The train station was designed by the French engineer Enrique Grasset and the facade is quite elegant. This station is used by the AVE and is quite convenient to reach the city of Valladolid because the train station is not far from downtown.

The train station has some modern features such as an elevator to cross over to the far tracks, but other than that, it keeps its old-time flavor. It has some coffee shops which are open late..

Quite neat and clean though relatively small. I was impressed with the small escalator at the end for people with big bags. Otherwise going down and coming up thru stairs to change platforms would be terrible, especially for older people.

Beware of the RENFE staff here; they are not too polite and lack motivation. If you can minimize your contact with them, or better yet, not contact them at all, then you should do just fine here.

Train station is very very close to the Plaza Mayor, easy walking distance to the city. Lovely train station, in the heart of the town. No need for any cabs!

While it's completely modern (they have high-speed train service, so Madrid is only an hour away), it also has a wonderful 'old world' feel about it. Plenty of waiting space, clean bathrooms, cafeteria, magazine, book, snack shops too.
