This is one of my main highlights and a place I must get to every time I visit Catalunya! I abosolutely love this place! So many great birds and other wildlife, and if you visit in the spring you can even see the white storks nesting in their huge nests very near to the main trail! There are helpful rangers in the visitor center, which also has restrooms, a small museum and shop. A wonderful walking trail that passes by and through various wetlands, ponds, marshes and swamp, eventually ending at the beach if you walk the whole trail. There are bird blinds that you will want to spend time at located at key sights along the path from the visitor center which allow for undistruptive viewing and photographic opportunities. There are really cool old rice silos about midway along the trail... one of which has been converted into an observation tower that you can climb up via twisting stairs inside. There are restrooms near the silos too. I usually only have time to make it this far in a few hour visit and then have to turn around. Try to visit early in the day for the best birding experience but it it is still good later in the morning/day but the trails get a bit more crowded with people including school groups etc. If you return around lunchtime to the parking area, there are tables for a picnic lunch or there is a small cafe there too. It costs 5 Euros to park your car and that is the only fee to visit. Wonderful place!

One of our regular visits when we go to Costa Brava. This year there was significantly less than water than in previous years when we have visited. For the bird-watchers there are hundreds of storks, herons, usually flamingoes though we didn't see any this year, kingfishers, etc and we also found a female pheasant with three chicks. There were also deer but none of the snakes/slow worms that we have seen before. Great value. Hides for those that want to use them. The walk goes all the way to the beach.

If you like nature, birds and wildlife in general, then this is the place to go. A quiet, green oasis that sounded like the rain forest with the call of various bird song (May time). Dozens of white storks nesting on platforms in trees easily visible and feeding their chicks. Nightingales and warblers abound plus many others I didn't recognise but true birders will have a field day. Also spotted deer wading through the lake! Allow at least four hours as there is so much to see. Cost 5euros per car to park going to maintain the reserve, but free entry to reserve. Worth every penny.

This nature reserve is a little gem. The hides are just magical especially the first one where the selection of wildlife is wonderful. Also, the walk through the reserve to the beach is picturesque and a visit to the rice silos will show a vista to savour and photograph. We are not especially nature buffs but we really loved this place, it is so peaceful and full of surprises.
