We joined a virtual tour run by our guide Abel. A fantastic experience, great to do whilst on ‘lock down’ at home. Abel was really knowledgable and able to share new information even to someone who has visited several times already. E.g. With the virtual tour we saw many aspects normally hidden in a physical tour: the past, sculptures above street level, or eye-line and future designs. Thoroughly recommended!

Excellent virtual tour about Gaudi in Barcelona with Nuria Bargalló. Very well documented, easy to follow, a thorough review focused not only on his work but also on his life. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know about a great genius. An innovative initiative that opens a wonderful window to a wonderful city. Bravo Nuria, AWESOME!

I went on several tours offered by this group and each one was more than expected. Guides and transportation show up on time, dudes are extremely knowledgable and friendly. Felt like I was being escorted to the sights by family friends.

The headline here is that the tours given by Barcelona Guide Bureau are absolutely amazing! I was thrilled with the tours and the service provided. My two tour guides on Barcelona Guide Bureau Tours were Abel Roca and Mariona, and they were spectacular. I took the BGB tour of Montjuic with Mariona. Despite there being only 5 of us on the bus (I hadn't even pre-booked this tour, and just showed up on a whim), they rolled out the large coach bus and conducted the tour as scheduled. Mariona was a wealth of information on the sites that we were seeing, as well as the city as whole. The next day I had pre-booked The Gaudi Tour with Barcelona Guide Bureau. When I appeared for the tour, I was THE ONLY CUSTOMER ON THE BUS, BUT THEY CONDUCTED THE TOUR AS PLANNED!!! My tour guide was Abel Roca. We had a huge coach bus for the driver, the guide, Abel and me - just three of us! Able told me that when BGB books a tour, they guarantee that it will take place - no matter what. And they were true to their word. Able was so interesting, a wealth of information. He made the attractions come alive. Since it wound up being a private tour, he answered all my questions about other sites to see in the city, and even had the bus drop me off at my next spot instead of returning me to the meeting spot.
By contrast, my experience during the very same trip to Barcelona with Julia Travel couldn't have been worse. I would like to explain my experience with both of these agencies during the same week in Barcelona. I booked tours online via a booking service called City Discovery. I didn't realize it at the time, but City Discovery is just a portal which subcontracts the tours out to the actual providers of the service. On Day 1, I had booked 'The Classic City Tour' through City Discovery who then subcontracted it to Julia Travel. When I appeared at the meeting point at 9 in the morning, I was told by Julia Travel that they canceled my tour because the minimum number of people hadn't shown up. They had not emailed or called me to tell me that my tour was canceled. When I told them that I had prepaid for the tour, and demanded my money back, Julia Travel told me to contact City Discovery since I had booked with them. Contrast this experience with my experiences on day 2 and 3 with Barcelona Guide Bureau. The difference between Barcelona Guide Bureau and Julia Travel couldn't have been greater! Julia Travel canceled my tour, (despite it have being pre-paid), without informing me, because their minimum number didn't show up. They never told me what that minimum was. By contrast, Barcelona Guide Bureau rolled out a full-size coach bus with a driver and guide for just me. I had my own private Gaui Tour with Abel, for the price of their regular group tour. My advice to anyone wanting a first-rate tour of Barcelona is to go straight to Barcelona Guide Bureau, and book directly with them. Skip the booking agent, City Discovery, because you don't really know in advance which tour provider they will schedule you with, and most important, avoid Julia Travel at all costs!

We traveled with guide Tanya and a very skilled bus driver who needed every skill to drive up the narrow switchbacks to Monserrat! The views are spectacular and the history of the monasteries interesting. A boys' choir still is schooled there. It was perfect timing to go later in the day when most bus tours have gone.
Good value.

