Description:

Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture...

Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture has been around the world: a unique fairy tale-like palace that brings together architectural tastes of different monarchs. It tells -to all those who come to know it- ancient palatial stories. Austere, as they were the Castilian kings, raised on the rock at the confluence of the valleys of the rivers Eresma and Clamores, the Alcázar seems to watch over the city. Its beautiful Tower keep, often compared to the bow of a boat sailing between the two rivers, is of a stunning beauty. Tourists are amazed to realize that the fortress is a living part of this Castilian city, chosen as a place of residence for many of the monarchs of the Trastámara dynasty.

We took a day trip with Julia travel out of the center of Madrid and it was worth it, Jorge which was bilingual but took on the Spanish group was well versed and had little hidden facts and folklore. We highly recommend the tour but eat on your own it will give you much more free time.

This is a very, very beautiful castle. We did not go inside (because we have seen a ton of castles throughout Europe). But we went around and took photos and videos of all angles of the castle. It is right out of a story book.

This is one of the most important a d well preserved architectures of Segovia. Check out all the sections and see the beautifully made ceilings in every room you enter. I have added a few pictures of them. The fort is surrounded with beautiful scenic views from all the sides. You can also see the towers buy I think there... More

Don't miss the tower. It's definitely worth it for the views of the rolling hills that stretch out beyond Segovia.

Fairytale style castle that is very well preserved with great vantage points of the town and surrounding countryside. Self guided tour takes about 1.5-2 hours depending on your interest level.

This is one of Spain's most representative medieval ages castle. Amazing views, from several halls and the tower. If you have kids or teens they will surely enjoy this castle that will taken them back to the dark ages. Disney's Snow White castle was inspired by The Segovia'sununique beautiful Alcazar.

As far as castles or forts go this place is pretty average but definitely worth the effort to climb the tower and get a great view of the Cathedral. You can easily see everything there in 90 minutes.

Although it's located at the end of Segovia and some people might find it to tiring to get there, Alcazar is worth visiting. The imposing fortress is located on top of a hill overlooking a beautiful valley. Once inside, you step back in time. Medieval interior, suits of armour and amazing shields will stay in my memory for long.

The highlight is the view of the Alcazar from the outside. Not the view from in Segovia but the view from below the city walls, or even better, from the trails atop the ridge across the river. The interior of the castle is very impressive and includes an interesting museum detailing the history of the Artillery School housed in the... More

Touring the Alcazar was simply incredible. To see and hear the history of this castle was a once in a lifetime experience. The grounds are beautiful, and the castle is so well preserved. If you don't have the luxury of traveling with someone from Segovia who knows the history, definitely pay for the audio tour. There is too much you... More
