About
Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture has been around the world: a unique fairy tale-like palace that brings together architectural tastes of different monarchs. It tells -to all those who come to know it- ancient palatial stories. Austere, as they were the Castilian kings, raised on the rock at the confluence of the valleys of the rivers Eresma and Clamores, the Alcazar seems to watch over the city. Its beautiful Tower keep, often compared to the bow of a boat sailing between the two rivers, is of a stunning beauty. Tourists are amazed to realize that the fortress is a living part of this Castilian city, chosen as a place of residence for many of the monarchs of the Trastamara dynasty.

Castle is smaller than I thought it would be so I didn't go inside.

This was one of the 3 reasons I came to Sagovia and was definitely worth the visit.

To get from station, you can use a taxi. Download the app PideTaxi before you leave your hotel's wifi.

You don't need the app to ride to Sagovia from the station. And they all take credit cards.

But there is no uber and app lets you get picked up.

I used bus 11 right next to the Aquaducts to get back in 20 mins and 2 Euro cash (no cards)

If ever you’re in Segovia you will probably visit here and it is beautiful. The views from the tower are absolutely stunning. The admission price compared to other similar attractions that I’ve been to on my travels was very reasonable and the staff are very friendly. One thing I did notice was the lack of english to inform you what the items / clothing / literature are on display. Then again you are in Spain !!

Maybe the Alcazar inspired Disney. Really looks like Disney and surrounded with amazing view. 152 steps stairs to see the best view on top of the castille. You will do exercise here.

Our phone maps feature sent us down a beautiful stair path to below the Alcazar and it was wrong but led us to the most beautiful of hikes around this historic building. I would highly recommend the time to take this hike and then climb back up to visit this building. We enjoyed visiting the Alcazar and would recommend it to anyone.

Must see attraction when in Madrid, a nice short train ride into segovia. The place is so serene. Went there early in the morning before the crowd and was very enjoyable.

Parked at a garage outside the city wall, and after a long walk reached the alcazar. I left with a you've seen one you may have seen then all kind of feeling. Perhaps it may be more impressive from a night view or seen from a distant perspective. Perhaps the audio guide would have enhanced the visit. Tower view nothing special. Artillery exhibit promising but without English translation details. This fortress may have inspired Disney World but did not inspire me.

Easy day trip from Madrid. We chose to do in our own instead of doing group tour. We saw tours at the castle and they were crowded and hurried, glad we went on our own and took our time. Would highly recommend doing the audio tour, very helpful. Steps to the tower was killer but worth it.

We visited today including the tower and English audio guide. The audio guide added a lot with clear explanations of each room and not a lot of extraneous information. The views in each direction were fantastic. The climb up the tower is well worth the effort. Definitely a good use of our time.

Before our trip to Spain, we heard so much about the Alcazar of Segovia, especially the story about how the place was the inspiration for the castle at Disney World.

To be honest, the Alcazar was a bit disappointing.

The views are nice and there are a lot of good spots for photos, although our visit was nothing special and did not live up to our expectations.
