Excellent Market with a great Atmosphere
My wife had heard of this Market and planned our trip to be here so we wouldn’t miss it. I was glad we we did as they have a large range of stalls with great selection of Tasmania products and more. Would get here early though as it gets very crowded. But still enjoyable. We done to everyone involved and wow 50 years!

    Salamanca Market Visit
This was the first stop in our tour of Salamanca and is definitely worth a visit. I only wish we had had more time to explore all the fine food offerings. We did sample some Iberian ham and cheese, which we really enjoyed. Please give yourself a good hour here.

    Pretty good market
I visited on new year's eve to shop for lunch and really liked it. It's smallish, but has a lot of "shops" with all kinds of goods. The things I bought were fresh and really tasty. Totally recommend

ran across this just after getting to town. DH and I enjoy visiting local markets ... we picked up some fruit, salami, nuts and a few spices (got some saffron to give our friends) quite reasonably. The bathrooms here are locked to prevent problems with "riff-raff" ... one of the vendors was kind enough to let me in. Colorful windows.

The Salamanca Central Market provides a snapshot of local produce for the region including fish, vegetables and fruit and the divine Spanish meats. We were lucky enough to sample a number of the products as part of our tour and it was a great start to our visit to the golden city of Salamanca.

This large indoor market hall is a great place to see various sausages and hams, meats, fish, produce, herbs, etc. The meat and fish are surprisingly different from what you'd see in the US, with various grades and types of ham, including those from pigs fed on acorns. The various cured sausages are really good. We bought some saffron and half a salami-type sausage as gifts. The sausage got confiscated and tossed by USA customs even thought it was fully cured, ready-to-eat, and shrink-wrapped--they said only cooked canned meats with bar codes can come in. No problem with the saffron.

Compared with other central markets in European cities, this one is pretty limited. Two floors, very clean, meats, fruits, seafood mostly. Not really a fun place for tourists (not a lot of see, nothing really to take home in a suitcase) but it's worth a walk around to see local food fare.

Well worth popping in to this food market: the selection of fish and meats is very impressive and it's also nice to sit at the bar in the centre of the market and enjoy a lunchtime refreshment,

This modern, rather small market, is 100 feet from one of the entrances to the Plaza Mayor. Lots of activity, appeared to be largely locals, at least on this date. The outside of the building is quite pleasing to the eye. Lots of seafood stalls, mixed in with meat, produce, and a few places to grab a bite.

This newly refinished market shines with color and fragrance. This is working market. Lots of meat, vegetables and fresh fish herr. Some of the prawns were still moving they were so fresh. We got to sample some smoked, cheese and wine. People were friendly. An interesting stop on our tour.

This is a great market compared to others in Spain, as most of the historic markets in major cities have been turned into overpriced gourmet places. This still has real vendors and high quality products.

Beautiful old market located in the heart of the city. All the produce well presented and super fresh. Produce is local and from Spain. I loved the pickles and the cold meats. Also very interesting to watch the stall holders cutting up Fish and Meat for customers. They were so dextrous with their knives. Fishmongers very smartly dressed in white and or navy.
I bought some pickles and ate them on the spot. Fresh anchovies, picked octopus, a huge variety of Olives and oils and vinegars.

Well worth a visit, and you only need to spend 5-10 mins to absorb the ambience.

Plan a visit to the market to feast on the most beautiful produce on offer to locals, meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, and a cafe to take a coffee and toaster.

Located to the back of the central plaza. Opens early so be early to see beautful laid out produce.
