 year old son all absolutely loved it. We cannot say enough good things about Xavi and the experience, as it was spectacular. So grateful to Jonathan and his team for making it easy to have such a great time in Spain.
