Neighborhood: El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighborhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.

Komnata is one of the only escape rooms near the historic center of the city, in the Born near the Gothic Quarter. We tried 7 Sinful Pleasures, our first adult themed room. It was a lot of fun with some "interesting" props and puzzles. Not for the prudish. Definitely, one of the most unique rooms we've tried.

Later, we tried Saint Angelo's Castle. This was probably one of the most difficult starts to an escape room I've done. It is pretty dark (literally), although I guess prisons in the middle ages did not have ample lighting. There was a really good 'aha' moment in this room, that we needed the help of the game master to point us in the right direction.

We enjoyed Komnata Quest, and the GM (Alex) was helpful in communicating with us (English speakers) before and during the games.

Went with colleagues as a team activity and it was real fun! Especially because it’s not a typical escape room in which you have to get out of a room, it’s quite different!

Easy and badly structured puzzles are made difficult by not being able to see anything. The room is really small which isn't a bad thing on its own if done correctly, however, all the puzzles are sequential and a group of 4 will feel cluttered most of the time.

The GM should make an engaging experience and avoid frustration, but we lost about 20 minutes frustrated on not finding things because of the darkness. We knew what we needed, we understood the puzzle but we weren't able to find it. Which is fine for a little while, but not during 20 minutes in a really small room.

Another problem is mantenance, one puzzle in particular could not be solved unless you understood that you were actually in a public escape room, used and worn out by hundreds, and not a medieval prison in a castle. This is totally unacceptable in a room which thrives in immersion.

For me it has been my thrird Room Escape this season, but for some of my friends in the group it was the first one ever. All of us had lots of fun, the game is perfectly suitable both for the "beginners" and for those slightly more seasoned in Escaping ;)
Highly recommended!

I don't play a lot of games and I had no idea what to expect, but it t turned out to be an *awesome* evening. The game/mystery was fun and engaging. It was humorous without being cutesy, and it was well-constructed. As a group activity it really worked well for the four of us; we all contributed and participated evenly. The game was the right level of difficulty - we were trying to win (we did!) right up until the last 90 seconds. I am looking forward to going back and trying the other game. All in all, it's an excellent way to spend an hour with friends. Big thumbs up :D

Fun concept, quest develops really well and is pretty challenging at times. Made us laugh out loud more than a few moments. Only improvement would be to make the experience more immersive from the moment you walk in the door. The dude behind reception was lovely, friendly and helpful, but didn't really add much to the drama of the experience.