Barcelona was our first stop in Europe (6 of us were in Barcelona for 5 days, Europe for 3 weeks) and Barcelona Day Tours helped make Barcelona our favorite city...starting with the pick up at the airport. We were concerned that we might miss our transfer because Air France was 45 minutes late arriving in Barcelona. However, as soon as we exited the customs area, your driver was waiting for us holding a sign with our name. He carefully loaded the baggage for all 6 of us and we did have a lot of baggage. He then drove us to our hotel in air conditioned comfort. The cost was only $79 (for al 6) plus tip. Great value! Great service!
Our day tour to Monserrat and Cava was the highlight of our visit to the Barcelona area. Albert, our driver, picked us up precisely at 11am in his spacious, air conditioned van. He reviewed our itinerary for the day and assured us that there would be flexibility & lots of opportunity for picture taking. Albert had excellent English, a wonderful sense of humor and an excellent knowledge of all things Catalonian. During our trip up to Monserrat, Albert pointed out landmarks and shared historical insight as we drove through Barcelona, the Catalonian countryside and as we wound our way up the mountain to the Monastary at Monserrat. Along the way, we stopped for pictures of the countryside and at St. Cecilia Monastery. We arrived at Monserrat in time to hear the wonderful boy's choir sing at 1pm and still had time to take pictures of the monastery and purchase a few momentos in the gift shop.
Lunch was our next stop. We had requested that we have lunch at an authentic Cantalonian restaurant and we were all thrilled with the one chosen, the Restaurant Pont Del Gat in a town below Monserrat. We had the best lunch any of us had during our entire trip. Restaurant had a charming, rustic atmosphere and great homemade food. The meal started with a traditional chicken soup with herbed meatballs and a generous basket of bread. I chose grilled rabbit with salad for my meal. Some of the others had grilled chicken or grilled homemade sausage. A bottle of excellent locale red wine was the perfect accompanyment. We ended our meal with hot, strong cups of coffee. We were too full for dessert.
After lunch we proceeded to Cava where we walked off our big lunch by touring the Freixenet winery. Amazing! After having the cava wine and the process explained we walked down many steps to see part of the 20 km of subterranean caves where 500 million bottles are stored. A winding trip on a mini-train returned us to the surface where we were treated to glasses of Freixenet. Fabulous!
Albert drove us back to Barcelona, while we quietly enjoyed the countryside. He kindly consented to drop us at the bottom of La Rambla instead of at our hotel so we that we could get a few last minute souvenirs.
Our 8 hour excursion was a perfect last day in Barcelona. The cost was only 79 euros each plus lunch plus tip. And Albert was the perfect tour guide. Great value! The best service!
As we said goodbye to Albert, we felt we were leaving a friend. When we left Barcelona the next morning, we knew we had to come back to see more of the city, Catalonia and Spain.

My Barcelona Highlights and Montserrat Tours with the Barcelona Guide Bureau was wonderful. I tried to sign up for them through it and was told I'd waited too long (within 1 week of departure from the US) to make a reservation through that group. A representative told me the company did not allow them to disclose which group they used in Barcelona. I figured they didn't want us to know the mark-up since it was supposed to be cheaper to book with them. The tour was already expensive but, they suggested booking through Viator. I already knew that group was even more expensive. I checked and confirmed it.

Instead of giving up, I turned to Google and searched for the exact name of the Gate 1 Tour. The Barcelona Guide Bureau was one of the few results. I was pleasantly surprised that it offered the tour for less than both Gate 1 and Viator!! I booked for 2, had our confirmations and vouchers in no time!

**Tip: Get to the meeting place early! It's on one side of a large plaza. The metro exits can put you out on the wrong side and cause you to miss the coach if you're already cutting it close.

That's what happened to us. Luckily the Highlights Tour we missed was running the following day and our reservations were moved to that trip. We got off and back on the same bus to head to Montserrat! We were very fortunate.

The guides were in place early with their orange umbrellas, waited patiently for everyone to arrive and board our coach for a timely departure. They were friendly and very knowledgable. The coach was clean, well maintained and comfy.

We highly recommend checking the Barcelona Guide Bureau for tours before committing to those offered by other tour groups in the US. We were really grateful for finding the Barcelona Guide Bureau and not missing out! The tours were amazing!! I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

My husband Jerry, I and our daughter arrived in Barcelona on Jan 2, 2015. We had a referral from a friend of ours to do the Barcelona Sightseeing tours. We did the tour on Jan 3, 2015 and our guide Laura was outstanding. We enjoyed our day sightseeing around Barcelona and learning all the historyof Barcelona from Laura. The highlight of our day was when we went to the Gaudi the Sagrada Familia. Laura did an awesome job explaining the history of this Basilica. We enjoyed our day touring with Laura. Thank you

Nuria the guide for our BGB tour was exactly what a top notch guide should be. Knowledgeable, intelligent, able to inject humor into her material, clear speaker easily understood by everyone, and expressing care and empathy for her flock of tourists. BGB is lucky to have her.

If you have only one or two days in Barcelona, I would highly recommend the hop on hop off bus tours. There are two companies offering the service, (slightly different routes), but it's the easiest way to visit the highlights in this great city. We were on a cruise, and the shore excursion prices were ridiculous, so we often organize our own tours at much better prices. You can also do the same type of bus tour in Palermo. I have to say that Barcelona is an extremely clean city, and the municipal government in Palermo should take some lessons on cleaning up their streets. Along the length of one street there was a lot of dog poo, plus many plastic bottles on the sidewalks and harbour, (along with various other types of garbage)!
PS: See as many of the Gaudi architectural wonders as possible!
